Spencer Platt/Getty Images News Apollo Global Management ( APO ) CEO Marc Rowan resolved a lawsuit that JPMorgan Chase ( JPM ) had filed against him and other early investors in Charlie Javice's student-finance startup, Frank, according to a media report on Thursday. Javice was convicted in March 2025 of defrauding the bank, which acquired the startup for $175M. In the lawsuit against Rowan and others, JPMorgan ( JPM ) was seeking to recoup some of its losses from the backers. A trust controlled by Rowan, who personally invested in Frank, was one of the defendants named in a sealed complaint JPM filed last month. On Wednesday, JPMorgan ( JPM ) said in a court filing that it is voluntarily dismissing claims against the Rowan trust, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday. The dismissal came the same day that a redacted version of the bank's lawsuit became available to the public. Israeli venture capital fund Aleph LP was also sued by JPMorgan. Its founder, Michael Eisenberg, had introduced Javice to the bank, according to a JPMorgan executive's testimony at Javice's trial. In JPMorgan's suit, language describing an agreement that JPM says establishes backers' liability for losses resulting from fraud was redacted, Bloomberg said. The filing said the bank asked investors to honor the agreement soon after it discovered Javice's fraud in 2022. They initially refused and did not change their stance even after she was convicted . Javice was sentenced to seven years in prison but is free on bail while appealing her conviction, Bloomberg said. JPMorgan ( JPM ) believed the college financial planning website Frank had ~4.3M customers when it paid $175M for the business. Instead, it had fewer than 300K registered users. He noted that with Iran’s demands unlikely to be met by the U.S. and its partners, combined with escalating tensions in Lebanon, “investors know the path forward is bumpy, which makes further inflation spikes likely.” Recent economic data reinforces these concerns. The February Core PCE Price Index—the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation measure—rose 0.4% month-over-month, coming in hotter than the 0.3% consensus. The annual reading of 3.0% marks the 60th consecutive month above the Fed’s 2% target. Meanwhile, U.S. Q4 GDP growth was revised down to just 0.5%, and initial jobless claims exceeded expectations.
