Inotiv Inc. , which breeds dogs and imports monkeys that are used in drug experiments, filed for bankruptcy in part on what it blamed are tighter rules on its US canine farm and tariffs on non-human primates raised in China. The company has faced increasing financial pressure because of international competition and a move in the US to reduce the use of animals in preclincal drug-safety studies, Chief Financial Officer Beth Taylor said in a court filing . “These financial challenges have been compounded by significant industry headwinds.” Inotiv listed $488.7 million of debt obligations and has entered into a restructuring support agreement with a “significant majority” of its lenders and noteholders, according to the filing. Under the prepackaged plan, through which the company may be able to exit court oversight more quickly than normal, debt would be cut by $325 million and creditors would take ownership of Inotiv. Current shareholders would see their stock canceled under the reorganization plan, which must be approved by the federal judge overseeing the insolvency case. Shares plunged as much as 61% Wednesday to 10 cents. In response to its financial troubles, Inotiv among other things cut costs and tried to rebrand its business, the firm said in court papers. Inotiv began in 1975 as Bioanalytical Systems and went public in 1997, the filing said. As part of an expansion effort in 2021, the company changed its name and bought Envigo RMS Holding Corp. , a leading breeder of laboratory animals used in drug testing, in a debt-financed deal. In 2024, Inotiv settled a federal investigation into its canine breeding facility in Virginia by agreeing to pay $22 million in fines and $13.5 million in other costs. Despite all these positive dynamics ONDS is only up by approximately 10% since my last coverage in early 2026. Finally, the high short interest has hindered the stock’s performance due to its inability to maintain any positive momentum despite the improvement in fundamentals. Data by YCharts Software-Defined Margin Expansion and Ecosystem Scalability Looking into Ondas’s next earnings (Q2), in my view, there may be a solid QoQ topline growth based on the conversion of the $110+ million in Q2-to-date orders. Because product-company level EBITDA hit profitability in Q1 (2 quarters ahead of Ondas’s internal plan), I expect the marginal profitability of incremental topline in Q2 to flow through to the gross profit. Also, the continued integration of the Mistral and World View acquisitions (that closed in April) may likely provide a considerable topline beat in Q2. As long as software attach rates (through SkyWeaver and Palantir ( PLTR ) AIP integration) remain high, gross margins may hold the ~50% threshold. This may be reinforcing the sentiment that Ondas is a scalable software-centric prime contractor instead of a low-margin defense hardware vendor. Moreover, this shift is already yielding high topline growth as Ondas’s Q1-FY26 revenues of $50.1 million had a 1,079.3% YoY increase and a 66% QoQ jump from Q4-FY25. This single-quarter performance matches Ondas's entire FY25 revenue. More importantly, the forward visibility is derisked as Ondas exited Q1 with a proforma backlog of $457 million (that is up from $68.3 million at FY25) and has already secured over $110 million in Q2-to-date orders (that includes $30 million in May alone). Proponents of the technology, which has attracted at least $100 billion in investment, say robotaxis will be safer than human-driven vehicles. And last year , Waymo's data showed its cars were involved in many fewer crashes than human drivers, with much lower insurance claims, although recent issues with school buses and flooded roads show the technology isn't perfect . But safety isn't the only selling point: Autonomous vehicles are said to cut traffic . But data from Waymo's reports to the California Public Utilities Commission shows that, at least in that regard, robotaxis are no better than ride-hailing services like Lyft and Uber. Miragest/iStock via Getty Images When I first shared my thoughts on BW LPG ( BWLP ) last October, I made the case that while shares were on the decline as VLGC rates had softened at the time, the dividend math still worked. I argued that the company could sustain a high single-digit yield at rates around $50k/day and a low double-digit yield of about 11%, around $60k/day. I even mentioned how a yield of around 15% to 20% at the then stock price wouldn't be surprising if rates were to march higher. Today, BWLP has exceeded all such expectations, as industry conditions have become increasingly favorable. Accoridngly, the stock has rallied from the low-teens to roughly $20. Admittedly, that changes the valuation debate, but after Tuesday's Q1 report, I still think BWLP is a decent buy. Returns Since First Coverage (Seeking Alpha) LPG Market Tailwinds Support High Rates When I was writing my initial BWLP piece, the debate was whether rates were high enough to support its fat dividend. That feels too modest a concept today, with rates benefiting from quite favorable conditions. The key factor here is the ongoing re-routing of trade. Middle East disruption has essentially pushed more LPG cargo demand toward the U.S. Gulf. Naturally, a U.S.-to-Asia voyage takes longer and absorbs more vessel time. That situation becomes even more awkward when Panama Canal slots are expensive or scarce. Some VLGCs are being pushed around the Cape of Good Hope. In shipping, demand is a function of tons multiplied by distance, time, friction, and waiting. So with minimal changes in supply in such a short period of time, you can see how the above variables can lead to surging rates. Yesterday's Q1 report displayed this, with TCE income at $55,5k per available day and $51,300 per calendar day, above the prior guidance of about $54,000.
