JHVEPhoto/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Introduction In one of my toughest calls, I rated Micron ( MU ) a Sell in late March , and the stock sure did prove me wrong. It has gained over 220% in possibly one of my worst short-term stock picks. I was simply on the wrong end of one of the sharpest re-ratings in semiconductor history. I, therefore, want to go through again the new Micron and see if my thesis still holds for the long term or not. Current Dynamics My anchor view has always been that the memory’s cyclicality would reassert itself and that Samsung ( SSNLF ) and SK Hynix would compete and push prices down as they clawed back high bandwidth memory, or HBM, share. The stock is now over $1,000 as the cycle ran hotter and longer than my framework allowed, and anyone who was short paid for it. I would rather state that plainly than quietly reissue the same rating with new numbers. That said, I won’t flip to the opposite extreme of my rating, as the honest question today is simply, at an all-time high, is there still a margin of safety? So, what does the bull case hinge on at the current moment? First, the demand is structural as HBM now consumes north of 20% of global DRAM wafer output, up from near zero before the AI build-out, because HBM burns roughly 3 wafers for every one that standard DRAM needs per gigabyte. Every Wafer redirecter to HMB tightens commodity DRAM and NAND, which is why contract prices have been so high across the board rather than just at the AI tip. This is a supply-mix story and the mix does not unwind in a quarter. Second, the current visibility is a first in the industry as Micron, Samsung ( SSNLF ), and SK Hynix have all stated that 2026 is sold out , and Micron has even shifted major customers onto multi-year, volume and price committed agreements, which is a structural shift from the traditional 1-year handshake deals that defined prior cycles. Management has stated that the continuous tightness is set to persist beyond calendar 20...

Texas Capital has Angel Studios ( ANGX ) slotted as a top idea coming out of CinemaCon, despite its recent share price underperformance. Analyst Eric Wold and his team continue to view the faith-based film studio company as one of the more compelling ideas within the sector and expect the stock to outperform. "In addition to the stronger-than-expected 1Q26 AEBITDA demonstrating the operating leverage to come from a growing Angel Guild membership base, we believe the addition of five more theatrical releases in 2026 (vs. our original expectations) should provide an incremental tailwind to membership growth—with the new genres and actors joining the Angel platform helping the company to further penetrate the projected membership TAM. As positive AEBITDA comes into view later this year, we would expect a meaningful re-rating for the shares, highlighted Wold. Texas Capital's price target of $8 on ANGX is based on a target multiple of 2.5X the 2027 revenue estimate. Shares of Angel Studios ( ANGX ) were up 2.0% in Tuesday morning trading. Angel Studios went public in 2025 by merging with an already-listed SPAC, Southport Acquisition Corporation. The stock traded over $40 for close to a week. People from town of potential site for US citizens with Ebola symptoms say it puts them at risk in country with no known cases People from a town in central Kenya where the US wants to set up an Ebola quarantine facility for its citizens have strongly criticised the plan, saying they fear it will expose them to the virus and that it is indicative of double standards on the part of the US. “Everybody should be quarantined in their home country. We shouldn’t allow foreigners to bring us diseases,” said Charles Mathenge, a taxi driver who lives near Laikipia Air Base, the proposed site in Nanyuki, 120 miles from the capital, Nairobi. “Kenya is our country, and we should be careful with it.” Continue reading...

Slate Auto may be one of the most interesting companies in the American automotive industry right now. Based in Warsaw, Indiana, the startup is taking a completely different approach to building an electric pickup truck. Forget Ford's clean-sheet "skunk works" story ; the Slate Truck's design has been stripped down to just 600 parts and components . That minimalism includes the interior, where you'll find two seats and manually wound windows, but no infotainment system. If you're one of Ars' many readers who want an electric car that won't track you, Slate might have what you're looking for. It's not an entirely analog experience, though; a Slate smartphone app can manage settings, change drive mode, and provide range and charging info. But only when connected locally to the car—there's no embedded modem, so forget about remote access. And the company says that while it may use data from the app to improve its products, it won't sell that data. That's according to a new report from SAE International's (and sometime Ars contributor) Roberto Baldwin. "We are building it around ownership value," Slate said. "We collect data to make ownership better, not to turn the owner into the product. The app will collect data only when it directly contributes to enabling or improving a customer experience. Privacy is paramount. For Slate, privacy is not a compliance footnote. It is part of the product experience." Read full article Comments

But at the start of next season, as they try to leave behind the spying scandal that devastated their 2025-26 campaign, they could borrow a phrase from the poetry of Alexander Pope: to err is human; to forgive, divine. The club’s owner Dragan Solak has confirmed that their German head coach, Tonda Eckert, will not be sacked for his part in the fiasco that led to Southampton being kicked out of the playoff final. “I think he deserves a second chance and I would give it to him,” soothed Solak. “My full support would be behind him actually, because I think he’s a super-talented manager.” Don’t worry about your version of the Tim Payne tune, Andy Korman ( yesterday’s Football Daily letters ). If he heard it, he’d probably know the song was about him. He is probably walking into the dressing room like he was walking on to a yacht, with all this attention. The Phoenix kit could conceivably be called Apricot. Oh god, I’ll stop” – Jon Millard (and no other AOR enthusiasts). Ben Fisher reckons Andoni Iraola can ‘bring the swagger back to Arsenal’ (yesterday’s Still Want Mores, full email edition). Well, yes, but maybe that’s just a little too on-the-nose for Liverpool fans hoping for a resurgence at Anfield” – Mark Rae (and 1,056 others) Continue reading...

Vitol’s top executive in the Middle East said that many Western governments still aren’t reckoning with the oil supply crunch that’s rippling around the world due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. “In Europe and I think in the US, everyone is kind of asleep at the wheel and just carrying on life as normal,” Tom Baker, a board member at Vitol, said at S&P Global’s Middle East Petroleum & Gas Conference in London. While crude has risen near $100 a barrel, prices and volatility of oil products such as gasoline, diesel and jet fuel have seen bigger spikes. That’s led to a drop in demand in a number of developing countries, particularly in Asia and parts of Africa. Vitol estimates global demand destruction at around 4 million barrels a day, with countries delaying purchases in the hope that a resolution to the Iran war will bring down prices. So far, consumption has dropped less in richer countries, where the loss of supply from the Middle East is being replaced to some extent by strategic stockpiles . “I’ve even spoken to some of the government guys in the UK and they’re aware that there’s a crisis, but they don’t want to panic people by saying ‘change your spending habits, do things differently’,” Baker said, adding that US demand hadn’t fallen much. People are still driving, so it’s “maybe not fully impacted on gasoline yet.” Traders are looking at how the situation could pan out if the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked for much longer. One key factor to consider is China, whose cuts in imports have helped ease the impact of the war on global oil markets. “China won’t indefinitely not import 5 million barrels a day; and at some point when they need those barrels, the price needs to go higher and the only solver is to kill demand,” Baker said. “But are we at that inflection point or are we close? Maybe.”
