Alex Wong | Getty Images News | Getty Images Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is being invited to testify before the Senate Banking Committee on June 11 as Sen. Elizabeth Warren , D-Mass., sharpens her focus on the chipmaker's China sales, export controls and role at the center of the global AI boom . "Appearing as a witness will give you an opportunity to testify about NVIDIA's views on U.S. export control laws and regulations and NVIDIA's business in China ," Warren wrote in a letter first obtained by CNBC. She asked Huang to confirm his attendance by Monday. Nvidia's chips power many of the data centers behind advanced AI models , making the company one of the biggest winners of the artificial intelligence surge. But that dominance has also drawn growing attention from lawmakers and national security officials who warn advanced U.S. chips could be used by China to strengthen its military and surveillance capabilities. The Biden and Trump administrations have both moved to restrict China's access to advanced AI chips, while Nvidia has argued that overly broad limits could damage U.S. competitiveness and push customers toward foreign alternatives. The Senate push coincides with a move by Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committe who are separately calling for an investigation into what they say are China's efforts to impede U.S. AI and data-center development. Warren previewed her concerns Wednesday on CNBC's " Squawk Box ," saying she is worried U.S. companies are profiting from technology sales that could weaken U.S. security . "The Chinese, in effect, buy our stuff, and American companies make a profit doing that," Warren said . "But it certainly undermines our long-term security." She said the concern is especially acute because the chips at issue a...

Ole_CNX Anthropic ( ANTHRO ) believes that if artificial intelligence models continue to improve at the rate they are now, humans could become the bottleneck that stalls AI progress. "The evidence suggests that the human role is narrowing at each step in the AI development process," said Marina Favaro, head of The Anthropic Institute, and Jack Clark, a co-founder of Anthropic, in a blog post . "Once human- and AI-authored code quality reach parity, humans will stop writing code entirely, and shift to only reviewing it. But if they can't review code as quickly as Claude can generate it, human review will become the bottleneck to AI development." The Amazon-backed ( AMZN ) Anthropic used internal examples of the rapid rate at which Claude has learned how to handle code. Anthropic engineers are shipping eight times as much code per quarter as they were from 2021 through 2025. This isn't due to CEO Dario Amodei making employees sleep in the office and put in 100-hour work weeks. It's because Claude is becoming much better at following instructions and writing code. AI agents can now write and edit their own code. They can also delegate hours of work to other agents. As of May 2026, more than 80% of the code that Anthropic merged into its codebase was written by Claude. However, these accelerating improvements could lead to grave consequences, the authors warn. As of now, engineers provide Claude with a goal, and Claude can figure out how to achieve the goal without being given a specific method to use. And in research, Claude can already match or outperform humans at executing an experiment. But humans are still required to provide the assignment. Claude is not yet capable of effectively coming up with or using judgment when it comes to generating its own research ideas or specific goals. When, and if, the day arrives that Claude is capable of full recursive self-improvement and begins building ever-more-powerful successors, humans could conceivably lose control of the ...

Ukrainian president proposes meeting in neutral third country as Trump says both sides have to ‘make compromises’ The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has called for face-to-face negotiations in a public letter addressed directly to the Russian president, Vladimir Putin. The letter, the first public letter Zelenskyy has written directly to Putin since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, was a sweeping criticism of the Russian leader’s 26 years in power. Rubio Says 'We Remember Their Lives And Honor Their Legacy' On Tiananmen Massacre's 37th Anniversary Authored by Melanie Sun via The Epoch Times, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a statement to mark the 37th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party’s Tiananmen Square Massacre. “On June 4, the world marks 37 years since the Chinese Communist Party ordered its troops to attack thousands of peaceful demonstrators in and around Tiananmen Square,” Rubio said in a statement late June 3 in the United States, which is hours behind China. “Chinese students, workers, and other civilians who lost their lives had gathered to exercise their natural rights and demand democratic reforms and accountability for corruption. We remember their lives and honor their legacy,” he said. “No amount of censorship can erase the past. Those who sacrificed to uphold their unalienable rights of free expression and peaceful assembly will be vindicated someday.” Mention of the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre is heavily censored in mainland China, with terms such as “June 4,” “6/4,” “64,” “六四” (in Chinese), and related phrases routinely blocked across all information platforms by China’s internet police. Closer to the sensitive date, even terms like “that year” are censored in an effort to suppress all mention of the Chinese lives lost that day and what they stood for. Despite being unsuccessful in China, the protests sent shockwaves throughout the world and helped strengthen the resolve of people in other communist states, such as East Germany and Romania, also seeking liberty. At the same time, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) dispatched Vice Premier Yao Yilin to East Germany in October 1989 to share its methods for suppressing protests. This year may be particularly sensitive for the CCP, following the November 2025 leak of classified video footage of the 1990 military trial of Maj. Gen. Xu Qinxian, who refused to deploy troops against the protesters in 1989. Xu’s testimony revealed ...

GummyBone/iStock Editorial via Getty Images It is finally time for Microsoft Corporation ( MSFT ) to join the AI party. The stock has curiously been left out of the AI rally, likely due to the company’s outsized software business. This comes even as the company shows stunning growth in its Azure business as well as maintaining a huge stake in OpenAI ( OPENAI ), which may come public as soon as this year. The company’s latest set of models appears to show that MSFT is very much still in the AI race. I reiterate my strong buy rating for the stock. MSFT Stock Price I last covered MSFT in February , where I gave my thesis on why I believe that MSFT stands to be a long-term winner in both AI as well as the unpopular software sector. The stock has been left out of the hyperscaler rally since. Data by YCharts The stock’s lukewarm performance appears to be due to a game of comparisons. I expect such reservations to prove transient as investors eventually focus on the reality. MSFT Stock Key Metrics At this point, I view MSFT as being primarily a bifurcation between an enterprise software company and a top-tier hyperscaler. There has been great bearishness in the software sector as of late, which has offset the enthusiasm in the company’s cloud division. That has not held back the company’s financial results, however, with the company generating 18% YoY revenue growth to $82.9 billion, exceeding guidance of between 15% to 17% growth. I was impressed to see the company pair that strong top-line growth with operating leverage, as operating income grew at a faster 20% clip. These are unusual times, as typically companies would have to choose between faster top-line growth and profitability. AI, however, has allowed companies to operate more efficiently without sacrificing margins. FY26 Q3 Presentation MSFT saw its productivity and business processes segment (the software division) show accelerating growth to 17% YoY, up from 16% in the first quarter. This appears to run contrar...
