The gauge was also supported by Celestica Inc. , an electronic components manufacturer riding a renewed burst of optimism in the artificial intelligence trade to contribute the most points to the index. Uranium producers such as Energy Fuels Inc. and Nexgen Energy Ltd. helped make the TSX’s energy subsector the top-performing group as of 1 p.m. on Tuesday. The rally happened as major uranium producer Urenco USA said it would boost capacity in its American enrichment facilities to offset uranium bans in Russia. Financials were the second-best performers, with Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. and insurance company Sun Life Financial Inc. leading the advance. The Iran war has created volatility for the Toronto index, which fell to a year-to-date low on March 20 as gold mining stocks cratered. Canadian stocks have made back all of the losses, growing more than 10% this year, slightly behind the 11% gain for the S&P 500. Financials and metals helped push the S&P/TSX Composite to its most recent record close on May 25.

That's a significant difference from the case count the WHO relayed Friday , which totaled 1,041 cases, including 135 confirmed cases and 906 suspected. Over the weekend, the director-general of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, Jean Kaseya, also wrote in an op-ed that there were more than 1,100 suspected cases. CMRG is in talks with Fortescue ( FSUMF ) over a new term contract, and the negotiations are not progressing well, according to the report. The news has prompted speculation that China could impose a purchasing ban on some Fortescue ( FSUMF ) products as it did during negotiations with BHP that concluded earlier this year . Fortescue ( FSUMF ) reportedly is planning to introduce a new lower-grade iron ore product, known as the Fortune Fines, with first shipments scheduled for July.
