But now with its Extensions SDK , features can be added to Ableton Live with common JavaScript. Where Max is largely limited to MIDI and audio processing, Extensions can touch almost any part of the DAW simply by right-clicking within your Live set. The company provides a handful of example extensions that include the ability to bulk rename tracks, sketch out song arrangements, and slice up samples. The idea is that extensions can simplify tedious tasks, provide creative sparks, or even connect Live to oth … Read the full story at The Verge.

Welcome to The Brink . I’m Giulia Morpurgo , a reporter in London tracking the spread of English-born tools to restructure debt. We also have news on a public brawl between a South Korean retailer, its billionaire backer and the lender who bankrolled them. Follow this link to subscribe . Send us feedback and tips at debtnews@bloomberg.net . English Export Companies across Europe are increasingly turning to restructuring tools that allow them to overhaul debt outside traditional court processes. One of the latest techniques to gain traction is the distressed disposal, a mechanism that can help companies sidestep lengthy proceedings and dissenting minority creditors. The procedure stems from provisions in intercreditor agreements drafted under English law and has already been widely used across Europe. More recently, however, it was deployed to push through a debt overhaul for an Italian medical devices company, marking a first for the country and highlighting how these restructuring techniques are spreading to traditionally more conservative jurisdictions. Medical Technology and Devices , also known as MTD and owned by private equity firms Investindustrial and QuattroR , is using the tool to restructure its remaining liabilities after selling its consumer health division, Pic Solution , according to filings released last month and people familiar with the matter. The unit sale, completed in December, generated proceeds that were used to repay roughly €200 million of debt. Meanwhile, the shares in MTD and the remaining liabilities — around €225 million — were transferred to newly incorporated Luxembourg entities, which put in place new financing facilities and contractual arrangements. As a result, lenders no longer have recourse to the former borrower and guarantor group. In a distressed disposal, a company can transfer its assets to a new vehicle at the direction of a majority of a creditor class, typically senior lenders. In MTD’s case, approval from two-thirds of ...

Brendon McCullum backs quick bowler to bring ‘noise’ Gus Atkinson could play if conditions less hot at Lord’s England have announced a slimmed-down squad of 12 for the first match of the summer, against New Zealand at Lord’s starting on Thursday, postponing until the last minute a decision over whether to reward the “full noise” approach of Hampshire’s Sonny Baker with a Test debut. The approach mirrors that at the first Ashes Test last November, when England announced a 12-man squad that featured both Mark Wood and Shoaib Bashir before opting in the end for Wood’s extra pace. On this occasion Bashir will play, having been preferred to Rehan Ahmed as the team’s frontline spinner, while Jacob Bethell is fit after a finger injury and also able to bowl if required. The ' ceasefire ' continues to hold despite sporadic hostile actions by the primary parties to this conflict. Stellar first-quarter results/guidance from semiconductor names like Intel ( INTC ) and Micron Technology ( MU ) as well as AI related names like Snowflake, Inc. ( SNOW ) pushed the NASDAQ eight percent higher in May . Market concentration in the technology sector has surpassed the levels of the height of the Internet Boom. The State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLK ) was up 20% last month. Bespoke Investment Research What also has helped power a huge rally since the end of March has been continued hopes that the conflict with Iran will end soon. Every day there are tweets, articles, and commentary that, if nothing else, have spurred continued anticipation that the current ceasefire will at least be officially extended for a month or two while negotiations continue. Waiting for this to actually happen feels a lot like the play ' Waiting For Godot ' at this point. Goldman Sachs Investment Research More importantly, investors have displayed consistent hopes that an eventful peace agreement will quickly reopen the critical global chokepoint, the Strait of Hormuz. Some 20% of global oil exports flowed through this critical transit point before the U.S.'s latest adventure in the Middle East. While some workarounds have been put in place to move some oil and other exports around this blockage, over 10 million barrels a day are offline. This is the biggest global energy shock since the OPEC embargo of 1973. Goldman Sachs The United States has been more insulated than Europe and Asia from these events to this point, given the country's much higher energy production and independence. The impacts on the oil market have been mitigated by the drawdowns in strategic petroleum reserves in the U.S., Europ...

Justin Hamel/Getty Images News Blue Origin’s ( BORGN ) challenge following last week’s New Glenn rocket explosion extends beyond replacing the lost vehicle. The company must also repair significant damage to its launch infrastructure at Cape Canaveral, a process that could delay its plans to compete more aggressively with SpaceX ( SPCX ). Images from the site show extensive damage to the launch complex, including the destruction of a transporter-erector system used to move and position the rocket before launch. One of the facility’s lightning towers also collapsed, while other equipment sustained heavy damage. The setback comes at a critical time for New Glenn, which has completed only two successful launches and is central to Blue Origin’s efforts to win commercial, government and NASA business. The rocket is also expected to support future lunar missions under NASA contracts. For investors, the accident highlights the widening gap between Blue Origin and SpaceX at a pivotal moment for the space industry. As Blue Origin focuses on rebuilding critical infrastructure, SpaceX continues to expand its lead in launch services and government contracts, a dynamic that could attract even greater investor attention if Musk moves forward with a long-anticipated IPO. Industry analysts say rebuilding the launch site could take months or longer. Previous launchpad accidents in the space industry have required extensive repairs, with some recovery efforts lasting more than a year. Unlike SpaceX, which operates multiple launch facilities, Blue Origin currently relies on a single operational New Glenn launchpad in Florida. The company must simultaneously investigate the cause of the explosion while rebuilding damaged infrastructure. Although Blue Origin executives have indicated some key systems survived the blast and pledged to return New Glenn to flight before year-end, the incident is expected to disrupt launch schedules for both government and commercial customers. The delay co...
