Sundry Photography/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Palantir Technologies, Inc. ( PLTR ) recently fell victim to the “SaaSpocalypse” narrative. Last week, the company’s stock saw a sharp decline on fears that the business model could be disrupted by the latest AI models of Anthropic ( ANTHRO ). Palantir is one of my most successful single stock picks and still represents a sizable part of my investment portfolio. With an undeniably rich valuation, today I want to spend some time analyzing exactly how Palantir’s business could be disrupted by AI models and whether this is a realistic scenario at all. What does Palantir do? Contrary to popular belief, what Palantir does can be summarized in simple terms. Palantir develops highly tailored software at scale. This software generates unique insights leading to actions that directly affect the top and bottom line of businesses. What Palantir does could have fundamentally been done even before AI (and, in fact, the company did it, having been founded in 2003). The difference is that it could not have been done at scale but rather only by relying on hiring a number of specialists and consultants that would scale linearly with demand. Modern AI models unlocked the possibility for Palantir to scale their business, both in terms of reach and in terms of impact. How does Palantir work? AI Ontology 101 The “how” behind the “what” Palantir does is a bit more complex. Palantir is, in my view, one of the few companies that has cracked AI . For the sake of this article, I will try explaining how Palantir works with their B2B customers in simple terms, as follows: Foundry ingests and unifies customer's data from disparate silos (e.g., ERP systems, operational databases, unstructured documents) into a single, cleansed database. The ontology acts as a digital twin of the enterprise, mapping real-world business objects (e.g., a "supplier," or a "production order"), their properties, and relationships. This is deeply customized per custo...

You might think of breathing as automatic, but dysfunctional breathing can arise even if you’re healthy We’re often taught that breathing is automatic . We barely think about it, as with blinking or the quiet, constant work of the heart. But many otherwise healthy adults have dysfunctional breathing. “Dysfunctional breathing, also known as breathing pattern disorder, is when breathlessness and/or difficulty in breathing is felt,” said Dr Stephen Fowler, a professor of respiratory medicine at the University of Manchester. It can occur outside the context of any disease. If a related condition is present, like asthma, the breathlessness might feel disproportionate to that condition, he said. Continue reading...

The time is long overdue for members of Congress to listen to the American people and end US military aid to the extremist Netanyahu government I am a proud Jewish-American. My father fled Poland in 1921 to escape poverty and antisemitism. Those in his family who stayed were murdered by the Nazis. Since childhood, I have known very well where antisemitism, racism, fanaticism and demagoguery lead. So let me be clear. Speaking out against the horrific and inhumane actions of Israel, and its extremist leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, is not antisemitic. Speaking out about the dangerous and destructive role that Israel plays in shaping US foreign and military policy is not antisemitic. It is, in fact, what every member of Congress and every American should be doing. Bernie Sanders is a US senator, and ranking member of the health, education, labor and pensions committee. He represents the state of Vermont Continue reading...

Grant Baldwin | Getty Images House Democrats on Wednesday are introducing a proposal that would give tax relief to election poll workers. Under the legislation, led by Reps. Joe Morelle and George Latimer, both New York Democrats, the stipend poll workers receive for working elections would no longer count as gross income for federal income tax purposes. The measure was obtained first by CNBC. "Cutting taxes for poll workers recognizes their vital role in safeguarding American elections," Morelle said in a statement. "The Poll Worker Tax Cut Act will ease financial burdens while encouraging participation, strengthening election integrity, and ensuring these civil servants are properly valued for their effort, dedication, and patriotism." Morelle, in his capacity as the top Democrat on the House committee with jurisdiction over federal elections, is leading efforts to counter President Donald Trump 's election priorities, which include reining in mail voting , and requiring voter identification at the ballot box and proof of citizenship to register in federal elections. He's also spoken out about the need to protect election workers in the wake of the 2020 election, which Trump has falsely claimed he won. The Bipartisan Policy Center found in 2025 that the rate of turnover among election workers has increased steadily since 2000 and picked up pace after 2020. Democratic Reps. Terri Sewell, of Alabama, Norma Torres of California, Julie Johnson of Texas, Nikema Williams of Georgia and Kevin Mullin of California are cosponsors. The legislation also comes amid an influx of bipartisan Tax Day rhetoric. Republicans all week have been touting aspects of their 2025 tax and spending bill , particularly proposals like no tax on tips and no tax on overtime. Read more CNBC politics coverage ...

A surge of retail investor buying has helped drive shares of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. to a record high as the artificial intelligence trade roars back to life. The world’s top chipmaker has climbed to fresh peaks this week, erasing its loss since the start of the Iran war. Earnings due Thursday from the key Nvidia Corp. supplier will help global traders gauge whether the rebound in AI infrastructure stocks is merited. While institutions still dominate shareholdings in TSMC, individual investors are gaining more influence as their numbers swell. The stock’s “odd-lot” holders — generally equated with retail — have jumped about 30% since the end of February to a record of over 2 million. “What we are seeing in retail participation is not a cyclical spike, but a structural shift in access and narrative penetration,” said Dilin Wu , a strategist at Pepperstone Group Limited. “TSMC has effectively crossed a threshold: it is no longer just a semiconductor proxy owned by institutions, but a ‘default entry point’ for retail exposure to the AI cycle.” The growing importance of retail investing has been a theme across global markets in recent years. Yet few companies command as much magnetism among individual investors in their home countries as does TSMC, whose dominance in advanced chipmaking has made it both a national symbol and stock market linchpin. TSMC’s weighting — at 45% of the benchmark Taiex — has created headaches for active funds with single-stock allocation caps at 10%, but helped boost the influence of retail traders. A more favorable regulatory environment is also having an impact. The rollout of regular investing plans enabling automatic, scheduled purchases of stocks and ETFs has encouraged greater participation from households. The Iran war accelerated the trend, with moms and pops piling into TSMC as foreign funds reduced positions to de-risk. The percentage of odd-lot trading in TSMC’s total turnover climbed in March, with one session reachi...

To say that the investors have been on a roller coaster over the last year would be an understatement. The S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) is surging yet again, up over 3% in the past five days alone, as of this writing. This shortly after the index reached its lowest point of the year earlier this month. But with tensions in the Middle East continuing to rise and no resolution in sight, there's no telling where the market may be headed as oil prices wreak havoc on supply chains. No matter what's on the horizon, though, there's an almost surefire way to protect your money in the stock market -- and it may sound very counterintuitive right now. Continue reading

Eos Energy Soars As Investors Focus On Zinc Batteries And AI-Driven Demand Eos Energy Enterprises’ stock jumped over 60% in the last few days as investor enthusiasm grew around its scaling production and role in powering AI-driven infrastructure demand , according to the International Business Times . The company designs, develops, manufactures, and markets energy storage solutions for utility-scale, microgrid, and commercial and industrial applications in the United States. The stock surge builds on earlier momentum after the company reported strong preliminary Q1 2026 revenue of $56–$57 million. Growth was fueled by higher shipments, improved output, and better manufacturing efficiency at its Pennsylvania facility, signaling progress in ramping up its second production line. This positive update helped ease concerns from earlier setbacks, including missed 2025 revenue guidance and ongoing class-action lawsuits tied to production projections. While legal risks remain, recent operational gains have renewed investor confidence. IBT writes that Eos is positioning itself to meet rising electricity demand from AI and data centers, highlighted by a new partnership aimed at rapidly deploying large-scale power solutions. Its zinc-based batteries—seen as safer, cheaper, and more domestically sourced than lithium alternatives—are gaining attention as utilities and tech firms seek reliable energy storage. Looking ahead, the company expects 2026 revenue between $300 million and $400 million, with improving margins as production scales. A $701 million backlog supports future growth, though profitability, cash needs, and execution risks remain concerns. Analysts are cautiously optimistic and broader market optimism and policy support for U.S.-based energy solutions have also contributed to the stock’s recent strength. Overall, Eos appears to be at a turning point. Continued manufacturing progress and successful contract wins could solidify its position in the energy storage sect...
