Perpetual futures are futures contracts with no set expiration date, designed to continually track the price of an asset. CBOE was -6.90% to $280.23 before noon on Tuesday, CME was -3.22% to $249.47, and ICE was -3.18% to $140.35. Last week, Coinbase said its futures commission merchant now offers access to global crypto derivatives markets, including crypto perpetual futures and options. "Crypto derivatives account for roughly 80% of global crypto trading volume. Options, perpetual futures, and other instruments drive the majority of that activity across international venues," Coinbase had said. "This is a multi-trillion dollar market in annual trading volume that U.S. customers have had no regulated way to access," the statement had added. Similarly, Kalshi ( KALSHI ) had announced the launch of perpetual futures contracts. The contracts will let U.S. investors access crypto perpetual futures on its platform, fully regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Kalshi is going to start with perpetual futures on Bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) and will expand from there, CEO Tarek Mansour told CNBC News in an interview, adding that Bitcoin is a very popular form of "perp". "Perpetuals allow you to just pick up or down, and then pick a level of leverage—you want this to move 1:1 with the price of Bitcoin or 5:1 with the price of Bitcoin—and then you can trade until you decide to exit," Mansour told CNBC 'Squawk on the Street'. syahrir maulana/iStock via Getty Images Investment Thesis Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company ( HPE ) performance yesterday marked an important inflection point for the AI industry, as enterprise and government customers start spending on on-premise and hybrid cloud infrastructure, where HPE's focus lies. The market is changing fast, creating new winners. HPE's AI go-to-market approach has been more prudent than other server providers, insisting on providing differentiated, high-margin solutions, as opposed to opportunistically jumping to fill a supply gap in a largely commoditized market. These include software products such as Morpheus, a hybrid cloud management software; GreenLake, HPE's cloud services; and Zerto for disaster recovery. The gross margin gap between HPE and Super Micro ( SMCI ) says a lot about their moat. Both companies sell servers. But HPE's proprietary technology components per server are much higher, being suited for its corporate clients, as opposed to hyperscalers. HPE's purchase of Juniper last year has also transformed HPE, adding high-performance data center networking and routing capabilities. Now HPE is almost a full-stack rack provider for AI applications, a critical value proposition for customers looking for a one-stop shop. Growth might have been slower than other AI server supply beneficiaries, but Q2 '26 seems to be the inflection point. This, combined with its low valuation, offers an attractive opportunity for long-term, risk-averse value investors. Q2 '26 Before digging into HPE's solid results, let's separate the hype from the real thing. Total sales grew by ~40%, driven by a mix of organic and inorganic growth. HPE purchased Juniper in July 2025. As a result, the Networking segment grew by $1.6 billion (148% YoY, reaching $2.7 billion). It’s that trying to assemble a film around the haphazard mythology of a toy and dusting off IP that a precious few still care about feels like something Hollywood has slowly been doing a bit less of, especially on a scale such as this. This year, hits have relied on either properties that audiences do have passion for (Scream, Michael Jackson, Mario, The Devil Wears Prada) or, radically, original ideas (Obsession, Backrooms, Goat, Hoppers). We haven’t endured an Underworld sequel or a Tarzan reboot since 2016, a Terminator film since 2019, a Dolittle reboot since 2020 or a GI Joe spin-off since 2021. Mattel might then have struck gold with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie in 2023, but that was both an unconventional, auteur-led one-off and based on a product millions were still buying on the regular (the year before release, the brand made more than $1.4bn).
