LewisTsePuiLung/iStock Editorial via Getty Images JPMorgan Chase ( JPM ) could be interested in buying Carlyle Group's ( CG ) in-house private credit division, Carlyle Global Credit, if it is ever put on the market, the New York Post reported on Friday, citing a private equity executive. Carlyle Global Credit pursues investment opportunities across various segments of private credit, having held $194B in assets under management as of December 31, 2024. The news comes after CEO Jamie Dimon said at the Bernstein Strategic Decisions Conference that JPMorgan was on the lookout for acquisitions, having envisioned a $10B-$20B acquisition in the next couple of years. "We are on the lookout, but it's gotta make sense," he had said. He's in no rush for a big purchase. A sset prices are high, and Dimon is "not that fond" of buying stocks or companies "at these prices." In the days following Dimon's remarks, rumors circulated in private equity circles that JPM might be interested in acquiring the division, the executive reportedly said. Bankers reportedly told the newspaper that Dimon could snap up a wealth management firm or a private credit business, and players involved with bank-focused M&A are scrambling to come up with deals that Dimon may like. Notably, Dimon in the past had warned that a shakeout in private credit is likely. More than 1,000 firms are engaged in the sector, and not all of them will succeed. Some of them "may be brilliant, but I guarantee you not all 1,000 of them are," he had said in April. The New York State legislature passed a one-year moratorium on new large data centers, the first statewide ban of its kind if Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul signs it into law. Lawmakers behind the bill say it's meant to give policymakers time to understand the impact of large data centers on the environment and energy prices. It directs the state's environmental agency to create an impact report assessing the amount of electricity, water, and land that data centers use, and the pollution they create. It also requires companies planning to build large data centers - defined as having a peak demand of at least 20 megawatts - to hold and fun … Read the full story at The Verge.

Grandbrothers/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Embraer ( EMBJ ) up 2.3% in Friday's trading after saying U.S.-based aircraft lessor Azorra placed a firm order for 15 additional E195-E2 jets , raising total bookings for the manufacturer's E2 program above 500 aircraft. The deal marks the third increase to Azorra's original 2021 order and includes purchase rights for another 15 aircraft, bringing the company's total firm orders to 54 jets, up from 39. Embraer ( EMBJ ) said more than 200 E2 aircraft are currently in service with 24 airline customers worldwide. "We read the higher demand from lessors as a validation of E2's success among airlines," J.P. Morgan analyst said, as the Azorra order supports Embraer’s ( EMBJ ) view that the Middle East war has not yet affected backlog growth, airline demand for its aircraft, or delivery execution. The transaction will be reflected in Embraer's ( EMBJ ) Q2 results and backlog, the company said, without disclosing the deal's value. ISS Astronauts Told To Prepare For Possible Evacuation As Air Leak Worsens NASA senior adviser and press secretary Bethany Stevens wrote on X that astronauts aboard the International Space Station have quickly shifted into SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft and are prepared to evacuate if needed, after cracks and leaks in the Zvezda service module transfer tunnel appeared to worsen. "The Zvezda service module transfer tunnel, known as PrK, has suffered from cracks and leaks for some time, and has been mitigated by Roscosmos as much as possible to date . The cracks have always been a concern that NASA watches very closely," Stevens said. According to NASA, the Zvezda service module is 43 feet long and contains living quarters, life support systems, communications systems, electrical power distribution systems, data processing systems, flight control systems, and propulsion systems. NASA and Roscosmos have been working to determine the root cause of the cracks, and Roscosmos manages the issue through operational mitigation measures and periodic partial-repair efforts ." Out of caution, NASA ordered all four SpaceX Crew-12 members, along with NASA astronaut Chris Williams, to be on high alert inside Dragon during the repair. NASA said it continues to work with Roscosmos and other station partners toward a more permanent fix for the long-running issue. Reuters cited a senior NASA official who said the air leak has been monitored over the last few months but significantly worsened earlier this week, increasing from a loss of one pound of air per day to two pounds per day.
