Justin Sullivan/Getty Images News AI-focused apps stormed into Apple's ( AAPL ) App Store, as billings revenue for such apps increased fourfold in 2025, and 40 of the top 100 apps on the storefront for that year featured consumer-facing AI capabilities, according to a new study by the Analysis Group. "Around the world, large and small developers are integrating AI technologies into their apps, using both third-party technologies—such as Claude from Anthropic ( ANTHRO ) or image-generation models from Stability AI and Midjourney—as well as Apple's tools that leverage on-device capabilities," according to the study. "Thanks to AI-enabled features, developers have added new features to existing apps or built entirely new apps that provide enhanced functionality and new or improved user experiences across a wide range of app categories. These AI advancements are also enabling new value-added services for users." Some of these apps include Daydream: AI for Fashion, which acts as a personal stylist; Capy, an AI-powered meeting translator; VSCO, an AI-powered photography editor; and Linearity Curve Graphic Design, an AI-enhanced illustrator for digital artwork. In total, the global App Store ecosystem generated more than $1.4T in developer billings and sales in 2025. S ales of physical goods and services accounted for $1.1T, led by grocery, food delivery and pickup, general retail, and travel. Developer billings and sales for digital goods and services totaled $149B, stemming from games, enterprise apps, and video streaming apps. In-app advertising revenue from ads placed by developers in their apps was $151B. Apple did not receive commission on about 90% of the total billings and sales. The App Store averaged 850M weekly users across 175 nations and regions in 2025. On a regional basis, sales in China reached $562B, U.S. sales totaled $453B and Europe accounted for $184B. The United States Of Austrian Economics By Molly Schwartz, cross-asset macro strategist at Rabobank Earlier in the week, on Monday, Axios reported that “Iran threatened to abandon the negotiations with the US over Israel’s actions in Lebanon,” with inside sources suggesting that Trump called Netanyahu “crazy.” While Trump did not comment on the exact language, he did confirm the use of “expletives” in an interview with the New York Post on Wednesday that he and Netanyahu haven’t exactly been seeing eye-to-eye: “I was a little perturbed at his constantly fighting with Lebanon. You know, at some point, I said, ‘Bibi, we gotta stop this. You gotta stop it.’” Since then, the US has announced a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, “contingent on a complete cessation of fire by Hezbollah and evacuation of operatives from Lebanese territory south of the Litani River.” However, if one looks at the state of the current ceasefire between the US and Iran, one may be tempted to manage their expectations with regards to how long the ceasefire will last, and if this will set a foundation for meaningful negotiations between Washington and Tehran. More importantly, Hezbollah, who operates independently from (and often against the interests of) the Lebanese Government, has not yet indicated that they agree to the terms of the ceasefire. After the announcement, brent crude oil 1-month futures dropped a little more than $1 to $96.7/bbl. Under the new ownership structure, IG4 will hold 50.1% of Braskem's ( BAK ) voting shares through the Shine investment fund, Petrobras ( PBR ) will continue to hold 47% of voting shares, and Novonor, the previous controller, will retain 4% of non-voting shares. Braskem ( BAK ) will hold a shareholders meeting June 8 to elect new board members, but Petrobras ( PBR ) CEO Magda Chambriard was selected as Chair in a previous shareholders meeting. The new governance is seen as a potential turning point for Braskem ( BAK ), which has struggled with tight margins and liabilities tied to salt mining operations. Braskem ( BAK ) is set to present a debt restructuring plan to creditors that will include debt maturity extension, reduced coupon payments, and more grace periods, without a capital injection or a debt to equity swap, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.
