Electric two-wheelers on the company’s platform are expected to jump to more than 5,000 from 2,500 as riders ditch internal combustion engines, Uber East Africa General Manager Imran Manji said. “Every week more and more drivers are switching to electric, choosing electric, and the fleet is just growing exponentially,” Manji said in an interview. “We have what we believe is the largest fleet of electric bikes in the country through our fleet partner.” Read More: Uber Drivers to Buy Electric Motorcycles From Kenya’s Opibus Uber has contracted Nairobi-based Greenwheels to buy the motorcycles and lease them out to riders, usually over a two-year period, Manji said. “In Kenya, we see strong long-term potential for electric two-wheel mobility, particularly given the important role they play in first-mile and last-mile connectivity,” Manji said. The total fleet of registered electric vehicles in the East African nation surged to 39,324 in 2025 from 1,378 in 2022, driven by two-wheelers, according to the Ministry of Transport. By 2027, annual sales of electric two-wheelers are projected at more than 63,000.

Reactor Developers Advance Sweden's Nuclear Ambitions While State Puts Up $3.7 Billion Sweden advanced its nuclear revival with two major filings for new capacity and a government proposal to commit up to $3.7 billion in state capital for SMR projects. On May 18th, Blykalla submitted the first application for an advanced reactor park under Sweden’s new siting process. The Norrsundet site would host six 55-MWe SEALER lead-cooled reactors, for 330 MWe total. CEO Jacob Stedman called it a historic first for Sweden, and linked the technology to meeting AI and electrification demand with reliable baseload power. Blykalla has a prototype facility underway at Oskarshamn with Uniper and partnerships with Oklo and ABB. Studsvik filed in May for 600-1400 MWe of SMR capacity at its Nyköping site. This follows the Studsvik group’s earlier March application for Valdemarsvik. CEO Karl Thedéen highlighted the site’s decades of expertise and the intention to deliver real grid capacity in the 2030s as part of the company’s ReFirm program. The government also recently proposed to acquire a 60% stake in Videberg Kraft AB, the Vattenfall-led project company for up to 1500 MWe at Ringhals. Vattenfall is the state-owned utility company. The support package includes an initial SEK 1.8 billion ($193 million) injection and up to SEK 34.3 billion (~$3.7 billion) during construction , plus a share of SEK 122 billion (~$13 billion) baseline waste system costs. The structure aims to de-risk the first mover so later projects share fixed costs. Videberg is choosing between five GE Vernova Hitachi BWRX-300s or three Rolls-Royce SMRs, with selection later this year and investment decision in 2029. Goldman provided some additional color on Swedish nuclear projects in their recent industry summary. We also touched on Studsvik’s acquisition of Kärnfull Next, which highlights the ongoing skilled engineering manpower bottleneck. Timelines for first power remain in the early 2030s, with visible construct...

Forward has generally thrived at the Camp Nou but Gordon’s arrival plus his salary and United’s transfer demands mean next move is not obvious The next chapter of Marcus Rashford’s dysfunctional relationship with Manchester United may involve a long summer waiting to discover where he plays next season. A state of limbo for a forward expected to start England’s World Cup opener against Croatia on 17 June in Dallas is an unusual predicament. Yet this is the latest juncture in a period of career uncertainty that began when the former head coach Ruben Amorim excluded Rashford from his first-team plans. That was in December 2024, loans at Aston Villa and Barcelona followed, and Rashford is still looking to put down roots, perhaps in Catalonia, something he may well have expected to transpire after scoring a free-kick against Real Madrid that proved pivotal in Barcelona’s La Liga-clinching clásico victory earlier this month. Nestle SA is taking full control of ready-to-drink meal maker yfood Labs GmbH , bolstering the company’s push to focus on faster-growing brands, according to people familiar with the matter. The Swiss foodmaker, which acquired a 49% stake in Munich-based yfood in 2023, is buying out founders Noel Bollmann and Benjamin Kremer for an undisclosed sum, said the people asking not to be named discussing confidential matters. The deal values yfood at around €450 million ($523 million), they added. Bollmann and Kremer set up yfood in 2017 while working in the financial industry after spotting a gap in the market for healthy and quick meal alternatives when working long hours in the office. Instead of reaching for a chocolate biscuit or a packet of chips, they wanted consumers to reach for a yfood “complete meal” drink. The brand, whose bottles are known for their “This Is Food” large lettering, now also sells shakes, powders, bars and bowls across about 30 European countries, generating annual revenue of nearly €150 million in 2025. Nestle’s move is the first acquisition under Chief Executive Officer Philipp Navratil who took charge in September with a plan to streamline operations and promote brands and categories more likely to be in demand in the coming years. Although yfood is well known in Europe, there is significant scope for it to expand in the US, one of the largest markets in the world for meal-replacement products, the people said. What once started there as a market for dieters wanting slimming shakes has grown into a diversified category offering consumers a wide range of specialized products. In 2022, Nestle bought a majority stake in Orgain, which has one of the top selling plant-based protein ready-to-drink shakes in the US. Nestle also owns nutritional drinks brand Boost. Nestle is not the only foodmaker expanding in this area. In March, Danone purchased UK-based Huel , a maker of fortified protein powders and drinks backed by celebrities like actor Idris E...
