Trump Signs Executive Order To Facilitate Firing Federal Employees Via American Greatness, President Donald Trump on Wednesday formally advanced a long-sought effort to make it easier to remove senior federal employees involved in policymaking, arguing the change will help ensure government agencies are responsive to elected leadership and the American people. Trump signed an executive order implementing Schedule Policy/Career, or Schedule P/C, a new employment classification that places certain career federal workers into positions that can be hired and removed in a manner similar to political appointees. The policy is a revival of the first Trump administration’s Schedule F initiative and is expected to affect roughly 8,000 federal employees. According to the White House, the move is designed to address longstanding difficulties in removing federal workers accused of poor performance or misconduct. The executive order states that employees placed into the new category would be “exempted from the adverse action procedures that make removals for poor performance or misconduct so difficult.” The administration argued that some high-ranking career officials have remained in influential government positions despite poor performance or resistance to implementing presidential policies. “Consequently, employees with significant policy-making responsibilities can stay in their jobs for years even if they perform poorly, engage in misconduct, or are unwilling to advance Presidential policy across administrations, making their agencies less capable of delivering for the American people,” the White House said in a fact sheet. The administration described the reclassified positions as “at-will positions.” Most of the employees expected to be affected occupy some of the highest-ranking career positions in government. According to the White House, approximately 97 percent of workers likely to be reclassified hold GS-15 positions, the highest level on the federal pay scale. Suppo...

Snowflake Inc. ( SNOW ) roared back to life following its Q1 FY2027 earnings release, with shares surging over 36% after the company delivered revenue growth of 33% year-over-year to $1.4 billion. The AI data cloud company also announced a significant $6 billion, five-year partnership with Amazon Web Services, further bolstering investor confidence in its growth trajectory. Still, despite the impressive rally and strong operational momentum, analyst sentiment remains mixed as structural challenges around profitability and competitive pressures continue to loom over the company’s long-term outlook. What Do Seeking Alpha Analysts Say About Snowflake’s Future? Supporters pointed to several compelling catalysts, including the massive AWS partnership that reinforces Snowflake’s AI-driven enterprise cloud strategy. The company’s backlog rose 38% to approximately $9.2 billion, while its net revenue retention rate improved to 126%, signaling strong organic expansion and upsell momentum. AI features are now contributing to consumption across more than 13,600 accounts, and management raised FY2027 product revenue guidance to $5.84 billion, implying 31% growth. Short sellers, however, highlighted persistent structural concerns, including high stock-based compensation, GAAP losses, and the company’s reliance on hyperscaler infrastructure from competitors such as AWS. Some analysts noted that despite strong execution, Snowflake faces intensifying competition from Databricks and major cloud providers, creating margin pressures that could weigh on long-term profitability. Here’s a breakdown of what some analysts had to say: Uttam Dey, Rating: Buy: “Snowflake absolutely shattered earnings and revenue expectations in the Q1 FY27 earnings report yesterday. The AI data cloud platform company delivered revenue growth of 33%, its fastest ever revenue growth.” - Snowflake’s Q1: Bye Bye SaaSpocalypse The Asian Investor, Rating: Strong Buy: “A major change in investor sentiment regarding S...

Joshua Lott | The Washington Post | Getty Images For the first time, the public is getting a look inside the long-awaited Obama Presidential Center ahead of its Juneteenth opening on Chicago's South Side. The sprawling, 19.3-acre, $850 million campus blends museum exhibits chronicling former President Barack Obama's political rise and presidency with contemporary art, public gathering spaces, athletic facilities and a branch of the Chicago Public Library. The center is also poised to redefine the scale of the modern presidential project, setting new marks for construction time, cost and admission price. A general museum ticket will cost $30 , making it the most expensive presidential museum or library to visit. Unlike the libraries of other modern presidents, the Obama center will not be operated by the National Archives and Records Administration . Instead, it will be privately run by the Obama Foundation. The distinction gives the center more freedom in how it presents stories and less red tape around funding. The center is also intended to serve as an economic engine for the surrounding community, from hiring local contractors to build the campus to drawing new investment to Chicago's South and West Side neighborhoods.
