Indra Sistemas SA ’s new top executive plans to focus on improving deliveries to Spain’s Defense Ministry and other clients following several management changes and strategy reviews in recent years. “Our priority and main focus is to be able to deliver, deliver, deliver,” Chief Executive Officer Josep María Recasens , who took over last month, said on the sidelines of NATO’s meeting in Ankara. “We are working on land vehicles, drones, radars. We are increasing our delivery capabilities by six to 10 times.” Indra announced Recasens’ appointment in May to replace José Vicente de los Mozos , who left after only three years with the company. In April, Ángel Simón joined as chairman to replace Ángel Escribano , who had been in the position for just 15 months. The Spanish government is Indra’s largest shareholder and has used its clout over Indra to seek to steer it toward growing its defense business and consolidating the domestic industry. Indra has several business lines, including air traffic and IT services. In defense, it specializes mostly in electronic warfare, radar and sensor systems. Although the share of defense in the company’s revenue has increased in recent years, Indra’s size as a defense contractor still significantly lags some of its main European peers. Prior to joining Indra, Recasens spent the bulk of his career at Renault SA , where he was most recently chief strategy officer. “Our priority is to be capable of assuming our role within our domestic market, scale it and make it competitive and attractive so as to satisfy the needs of our natural direct clients, the Defense Ministry and the Armed Forces,” Recasens said. This can give Indra “the capability, legitimacy and credibility to offer our technology beyond” Spain.

Hyperscalers and neoclouds need more than just GPUs to fill their data centers, because to power and train AI models, those processors need rapid access to massive amounts of data, and that data has to live somewhere.
