Oil steadied after three days of gains as the US and Iran exchanged strikes, threatening the prospects of a peace deal that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz. West Texas Intermediate traded below $96 a barrel, after rising almost 10% in the week’s first three sessions, while Brent settled near $98 on Wednesday. The flare-up in fighting saw Kuwait and Bahrain caught in the crossfire, and was the most serious since a ceasefire went into effect in early April. While the US and Iran have agreed on a rough framework to extend their truce by two months and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, negotiations over the final details are dragging on. “No tangible progress has been achieved” in talks with Washington and Tehran is prepared to target objectives inside Israel if its attacks on Beirut continue, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported the Islamic Republic’s foreign minister as saying. Oil has erased all of last week’s advance as the clashes evaporated optimism over a deal to extend the current ceasefire, and potentially see flows resume through the strait. As talks drag on, the world’s supply cushion is rapidly running out - with US government data on Wednesday showing crude stocks at Cushing, Oklahoma, the delivery point for WTI, fell for a sixth week to near what is known as a minimum operating level. “Crude prices are once again pricing in higher for longer,” said Dennis Kissler, senior vice president for trading at BOK Financial Securities Inc. “The path of least resistance for prices still looks higher in the near-term with driving season just about to be in full swing and persistent drawdowns in US inventories.” Meanwhile, Republican-led House voted to halt the US war with Iran, showing that worries over the war are spreading in the president’s own party five months before congressional elections. The ballot won’t end American military attacks on the Islamic Republic, as the Senate would still have to pass the resolution and provisions in the 1973 War Powers Act ...

EvgeniyShkolenko/iStock via Getty Images Lockheed Martin ( LMT ) said Wednesday it intercepted an attack drone during a live-fire test using a system that combines radar sensors, command-and-control software and a containerized missile launcher. The company said the drone was detected and tracked by Fortem radar systems before a Joint Air-to-Ground Missile, or JAGM, was launched from its GRIZZLY launcher and destroyed the target. The test comes as militaries around the world seek additional defenses against unmanned aircraft after drones played a significant role in conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. The growing threat has created opportunities for defense contractors developing systems that can detect, track and intercept aerial targets. JHVEPhoto/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Article Thesis Broadcom Inc. ( AVGO ) reported its most recent earnings results on Wednesday, delivering another double beat . The market reacted negatively to that, however -- possibly expecting even better results. Broadcom isn't as cheap as it was earlier this year, but at the post-earnings price, it still seems attractive, I believe. Past Coverage I have written about Broadcom here on Seeking Alpha in the past, most recently in early March , three months ago. I was bullish on AVGO back then, which worked out extremely well so far -- Broadcom's shares are up by 45% in a single quarter. With Broadcom updating us on its quarterly performance, I want to take another look at the chip giant today and offer my perspective on whether Broadcom is still a good investment following an excellent run in 2026 so far. What Happened? On Wednesday, following the market's close, Broadcom reported the following headline numbers as part of its quarterly earnings release : Broadcom's earnings results (Seeking Alpha) Broadcom outperformed expectations on both lines -- which isn't very surprising, as this was the 6th double beat in a row; thus, AVGO has a pretty clear track record of performing better than what Wall Street is forecasting. Still, the market wasn't happy with those results, as Broadcom's shares sold off by a couple of percentage points immediately after the earnings release. This could change throughout the next day, of course, as more and more investors and analysts digest AVGO's report. Broadcom: Massive AI Tailwinds Delving into Broadcom's results for its fiscal second quarter, let's start with its top-line number. Here, we see growth of 48% versus one year earlier -- a very strong growth rate in absolute terms, and also compared to other major chip companies: Intel ( INTC ) delivered revenue growth of 7% during the most recent quarter, Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ) delivered growth of 38% -- only Nvidia ( NVDA ) delivered...

Yet, according to observers, the summits highlight Beijing’s growing ability to manage its two most important relationships on separate tracks: sustaining a deep strategic partnership with Moscow, while pursuing a more transactional, stability-focused engagement with Washington. Several analysts said the pattern...
