'Crypto Spring': StanChart Sees Ethereum Outperforming As Mt. Gox Moves $739M BTC From Cold Wallets “Over the past week, we acquired 26,497 ETH,” Bitmine Immersion Technologies Chair, Tom Lee, said in a statement on Monday. “In our view, ETH prices are not reflecting the strengthening of Ethereum fundamentals, but then again, this is not surprising given we are in the early stages of crypto spring .” As CoinTelegraph reports, Bitmine is the largest Ether treasury company with 5.4 million ETH worth more than $10.5 billion. It had slowed its pace of buying earlier this month after scooping up more than 100,000 Ether a week for three straight weeks. Lee told CNBC on Monday that there is disappointment in crypto at the moment because it hasn’t moved while other sectors like software are rallying , but argued that it “always happens at the end of crypto winter.” Lee argued that the thesis for Bitcoin and Ethereum that he believes in still stands; that they are likely to be the future of money , despite the short-term price downturn across the market and some long-term holders and whales selling . “As AI systems evolve, we’re now talking about using commerce and operating websites, you need decentralized identity and verification, and that’s really what crypto does,” he said. “We know Wall Street wants to go toward tokenization; it’s a vast improvement in efficiency of how money actually moves, and it’s an innovation. That only happens on Bitcoin, Ethereum and other smart contracts. The future isn’t changed.” Meanwhile, Bitcoin has tumbled to two-month lows, dramatically diverging from traditional equity markets' recent surge... Andri Fauzan Adziima, research lead at Bitrue Research Institute, told Cointelegraph that some analysts have noted that Bitcoin is the only major asset in contraction right now, and the divergence is notable. “It shows Bitcoin is trading more like a high-beta risk asset tied to macro sentiment rather than an independent hedge,” he added. “This gap...

Supatman/iStock via Getty Images A Tech Stock with 4 Earnings Beats in a Row It's been a while since I wrote about a tech stock, so one that I picked to follow up on is Appian Corporation ( APPN ), a Virginia-based company known for the Appian Platform , an integrated automation platform that enables organizations to design, automate, and optimize critical business processes. APPN - what do we do (May investor deck, pg. 7) Notably, the company beat Q1 earnings estimates when it reported recently on May 7th, its 4th quarterly beat in a row, which is impressive. However, since my Hold rating in Oct. 2024 , the stock has had mixed results, having risen somewhat at one point but then falling again. My neutral view at the time was driven by demand for its platform but also concerns over negative equity and lack of profitability at the time. In today's follow-up, I'll discuss some material points from Q1 results and other relevant data to see if my prior thesis changes. A Neutral View Continues to Dominate My hold rating stands, even after updated research and the latest data. Although the company shows strength in top-line growth and its proven use cases for major industries, as well as declining debt and strong operating cash flow, it is not a dividend payer, and its price upside is limited, hurting it as a capital growth idea too, while it also still has to prove itself with steady profitability. Appian - rating worksheet (author) AI and Process Complexity Driving Tailwind In this first section, I considered top-line growth factors and gave the stock a strong buy after considering Q1 YoY growth, FY26 positive guidance, the proven 5-year growth trend, and proven client demand for solutions to assist in process complexity and AI use in large organizations. Let's talk about where this company has been lately and where it could be going in terms of top-line growth. From Q1 results (pg. 1) , we can learn that cloud subscriptions revenue was "up 25% compared to Q1 2025," whi...

Alphabet will appeal to yield-oriented investors with the $15 billion of mandatory convertible preferred stock that it plans to sell as part of its plan to raise $80 billion of equity to fund its huge AI capital spending program. The Alphabet convertible preferred offering, one of several equity deals announced late Monday by the company, is expected to be priced later Tuesday after the close of trading at $50 a share with a dividend yield about 6.5%, in line with the dividend on an Oracle mandatory convertible sold in February. It will amount to a twin offering with $7.5 billion of preferred convertible into Alphabet’s class A voting shares and the other $7.5 billion of preferred exchangeable into the company’s nonvoting class C stock.

Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: HOOD) has definitely built up its brand as a trading platform, but growth has relied on some volatile products, including cryptocurrency. The stock has traded largely in line with the rise and fall of Bitcoin recently, which means it hit a high last October before falling hard. Robinhood stock is down about 41% from its high hit last year. However, management is confident about its disruptive platform, and it's been rolling out new segments and products to lead the company forward. Most recently, it has launched artificial intelligence (AI) agents for trading and even credit card purchases. This approach may be harnessing the latest technology to stay ahead of the competition, but other factors might be more important. Image source: Getty Images. Continue reading

Sundry Photography Shares of Hewlett Packard Enterprise ( HPE ) have soared 90% over the past 30 days and nearly 50% in the past five days alone. We asked Seeking Alpha analysts Seeking Profits and Bashar Issa if they thought the stock was now overvalued. Seeking Profits : While shares have rallied substantially, HPE ( HPE ) isn’t overvalued, as the company is benefiting from the surge in AI CapEx. With hyperscalers raising hundreds of billions in fresh equity capital, this supercycle will persist into 2028. Given the limited physical supply of servers and physical infrastructure, legacy players like HPE have tremendous pricing power, leading to surging margins and free cash flow. With this set to continue for some time, HPE can rally further. Bashar Issa : I don't believe HPE is overvalued. It is obviously spending a lot on working capital as it scales to meet the increased demand, and that squeezes FCF. However, assuming this spending normalizes, a forward P/E ratio in the high teens suggests a mid-single-digit earnings yield, which, combined with future growth, justifies today's price. Seeking Alpha's Quant rating for HPE is currently a Hold . The Canadian equities benchmark passed 35,000 for the first time on a broadening rally in energy and financials. The S&P/TSX Composite Index gained as much as 1% on Tuesday, reaching an intraday record of 35,081.06 as energy and nuclear names rose. The gauge was also supported by Celestica Inc. , an electronic components manufacturer riding a renewed burst of optimism in the artificial intelligence trade to contribute the most points to the index. Uranium producers such as Energy Fuels Inc. and Nexgen Energy Ltd. helped make the TSX’s energy subsector the top-performing group as of 1 p.m. on Tuesday. The rally happened as major uranium producer Urenco USA said it would boost capacity in its American enrichment facilities to offset uranium bans in Russia. Financials were the second-best performers, with Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. and insurance company Sun Life Financial Inc. leading the advance. The Iran war has created volatility for the Toronto index, which fell to a year-to-date low on March 20 as gold mining stocks cratered. Canadian stocks have made back all of the losses, growing more than 10% this year, slightly behind the 11% gain for the S&P 500. Financials and metals helped push the S&P/TSX Composite to its most recent record close on May 25.
