Funtay/iStock via Getty Images Introduction I have to say that writing an energy-focused article nowadays is very tricky. That’s not because I suddenly struggle to do research, but because headlines have been moving very fast. While I truly don’t care much for short-term headlines, as I’m a long-term investor, these headlines are all about the Strait of Hormuz. And as this is an article I had to start preparing days before publication due to the effort that went into it, the odds are high that something major might happen that could either force me to make major changes or that makes me look wrong the second it’s online. We all know how fast headlines go. In recent days, it truly feels like we have a peace agreement every day, quickly followed by a new attack somewhere in the Middle East. With that said, the Iran War has never been part of my thesis. I have been bullish for years on energy, mainly due to Big Picture reasons, including but not limited to the ones below: The U.S. shale revolution has ended after major producers ran out of Tier 1 reserves. The world is starving for affordable energy, which has put a floor under demand for fossil fuels. Energy Information Administration Energy stocks are cheap and highly attractive on a relative basis to the S&P 500. In a higher-for-longer interest rate and inflation environment, energy tends to perform well. TradingView (SPN/SPX - S&P 500 Energy vs. S&P 500 Ratio) I believe in cyclical growth acceleration/growth broadening, which tends to be very bullish for energy stocks and oil/gas demand. Energy expert Eric Nuttall, whom I have been following for a while, noted that because of the Iran War, oil inventories are even lower than they already were. This means that even if the war were to end tomorrow, it would take a long period of elevated demand just to normalize. X/@ericnuttall For example, if the Strait of Hormuz were to be cleared quickly, it would take months for inventories to normalize. Meanwhile, opening the St...

Eka Jaya Permana/iStock via Getty Images Introduction As an income-focused investor, the Technology ( XLK ) sector isn't one I always follow closely. This has nothing to do with the quality of the companies but rather their generally low dividend yields. However, given the sector's high-growth characteristics and the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence, I believe it's prudent for investors to have some exposure to the sector, even if you're primarily an income investor like myself. One of my preferred ways to gain exposure to high-growth companies is through what I consider one of the best growth-focused ETFs on the market: the Schwab US Large-Cap Growth ETF ( SCHG ). Its low-cost structure, tax efficiency, and exposure to some of the largest and strongest growth companies in the market make it ideal for long-term investors seeking growth exposure. In this article, I discuss SCHG's composition, performance, and why, despite the ETF making new highs, I continue to rate it a buy for long-term investors. Previous Coverage I last covered SCHG this past January in an article titled: AI + America + SCHG = Long-Term Growth . The rapid adoption of AI & SCHG's proven track record over the long term made them a compelling buy. Its heavy exposure to technology, extremely low expense ratio, and strong performance relative to many growth-focused peers made me bullish. However, the ETF did present shorter-term risks related to its P/E over 38x. I suggested investors look to add on any weakness to capture AI-driven growth over the long term. Since then, SCHG has continued its strong performance, up close to 8% compared to 9% for the S&P ( SP500 ). Seeking Alpha Composition & New Highs At the time of writing, SCHG sits $0.08 off its 52-week high of $35.20. The continued AI-fueled rally after a brief pullback in tech stocks in late March has led to the ETF being up close to 25%. Seeking Alpha This performance has been led by strong performances in some of SCHG's top holdings, ...

The vote on Sunday, seen as a referendum on outgoing President Gustavo Petro’s policies, comes 10 years after Colombia signed a historic peace pact with guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc). The tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 index has delivered about 19% year to date, 40% in the past year, and 119% in the past five years. What could compete with that? The answer might surprise you. According to recent Vanguard research, some of the best stock market returns in the next few years might come from other parts of the market, away from tech-heavy growth stocks. The Vanguard 2026 economic and market outlook forecasts that U.S. value-oriented stocks will offer a better risk-return profile for the next five to 10 years than U.S. growth (tech) stocks. One exchange-traded fund (ETF) that could deliver on that goal is the Vanguard High Dividend Yield ETF (NYSEMKT: VYM) . This fund holds only U.S. large value stocks and has outperformed the S&P 500 index year to date. Continue reading
Cathy在一旁笑着说:跟得克萨斯的山丘一样平坦?(As flat as the Texas Hill Country?)算是平坦中有些起伏吧。平常Cathy说话不多,但总能说到点子上。

Forty years ago, the future seemed just around the corner—and the vehicle that was going to take us there was NASA's Space Shuttle. Originally envisioned as part of a larger integrated space transportation system , the shuttle was billed as a fully reusable vehicle, totally unlike the one-and-done capsules of the fading Apollo era, capable of making monthly (and perhaps even weekly) ferry flights to low Earth orbit. The shuttle, it was hoped, would transform human space flight from extraordinary to mundane. Brands like Coke and Pepsi were quick to hop aboard and expand the Cola Wars into space , and there were even plans to blast Sesame Street's Big Bird into orbit . The loss of Challenger in January 1986—carrying educator Christa McAuliffe, who would have been the first private citizen in space—put the kibosh on all of that. The shuttle, while fantastically advanced, would never be the vehicle to help humankind slip all of our surly bonds, so to speak. Even operating at its most frantic peak in 1985 just before Challenger's loss, the shuttle hardware managed a maximum of nine flights in one calendar year; for most of the 1990s, it performed at five or six flights per year. Civilians in space—to say nothing of Big Bird—would have to wait. Read full article Comments
