Dennis Diatel Photography/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Cardano ( ADA-USD ) came under fresh pressure after network founder Charles Hoskinson posted four words on X , “I’m taking a break. TTYL,” triggering another wave of altcoin selling. The token dropped more than ~10%, slipping below ~$0.20 for the first time in over five years, and is now down about ~70% this year, significantly underperforming the broader S&P 500’s ( SP500 ) 26.52% return. The decline comes as the Cardano ecosystem faces growing challenges. Following the shutdown of Cardano analytics firm TapTools and the cancellation of the 2026 Cardano Summit after a failed treasury vote, Hoskinson warned in a YouTube video on Tuesday that more projects could fail. “I said at the beginning of the year, we’re going to see many ecosystems and people collapse because the markets are terrible,” Hoskinson said. The weakness extends across the crypto market . Over the past month, Cardano ( ADA-USD ) has fallen 24.94%, while Bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) declined 20.79%, Ethereum ( ETH-USD ) 24.63%, Solana ( SOL-USD ) 17.92%, and Ripple ( XRP-USD ) 16.77%, all trailing the S&P 500’s 5.45% gain. According to CoinGlass data, 286.3K traders were liquidated over the last 24 hours, with total liquidations reaching $1.72B, highlighting the risk-off sentiment weighing on Cardano and the wider digital asset market.
