Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) shares rose about 4% on Wednesday after the company said it is testing paid subscription plans for Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and its Meta AI service, a move that could open a fresh revenue stream beyond advertising. Meta has been under pressure to show investors how its big AI spending can pay off. Meta's new plans include Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus at $3.99 a month, WhatsApp Plus at $2.99, and two higher tiers for Meta AI at $7.99 and $19.99. Meta said the free version of Meta AI will stay available, while paid users will get higher limits and more advanced features. Meta Verified is not part of the new bundle. Meta's push comes as the company keeps spending heavily on artificial intelligence.
