The owners of Xnrgy Climate Systems are evaluating strategic alternatives for the company, including a potential sale that could value the business at as much as $10 billion, according to a Bloomberg News report citing people familiar with the matter. The Montreal-based company manufactures heating and cooling systems used in data centers, a market that has drawn increasing investor attention as artificial intelligence drives demand for new computing infrastructure. Bloomberg reported that Xnrgy's shareholders, which include Decarbonization Partners, a joint venture between BlackRock and Temasek Holdings, are working with advisers to assess a range of options. Those discussions could lead to a sale of the business, although no final decision has been made and the owners may ultimately decide to retain their stake, according to the report. Representatives for Xnrgy and Decarbonization Partners didn't immediately respond to requests for comment, Bloomberg reported. Any transaction would come amid a broader wave of dealmaking tied to the AI infrastructure supply chain, as investors seek exposure to companies that provide critical equipment and services for rapidly expanding data center networks. Earlier this year, Ecolab agreed to acquire AI data center cooling specialist CoolIT Systems from KKR-managed funds in a deal valued at $4.75 billion. Separately, Eaton completed its $9.5 billion purchase of Boyd Thermal from Goldman Sachs-backed Boyd Corporation, further underscoring growing interest in thermal management technologies. Founded in 2019 by Chief Executive Officer Wais Jalali, Xnrgy operates manufacturing facilities in Montreal and Arizona. The company secured new funding in October from Decarbonization Partners, Climate Investment and Activate Capital to support expansion of its production footprint. Representatives for Climate Investment and Activate Capital also did not immediately respond to requests for comment, according to Bloomberg. More news and analysis...

Jorge Villalba/iStock via Getty Images In an interview on the Pod Force One podcast , President Donald Trump just stated some important remarks that might change the evolution of the war in the Middle East, namely the most important market mover of 2026. In my opinion, we have just entered a new and more complex phase, of which continuation depends less on the US and more on other actors. Less control is definitely not what markets want, but this is the direction we are heading in. The Israel-US Relationship Is Changing On February 28, President Trump and PM Netanyahu launched a joint military attack against Iran as they both wanted to achieve a regime change in one of the oldest continuous civilizations in the world. At the core of their vision was the intent of destroying every possibility for Iran to make nuclear weapons; otherwise, Israel’s survival is at risk. Since the US and Israel have been strong allies for decades, President Trump had all the interest in supporting this war. After all, the duration of it was initially estimated to be at best ~40 days, so not a long-lasting war financially unsustainable. However, as we have just entered day 95, in hindsight we can objectively state that something didn’t go as planned. If, when the war broke out, someone had told us that the Strait of Hormuz would be closed for at least three full months, the stock market would have tumbled. At first, that was the actual reaction, but then we experienced one of the strongest market recoveries in April and May. Following the April 8 ceasefire, investors believed that the worst was behind us and the US was in full control of the situation. In other words, just like tariffs, President Trump could end the war whenever he wants without too many consequences. Sure, the Strait of Hormuz has always remained closed, but whenever oil prices spiked too much (above $110 per barrel), President Trump calmed down the panic through some positive statements. That was basically the investing ...

Welcome back to Canada Daily, the newsletter on business, economics and politics from Vancouver to Montreal and beyond. If this was forwarded to you, sign up . Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government is backtracking on a regulatory policy that would have forced major streaming companies such as Netflix and Disney to put 15% of their Canadian revenue toward local content. Culture Minister Marc Miller ordered Canada’s broadcast regulator to revisit its decision with new parameters — most notably that any policy should not load new costs onto consumers. That’s a soundtrack Hollywood studios will love to hear. Miller’s announcement doesn’t mention the US, Donald Trump, Jamieson Greer or Howard Lutnick. But Canada’s difficult trade negotiations with the White House are the clear context behind this reversal. US officials have repeatedly cited Canada’s regulations and taxes on American tech and media exports as a major trade irritant, and a potential violation of the existing trade deal — the one that Trump himself agreed to during his first term. Almost a year ago, Carney scrapped a plan that would have seen Ottawa impose a digital services tax on the Canadian revenues of global tech firms. The prime minister is really trying to get trade talks moving again. Dominic LeBlanc, the minister leading that effort, was in Washington on Tuesday to meet with Greer, the US trade representative. LeBlanc told reporters that Canada put forward detailed proposals and that it wants to negotiate lower US tariffs. In theory, the climbdown on the streaming fund is a show of good faith to the US that could help pave the way for a trade truce. But in the past, Trump has welcomed concessions from Carney — only to ramp up the trade war, or call off negotiations, or return to posting about the 51st state on Truth Social. When Carney dropped the digital services tax, Trump waited less than two weeks before sending the prime minister a letter notifying him of higher tariffs . The Canadian Media ...

pfongabe33/iStock via Getty Images Shanghai Vs. West: Why Do Silver Prices Differ? Based on interactions with other investors and the articles I read on the Seeking Alpha platform, I assume that many readers don’t follow (or are not even aware of) the regional price spread of precious metals. As such, let me start with some basics by drawing your attention to the price differences between Shanghai (a key) and the West, briefly explaining why Shanghai Silver often Trades at a Premium relative to western markets. Take today’s silver prices as an example. As of this writing, silver futures are quoted at around $82.40 per oz on the Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE) and at around $73.80 on the COMEX. Thus, SGE’s price is about 11.6% above COMEX’s. As shown in the next chart, such a premium is not only sizable in absolute terms, but also it's noticeably elevated from the historical baseline (with an average of around 8.54% in the past 52 weeks). A range of factors cause—and also impact—the premium. These factors range from China’s capital control, VAT (value-added taxes), the settlement mechanism, etc. The tutorial provided below should provide the groundwork needed for the rest of the analysis. The Shanghai silver premium exists because of China's unique market structure. Import quotas controlled by the PBOC limit silver supply, while strong domestic demand from jewelry manufacturing and industrial applications (especially solar panels) puts upward pressure on the SGE benchmark. Capital controls on the Yuan (CNY) limit cross-border arbitrage, allowing the SGE-vs-Western-spot spread to persist. China's 13% silver VAT does not enter the headline premium itself, since both the SGE benchmark and Western spot are quoted pre-VAT, but it raises landed and retail costs for physical buyers and acts as a friction layer that lets the spread persist longer in either direction. With this background, this article will next explain why the current elevated premium indicates to me strong odd...
