Abu Hanifah/iStock via Getty Images Investment Thesis Over the last five years, the WisdomTree U.S. Value Fund ( WTV ) has been one of the top performers in its category, delivering an 88.85% total return as of May 29, 2026, compared to 62.70% for the iShares Russell 1000 Value ETF ( IWD ). By taking an active approach to selecting stocks with high shareholder yields, I view WTV's strategy as more modern than traditional value investing that generally looks for stocks with low P/E ratios and high dividend yields. By contrast, shareholder yield includes buybacks, and per Yardeni Research , buybacks have become an increasingly popular way of returning capital to shareholders over the last 10-15 years. Yardeni Research WTV is a solid large-cap value ETF, and while it's likely to outperform IWD moving forward, its historical drawdowns have been elevated, and other shareholder yield ETFs, particularly the iShares Core Dividend ETF ( DIVB ), could be better at managing downside risk due to their superior quality. While WTV offers other benefits, a "hold" rating is most appropriate today, and I look forward to highlighting the performance and fundamental differences of these three funds in more detail below. I hope you enjoy the read. WTV Overview: Strategy Discussion And Fund Facts WTV launched on February 23, 2007, but according to this post by Christopher Gannatti, Global Head of Research at WisdomTree, the ETF changed strategies on December 18, 2017. On this date, WTV started focusing on shareholder yield and became actively managed, so the main thing to understand is that WTV's full performance history is not relevant. As such, I'll only focus on returns from January 2018 onwards. In terms of WTV's strategy, Matt Wagner, Director of Research at WisdomTree, describes it well in this post . Essentially, traditional value investing relies on valuation ratios, like P/E and P/B, that can be distorted by differences in accounting methods and difficult to compare across comp...

S&P 500 ( SP500 ) +0.4 %, the Dow ( DJI ), touching a fresh record, +1.7%, and the Nasdaq Composite ( COMP:IND ) -0.1%. Now, here are three things for investors to watch on Friday: The May nonfarm payrolls report is expected to show a solid gain of 85K, though slowing moderately from the 115K initial estimate for April. The consensus estimate for the unemployment report is 4.3%, unchanged from April's level. The Summer Game Fest conference will take place. The video game conference could generate buzz that is relevant to Sony's ( SONY ) PlayStation, Nintendo ( NTDOY ), Microsoft's ( MSFT ) Xbox, and major third-party publishers like Capcom, Square Enix, Bandai Namco, CD Projekt, and Epic Games. The live-action Masters of the Universe movie from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios is set to hit U.S. theaters. Mattel ( MAT ) has a significant merchandising program tied to the film. If you're eager to start investing in some of the hottest upcoming initial public offerings (IPOs) -- including SpaceX, Anthropic, and OpenAI -- you don't have to wait for them to debut to get some exposure to them. You can get access to them through the ARK Venture Fund (NASDAQMUTFUND: ARKVX) . The fund invests in both private and public companies with disruptive technology, and nearly 80% of its holdings are in private companies. SpaceX is its top one, accounting for 13.8% of its portfolio. That's followed by OpenAI , which represents 9.3% of its holdings, and predictions-market operator Kalshi, at 4.3%. Anthropic is at 3%. Once one of these private companies goes public, the ARK Venture Fund doesn't necessarily divest its holdings. If a major IPO balloons the value of a public position, the fund's managers may strategically reduce the newly public holding post-lockup, reinvesting the capital into private ventures to rebalance the overall portfolio. As more people rely on large language models to provide pat answers to complex questions, state governments are understandably worried about those LLMs spouting what they see as dangerous propaganda promoted by foreign adversaries. To help combat this problem, the government-sponsored Estonian Language Institute (ELI) has released a new "Propaganda Resistance" benchmark ranking dozens of LLMs on their ability to avoid "tak[ing] positions on topics that the Russian Federation uses in its strategic narratives." As a former member of the Soviet Union that has been independent for just a few decades, many Estonians are particularly alert to what they see as false narratives being promoted from their large and often belligerent neighbor to the east. Alongside volunteer-run Estonian defense collective Propastop , the ELI identified 14 broad categories in which it sees Russian influence operations trying to sway public discussion. These range from narratives on the current status of Crimea and justifications for the war in Ukraine to the history of NATO and justification for Russia's annexation of Baltic states during World War II. For each category of propaganda, the researchers developed separate questions phrased to be neutral, biased with "false assumptions" based on Russian propaganda, or to maliciously attempt to elicit explicit misinformation from the LLM. Questions were provided to the models in English, Estonian, and Russian, and judged by a separate AI model (calibrated to align with Propastop experts) based on the models' ability to "push back on propaganda narratives, without external help" from web search or other external tools. Lululemon ( LULU ) shares were pinned down in Thursday’s after-hours trading as first-quarter results revealed continued pressure on the company’s profit and margins, and efforts to restore its premium-priced position in the athleisure segment continued to face headwinds. The company delivered a top- and bottom-line beat, with revenue improving by 4% and comparable store sales up 1% versus estimates for a contraction of 0.23%. However, the company issued disappointing guidance for the second quarter and lowered their full-year outlook, reflecting what is now a “more realistic view on what they can actually deliver,” notes BTIG analyst Janine Stricter. “We have been navigating headwinds that have led us to adjust our outlook for the full year. We have assessed the business and are taking additional actions to reposition where needed and further strengthen our product engine. We remain confident in our path forward," said lululemon interim co-CEO and CFO Meghan Frank. Added co-CEO and COO André Maestrini, “We recognize that we have more work to do, and our teams remain focused on our priorities as we continue our efforts to reignite growth and realize lululemon's full potential." While sales were higher during the quarter, Stricter noted that much of these sales were generated by “lower quality traffic” on the company’s website, specifically shoppers looking for bargains on lululemon’s ( LULU ) “We Made Too Much” page. As a result, these lower-margin sales compressed gross margin for the quarter by 410 basis points to a below-consensus 54.6%. Additionally, income from operations was down 37%, and net income was down 38% to $195.0M, or $1.69 per share, two cents better than feared. For the second quarter, lululemon ( LULU ) expects revenue to be within the range of $2.45B to $2.475B, representing a decline of 2% to 3% and a $2.46B midpoint that is less than $2.59B estimates. EPS is expected to be between $1.76 and $1.81 versus $2.69 estimates. For FY26, net revenue is ...

Within the last few days, a camera trap caught images of three mule deer using structure for the first time A trio of mule deer have already scuttled across a not-quite-finished $20m wildlife bridge in Siskiyou county, marking a triumph for the California department of transportation (Caltrans). The bridge and accompanying fencing over Route 97 in Siskiyou county is the first wildlife crossing constructed over a major highway in California. The project promises to both improve driver safety and reduce mortality for migrating mule deer, elk and other animal species. Continue reading...
