These Two Things Are Not The Same... Authored by Steve Watson via Modernity , Viral images of a grand classical arch and a twisted modernist one reveal the unbridgeable divide between leaders who celebrate America's heritage and those who seem determined to replace it with something cold, crooked, and alien. The contrast could not be clearer or more deliberate. On one side stands towering marble, golden eagles, and inscriptions evoking "One Nation Under God." On the other, a bent, leaning metal structure that looks like a giant wire hanger or a failed piece of iron work. One lifts the spirit. The other drains it. Arch at the Obama Presidential Library. (@alx) June 1, 2026 These side-by-side images, now racing across platforms, capture two fundamentally opposed ideas of what a presidential legacy should look like and what America itself should feel like. One draws from the classical traditions that built the great monuments of Washington. The other embraces the brutalist and deconstructivist styles that have produced so many unloved public buildings in recent decades. The Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, set to open its doors this month, has long been criticized for its looming tower and heavy, fortress-like forms. It has been described as a "Tower of Doom," an eyesore that clashes with its surroundings and burdens taxpayers while delivering questionable public value. The 'arch' featured in the viral posts fits perfectly into that pattern: asymmetric, industrial, and devoid of warmth or grandeur. It is the physical embodiment of a worldview that treats traditional beauty as suspect and replaces it with abstract statements about power and disruption. In stark opposition, President Trump has advanced plans for a 250-foot classical triumphal arch to mark America's 250th anniversary. Designed ...

hapabapa/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Introduction There are over 1 billion people worldwide living with obesity , but only 2% are receiving treatment. Pricing is coming down to make treatment more accessible to a larger portion of the potential market. Country-specific discounts may be the next step in the progression to penetrate and expand additional markets. Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) has sales in 52 countries as of the end of 2025 with further expansion planned for 2026. There is still a lot of growth potential for treating obesity and diabetes, and NVO is well-positioned to address that market. I look for quality, dividend-paying companies that are temporarily out of favor that have above-average growth prospects and a history of consistently increasing dividends year after year. NVO meets my requirements and is currently yielding 4.2% while trading at a significant discount. Company Background Novo Nordisk is a large pharmaceutical company headquartered in Denmark with a global footprint. It operates in two segments: Obesity & Diabetes and Rare Diseases. The company markets its products in 170 countries, with nearly half of sales generated by North America, with the rest coming from international sales. NVO is the global leader in GLP-1 sales for obesity and diabetes, but Eli Lilly ( LLY ) has overtaken NVO in the U.S. market, which is the most profitable. Each company has advantages in different areas of the obesity and diabetes market. Both will continue to develop and test new options with even better potential patient outcomes, so domination could sway back and forth over time. Two recent NVO approvals will help improve sales: the Wegovy pill and the Wegovy HD (high dosage) for continued use. I’ll explain the advantages later. The battle isn’t over yet. Earnings Q1 results were mixed. GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) EPS (earnings per share) beat by $0.85 but adjusted EPS missed by $0.05. Revenue missed by $184.9 million, coming in at $11 bi...

In an exclusive interview with The Verge , Nanoleaf CEO Gimmy Chu says the company will remain independent and that he and his cofounder and COO, Christian Yan, will continue to run it. "Nothing is changing operationally," says Chu, adding that there are plans for product integrations between the two smart home companies. The sale, which Chu characterized as "more of a merger," will provide Nanoleaf with significant resources, including a cash infusion that will, among other things, help the company grow its team at its Toronto headquarters. Today’s recipe is taken from one of the tastiest recipes in the book, Venezuelan corn cake arepas with “pulled” oyster mushrooms and this sweet, umami-rich and intense barbecue sauce, all topped with a refreshing kohlrabi and mango salsa. The founder of 23andMe Research Institute wants to reach 100 million users, an ambitious goal after the seller of DNA testing kits emerged from bankruptcy as a nonprofit. 23andMe has the DNA of about 13 million users who mailed in saliva samples in exchange for data about their genetic code. In an interview with Bloomberg’s The Circuit with Emily Chang , Anne Wojcicki said it needs to expand its customer base dramatically. “To do things we want to do, particularly in an AI world, you want hundreds of millions” of users, she said. 23andMe and Wojcicki have gone through a tumultuous few years. The company’s board resigned en masse two years ago, just a few weeks after the death of her sister, Susan, who had been YouTube’s chief executive officer. Wojcicki describes being blindsided by the board’s move, calling it “an unbelievable surprise to me.” After going public in 2021, the company never turned a profit as it struggled to convert one-time genetic test buyers into paying subscribers for other health services. Wojcicki planned to take the company private, but negotiations with the board broke down. One of the former board members, Patrick Chung, said in a statement that “it became necessary to reorganize 23andMe and cut some programs,” but the company’s mission “remains fully alive” under Wojcicki’s leadership. Once valued at about $6 billion, 23andMe filed for bankruptcy last year. A few months later, Wojcicki won an auction for the company’s assets, agreeing to pay $305 million for the cache of customer DNA data. She has turned 23andMe into a nonprofit. It still sells an ancestry service as well as other, more expensive products, including a kit that includes DNA analysis and blood testing. It’s also making its DNA database accessible to researchers and contributing to published scientific articles on obesity drugs and cannabis. 23andMe operates in a different tech and political landscape than it did in its early days. Direct-to-consumer health platforms have gone...

Sitecore A/S, the digital-experience software company, has acquired Scrunch, a customer-experience platform that helps brands improve how they appear in AI-generated search results, according to a statement reviewed by Bloomberg. The deal is worth about $225 million, said people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified because the details aren’t public. Representatives for Sitecore and Scrunch declined to comment on the valuation. The deal comes as consumers frequently turn to large language models such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini to compare products and make shopping decisions. That’s created a risk for brands as AI may omit or misrepresent their products in search results. Artficial intelligence has created the first new “marketing funnel” since the internet was created, as humans increasingly rely on AI agents to browse websites on their behalf, Eric Stine, Sitecore’s CEO, said in an interview. “The real opportunity for companies is to understand what questions their buyers are asking, where they are in those answers and what they can do about it,” he said. Scrunch helps brands understand how they are represented in AI search answers, helping them maximize how they reach and serve their customers, Scrunch CEO and co-founder Chris Andrew said. Combining with Sitecore’s digital experience platform will help brands increase traffic, improve conversion and measure performance, the companies said. Andrew is staying on at Scrunch along with the rest of the team and will continue to serve as CEO of the division. Scrunch was founded in 2023 by Andrew and Chief Technology Officer Robert MacCloy, raising funding from Mayfield, Decibel, GTM Capital and other backers, according to its website. Sitecore has been owned by EQT AB since 2016.
