Police in Hungary have said they will allow next month’s Pride parade in Budapest to take place, signalling a reversal from last year when they sought to block the event on the orders of the government of the rightwing former prime minister Viktor Orbán. Last year’s march made headlines around the world after Orbán’s Fidesz party backed legislation – the first of its kind in the EU’s recent history – that created a legal basis for Pride events to be banned, citing a widely criticised need to protect children. Since Péter Magyar was elected as prime minister in a landslide victory last month, setting off celebrations across the country as Hungarians marked the end of Orbán’s 16 years in power, the new leader has repeatedly voiced support for equality and freedom of assembly. Photograph: Márton Mónus/Reuters He has not, however, made any mention of Pride events, nor has his recently formed government moved to reverse Orbán’s legislation barring such events in the country, leaving questions swirling over the fate of this year’s events. The organisers of Budapest Pride notified police this week of their intention to hold the 31st edition of the march on 27 June. They said they had little doubt that the event would go ahead, particularly after the EU’s top court ruled that Orbán’s 2021 anti-LGBTQ+ law – which was amended last year to serve as a basis for banning Pride – was discriminatory, stigmatising and in breach of the bloc’s rules. “After the extraordinary year of 2025, we trust in the cooperation of the authorities and their acceptance of the gathering,” Budapest Pride organisers said in a statement this week. “We warmly welcome everyone in June who took part in last year’s demonstration, as well as those who continue to believe in equal rights and a democratic Hungary and those who would like to once again celebrate the transition to democracy.” View image in ...

Sundry Photography SentinelOne ( S ) tumbled nearly 14% in premarket trading on Friday after Wall Street expressed concern about the cybersecurity company's guidance and layoffs. Citi analyst Fatima Boolani said SentinelOne has shown “restrained” topline growth, which will keep the stock anchored. Boolani, who has a Neutral rating, lowered her price target to $17 from $18 after the results. She added that the company has seen better execution, but its fundamentals are still “underperforming the broader budget-capture opportunity.” Barclays analyst Saket Kalia pointed to strength in net new annual recurring revenue but added that bookings offered less linearity than some investors might like. Kalia has an Equal-Weight rating on SentinelOne and lowered his price target to $16 from $19. Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives was a bit more enthusiastic but conceded the weak guidance is likely to weigh on the stock for some time. “While the guide and restructuring create some near-term noise, we believe S is sharpening its operating model under new CFO Sonalee Parekh and remains well positioned to capture the growing opportunity around AI security as platform adoption builds,” Ives wrote in a note to clients. Ives has an Outperform rating and a $20 price target on SentinelOne. On the flip side, Bank of America analyst Tal Liani upgraded SentinelOne to Buy from Neutral and raised his price target to $20 from $16, as he believes the sell-off is “overdone.” “Our upgrade reflects growing confidence in the durability of 20%+ revenue growth, a clear path to margin expansion, and tangible signs of improved execution across new markets and customer segments,” Liani wrote. “Historical inconsistency remains a key risk, though recent trends suggest a more disciplined operating posture.” In addition to the results and guidance, SentinelOne said that it is letting go “approximately” 8% of its full-time employees. It expects a one-time charge of approximately $25M with the layoffs, incl...

Three teenage boys convicted of the rape and serious sexual assault of girls as young as 14 walked free from court with fines of £26 each and rehabilitation orders, the Guardian has learned. The three separate cases all took place over the past year in north-east England. They were tried under youth court rules that deal with suspects aged 17 or under and place a greater emphasis on rehabilitation than adult courts. One victim, who was 15 when she was raped, said: “It feels like he just got away with it.” She added that she was “scared” she would bump into her attacker and that such sentences would give boys like him, who were a danger to women and girls, a sense of impunity. One justice group said the fine of £26 for rape was less than a parking fine and derisory. In one case a boy avoided prison after he was found guilty of three attacks, including a rape. There was public anger over a case in southern England last week in which three teenage boys were spared jail after two were convicted of rape and one was convicted of involvement in the attacks. The victims were two girls aged 15 and 14, who were attacked in separate incidents in Fordingbridge, Hampshire. Those sentences have been referred to the court of appeal by the attorney general, the government’s top law officer, for being unduly lenient. Keir Starmer described the case as “appalling”. Youth courts are normally closed to the press and public. But specialist advisers to the young girls in the three newly revealed cases were so appalled by the sentences they decided to expose the alleged lenient punishments being passed in youth courts for serious sexual offences. In one case a young male aged 14 at the time of his offences was found guilty of raping a victim aged 16 or over in August 2023, as well as sexual assault by penetration in August 2023 and the sexual assault of a girl aged 15 in February 2023. He was sentenced under youth court rules in a hearing at Teesside magistrates court on 4 December 2025 a...

Hailshadow/iStock via Getty Images Agios Pharmaceuticals ( AGIO ) lost ~6% in the premarket on Friday after the company announced plans to discontinue studies for a treatment targeting myelodysplastic syndromes, a group of blood cancers marked by abnormal blood cell formation. The treatment known as tebapivat will not advance toward late-stage development against lower-risk MDS after disappointing results from a Phase 2b trial, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based biotech said. The decision comes after the 24-week dose-finding trial, which assessed transfusion independence as the primary endpoint, didn’t meet the company’s predefined target, Agios ( AGIO ) added. However, the oral pyruvate kinase activator was well-tolerated across multiple dose levels with no new safety signals, according to the company. Touted as a once-daily therapy, Tebapivat is currently undergoing another Phase 2 trial for sickle cell disease, with topline data expected in H2 2026. Investors might think that the world of financial services is generally a boring area to park capital for growth. But Nu Holdings (NU +0.15%) proves that this perspective is wrong. The Latin American fintech stock, which has climbed 93% in the past three years (as of May 27), has expanded rapidly. As of March 31, the online bank counted 135 million customers, up 71% from exactly three years ago. This figure is more than what most U.S. banks currently have. What matters most, though, is not necessarily the total customer count. Investors should care what Nu earns from each one. A look at the unit economics Absolute growth metrics get a lot of attention. Monetization is crucial as well. During the first quarter of 2026, Nu reported average revenue per active customer (ARPAC) of $15.90. This number has steadily risen, and it's up 23% year over year on a currency-neutral basis. On the other side of the equation, it cost Nu just $1 to serve each of these customers in the first quarter. That's a wide gap when compared to its ARPAC. And it certainly helps to explain why the company was able to post a 16.4% net profit margin in the latest quarter. This was also supported by credit quality that remains within historical levels. The fintech is still in the early innings in Mexico, but success is notable. On the first-quarter earnings call, CEO David Velez said: "In four years, our customer base there has grown from just over 2 million to 15 million today, roughly seven times larger. ARPAC has nearly doubled, even as we have onboarded millions of newer, less mature customers." The business is also approaching 5 million customers in Colombia. As Nu further penetrates newer ma...
