Patamaporn Umnahanant/iStock via Getty Images AlphaSense on Wednesday said it raised $350 million in a new funding round that values the artificial intelligence-powered market intelligence company at $7.5 billion, nearly doubling its valuation from the $4 billion level reached in its previous financing. The round was led by Vitruvian Partners, Accenture Ventures ( ACN ) and J.P. Morgan Asset Management ( JPM ). New investors included D. E. Shaw Ventures and Pinegrove Opportunity Partners, while existing backers such as CapitalG, Goldman Sachs Alternatives ( GS ) and Viking Global Investors also participated. The funding comes as companies across industries increase spending on AI tools designed to help employees analyze large volumes of information, conduct research and support strategic decision-making. For investors, the financing highlights continued investor appetite for enterprise AI companies that have demonstrated significant revenue growth and customer adoption. The nearly doubled valuation also underscores how market participants are placing premium valuations on software providers that combine proprietary data assets with AI-driven workflows, a segment that has become increasingly competitive as businesses seek productivity gains from generative AI technologies. AlphaSense said it surpassed $600 million in annual recurring revenue during the first quarter of 2026, up from $500 million reported in October 2025. The company said more than 7,000 organizations use its platform, including corporations, financial institutions and investment firms. As part of the investment, Accenture will become AlphaSense's first strategic channel partner. The companies plan to integrate AlphaSense's market intelligence capabilities into AI-driven workflow systems used by enterprise clients. The company also introduced a new AI agent called SuperAnalyst, which is designed to automate financial and strategic research tasks for users. Founded in 2011, AlphaSense provides access t...

Welcome to our guide to the commodities driving the global economy. Today, reporter Anthony Di Paola looks at the efforts by major Middle Eastern energy producers to get their oil to market and equip exporters for an uncertain future. The Iran war, now in its fourth month, is forcing key Persian Gulf oil producers to rethink how they ship vast quantities of crude and products to global customers. With the Strait of Hormuz — the industry’s busiest export channel — still shut to most tanker traffic, countries including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have rushed to make the most of available workarounds. For the Saudis, the East-West pipeline , which runs the breadth of the Arabian Peninsula and terminates at Yanbu on the Red Sea, has offered a vital release valve. The kingdom is also working to increase export capacity there. For the UAE, a conduit from its oil fields to the eastern coast has also proved a lifeline. The country is now speeding up construction of a second crude pipe and considering adding another for refined fuels . These alternative routes provide a crucial bypass and will only grow in importance the longer Hormuz remains off limits. But their capacity constraints and vulnerability to attack mean they won’t necessarily be a sufficient long-term buffer if a lasting solution to the conflict isn’t found and Iran retains its threat over the waterway. Other countries around the region are in worse positions. At the northern end of the Gulf, Iraq has been sending oil by truck into neighboring countries for export and also using a pipeline to Turkey. But flows have been curtailed by financial disputes between the central and regional governments and international oil companies. Kuwait said today it’s in talks with neighbors on pipeline options , but — like Qatar and Bahrain — it has no alternative routes that don’t depend on one or more other countries. Above all, the region’s new and existing workarounds are far from safe. Gulf pipeline infrastru...
