It had plunged due to worries about software-as-a-service (SaaS) stocks , but the market is feeling reassured about ServiceNow's future. That was helped by a thumbs-up from a Wall Street analyst. It's been a terrible year for SaaS stocks as customers move toward agentic artificial intelligence (AI). Many of the services that SaaS companies provide can be performed by AI agents, pushing some of them toward becoming obsolete. At the very least, AI can speed up some of the processes, so even if clients hang on, they might need smaller packages. Image source: Getty Images. Continue reading

Wirestock/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Due to a defect in the front lower control arm ball joints, Ford ( F ) is telling Bronco Sport and Maverick owners to stop driving their vehicles immediately, issuing a critical safety recall and “Do Not Drive” advisory for nearly 5K vehicles. The incorrectly installed or repaired control arm ball joint may result in “loss of vehicle control while driving, increasing the risk of a crash,” the recall notice says. The recall impacts vehicles manufactured between 2021 and 2026. Ford ( F ) will absorb the entire financial cost of the defect, including towing costs, and has advised dealers to immediately halt the sale or delivery of impacted vehicles. A violation of the federal stop-sale requirement could result in fines of up to $27,168 per vehicle. This latest recall adds to the 34 recalls Ford ( F ) has issued for the first six months of 2026, affecting more than 10M vehicles, putting the automaker on track for the most recalls issued in a single year. Bank of America Corp. is continuing to hire even as artificial intelligence and other technology tools take over jobs and cut off many traditional career paths. Next week, 2,000 summer interns and another 2,000 full-time recruits from college campuses will flock to Bank of America’s offices. They’ll start in roles across the firm’s eight lines of business, including consumer, investment and corporate banking, according to Josh Bronstein, the company’s head of global talent. “This is an important leadership pipeline for us, where we bring in a broad group of talent who can come and grow long-term careers with us,” Bronstein said in an interview. “While certainly some of the work changes as a result of technology, that doesn’t mean our aggregate campus-class needs change.” Bank of America, seeking to keep a lid on expenses by maintaining a flat headcount, is redeploying people across the company and using AI to make them more efficient. Last year, executives at the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company laid out several financial targets aimed at raising revenue and lowering the firm’s efficiency ratio across business lines. Read More: BofA Vows to Boost Profit, Curb Costs as Stock Trails Rivals The bank hired roughly 18,000 people globally in 2025, reaching a total 213,207 by the end of the year. Though that number dipped to 212,134 in the first quarter, Bronstein said the company is still hiring at a similar pace to a year ago, and the class of summer interns and full-time recruits is roughly the same as well. Nationwide, job openings jumped in April to the highest level in almost two years and layoffs fell, adding to signs the labor market remained resilient even as businesses navigated rising energy costs sparked by the Iran war. “We are committed to bringing in external talent to the company, at the same time managing the headcount of the company responsibly,” Bronstein said. That means letting people go naturally through attrition and using technology to expand...

Roman Tiraspolsky/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Leading private credit names were in the top S&P 500 decliners after the industry giant Cliffwater was said to have curbed redemptions at its private credit fund for the second quarter as well. KKR was -5.43% to $89.32 during pre-market trading on Wednesday, APO -3.70% to $123.99, ARES -4.90% to $121.99, BX -5.45% to $108.65, and BLK -1.37% to $1,005.00. Furthermore, OWL was -5.66% to $9.50. Cliffwater Corporate Lending Fund ( CCLFX ) reportedly received redemption requests totaling about 17% of shares during the second quarter, and subsequently capped withdrawals at 5%. The news casts fresh doubts on the health of the $1.8 trillion private credit market. The $31B private credit fund had capped redemptions at 7% in the first quarter as well after receiving withdrawal requests of roughly 14%. Investors were said to have sought to get back more than $20B of their investments from private credit firms in Q1. Several non-traded business development companies are likely to report the results of their Q2 tender offers in the coming weeks. Last month, Blue Owl Capital ( OWL ) co-CEO Marc Lipschultz signaled a shift in investor sentiment toward private credit ( VPC ) ( BIZD ) ( PRIV ), suggesting the recent period of heightened concern over the asset class may be subsiding. However, the latest news is said to be a sign of enduring pressure on the market. Redemption requests at non-traded business development companies reached historic levels in Q1 and are likely to peak in Q2, a recent report by Bank of America said . Apollo Debt Solutions received redemption requests of 11.2% of shares outstanding in Q1, which is expected to surge to 15% in Q2. Ares Strategic Income Fund got requests of 11.6% in Q1, which is expected to rise to 14% in Q2, according to BofA researchers. Furthermore, the researchers forecast that Blackstone Private Credit Fund, or BCRED, saw withdrawal requests totaling 7.9% in Q1, which is expected to peak...

Fatally restrained by security guards outside a Dublin department store, Congolese-born Sakila’s demise raises serious questions about accountability • Don’t get The Long Wave delivered to your inbox? Sign up here Hello and welcome to The Long Wave. On a Dublin street two weeks ago, Yves Sakila died. The 35-year-old, who was of Congolese origin, was pinned down by security guards for almost five minutes after being accused of shoplifting a bottle of perfume from a department store. When the police arrived, Sakila was dead. I spoke to Dr Ebun Joseph, special rapporteur on racial equality and racism in Ireland, about what is being called Ireland’s “George Floyd moment”. The impact of Yves Sakila’s death continues to reverberate across Ireland. Joseph was appointed to give an independent evaluation of the government’s National Action Plan Against Racism, days after several protests and a vigil in Dublin. I ask her what the mood is among Black communities in Ireland. Continue reading...

And this could be pertinent to some of the stocks with the highest dividend yields in the S&P 500 today. Be forewarned that in some cases, the names below have entered elite-yield territory only because their share prices have come under stress. In turn, that has some analysts concerned about the sustainability of payouts going forward." While most of this collection of S&P 500 dividend stocks are overpriced or reveal only skinny dividends, four of the ten highest yield 'safer' S&P 500 June Dogs are ready to buy. The list was screened to remove stocks showing negative annual returns this month. June finds: VICI Properties ( VICI ), Verizon ( VZ ), AT&T ( T ), and Franklin Resources ( BEN ) living up to the dogcatcher ideal of annual dividends from $1K invested exceeding single share prices. All four are also 'safer' because they have free cash flow adequate to support their dividends. With renewed downside market pressure of up to 25%, all ten of the top 'safer' dividend dogs could become ideal, fair-priced buys, with annual yield (from $1K invested) meeting or exceeding their single share prices.
