JOHN GOMEZ/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Calgary Police Service has become the first law enforcement agency in Canada to deploy a real-time translation feature on officers' body-worn cameras, a move aimed at improving communication with residents who speak different languages, according to Axon Enterprise ( AXON ). The technology, known as Real-Time Translation, is integrated into Axon Body 4 cameras and enables two-way conversations between officers and members of the public in more than 50 languages. The feature is designed for routine interactions and initial response situations, allowing officers and community members to communicate through translated speech during encounters such as traffic stops and service calls. According to Calgary Police Service, the technology is intended to help officers overcome language barriers during everyday interactions with the public by providing immediate translation support. The service said the capability can reduce misunderstandings and assist officers in communicating with Calgary's diverse population. The deployment marks a milestone for Axon Enterprise, which provides body-worn cameras, software and other public safety technologies to law enforcement agencies. Calgary Police is the first Canadian agency to adopt the translation capability on Axon's latest generation body cameras. Focus on communication and accountability The translation feature is part of Axon Assistant, the company's artificial intelligence-powered toolset for law enforcement. Translated conversations are recorded alongside body-camera video footage, creating a record of interactions while allowing officers to communicate across language barriers. The system is intended for routine and low-risk encounters rather than complex investigations or situations requiring certified interpreters. For police agencies, language barriers can present challenges during traffic stops, witness interviews and service calls, particularly in cities with large immigrant p...

Federal Inspection Reportedly Finds Delaney Hall In Compliance On Virtually All Standards Authored by Jonathan Turley via JonathanTurley.org , Democratic Governor Mikie Sherrill has repeatedly claimed that conditions in the Delaney Hall ICE facility are abhorrent, inhuman, and intolerable. Democratic leaders claimed that the conditions were so horrific that there was a hunger strike going on. As is often the case, there is a closed loop of information fueling such claims. The media ran allegations from advocacy groups, politicians repeated the media reports as fact, and then lawyers cited both as the basis for a lawsuit to shut down the site. The problem is an actual federal inspection that found the facility to be in compliance with virtually every standard. The most recent investigative report conducted by the DHS Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) found compliance with 17 out of 22 standards. The errors were comparatively minor to the sweeping claims made by Sherrill and others. The investigation, performed by six OPR officers and four outside contractors, found only 5 areas of violation, including ice buildup in the freezers, fingerprinting omissions, and improper labeling of cleaning equipment. Moreover, ICE has supplied records showing that state officials have been allowed into the facility for their own inspections , releasing proof from a May 28 visit. Despite such access, Democratic politicians and activists continued to spread the false claim that there have been no such inspections, rotting food, and disgusting conditions. In support of the state lawsuit, Sherrill proclaimed "If the GEO Group - with a $1 billion government contract - has nothing to hide and the conditions inside Delaney Hall are as safe and as sanitary as this private corporation and the Trump Administration claim, then there is no legitimate reason why my health inspectors are being kept from full access throughout the building. The people of New Jersey deserve transparency and...

J Studios/DigitalVision via Getty Images Opus Genetics, Inc. ( IRD ), formerly known as Ocuphire Pharma, is a clinical-stage company that recently acquired a private gene therapy startup, Opus Genetics, and took its name. Up to that point, they were focusing mainly on eye drops under the name Ocuphire Pharma. Management made the decision to acquire the private gene therapy startup in an all-stock transaction . This essentially gave the company a second engine instead of just focusing on consumer eye drops. The restructuring allows the company to start generating revenue early on to fund their future trials, which would allow for less shareholder dilution and increase the overall financial stability of the company. At this point, Opus is heavily relying on the success of their Leber Congenital Amaurosis (LCA5) gene therapy assets. I currently rate the company as a Hold, as its main gene asset relies on an 8-patient trial , and although the company does have other drugs in the pipeline, they are all based on the success of the OPGx-LCA5 AAV delivery system, which is specifically being tested on LCA5. Main Pipeline Drug The legacy pipeline drug of Opus (original Ocuphire Pharma asset) focuses on treating presbyopia (farsightedness) through a simple eye drop. The eyes of a patient suffering from presbyopia lose flexibility, which makes it very hard to focus on objects at close range. Phentolamine Ophthalmic Solution 0.75% is set to become a daily drop that fixes this problem. This eye drop has already finished all testing, and because it has already been approved under the brand name Ryzumvi , Opus only needed to file an sNDA (supplemental New Drug Application) to expand the drug's label to also include the treatment of presbyopia. It is currently waiting for approval, which is expected to arrive on October 17th, 2026. Currently, there are about 120 million people in the United States living with presbyopia, which makes this a massive market currently valued at around $...

Andreas Balg Industrial stocks came under pressure as sector returns sharply lagged broader markets. The industrial basket delivered just a 0.65% monthly return, significantly below the S&P 500 ( SP500 )’s 4.49% gain over the same period. The weakness was heavily concentrated in the Electrical Components and Equipment industry, where most key names closed in the red. Eos Energy Enterprises ( EOSE ) fell ~12.9% to ~$8.20 on Wednesday, with peers following the similar downtrend. Fluence Energy ( FLNC ) dropped ~11% to ~$24.85, American Superconductor ( AMSC ) declined ~9% to ~$46.67, Bloom Energy ( BE ) slipped ~5% to ~$287.32, FuelCell Energy ( FCEL ) lost ~12% to ~$21.81, and Tigo Energy ( TYGO ) fell ~7.71% to ~$3.47. At the broader market level, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended down 1.21%, while the S&P 500 ( SP500 ) fell 0.74%, marking its first red close in the past 10 trading sessions. This weak tone spilled over into the electrical space, as these stocks sit in a high-beta industry segment. With sentiment turning risk-off, broader index softness led to profit booking across peers, triggering a synchronized sector-wide decline. Alexey_Fedoren On the heels of reporting fiscal 2026 Q4 results that beat on both lines, BTIG upgraded Medtronic ( MDT ) to buy from hold citing organic growth with an improving trajectory. The investment firm has a $90 price target (~15% upside based on June 3 close). Analyst Ryan Zimmerman believes that the company's fiscal 2027 EPS guidance is conservative. "Guidance assumes no share count benefit from the Diabetes split and full MiniMed consolidation for 12 months, meaning any earlier-than-year-end separation is un-modeled upside." He added that 2028 is shaping up to be an even stronger year for Medtronic as tariff headwinds calm. "Against this backdrop, MDT trades at a discount to peers in a market where income and durability are underappreciated."
