LME aluminum ( LMAHDS03:COM ) recently traded up 1.3% at $3,765/ton, marking an advance of more than 25% this year. In a sign of tighter markets, cash aluminum contracts were as much as $116.50/ton more expensive than three-month futures on Tuesday, the biggest premium since 2007, according to Bloomberg. Commodities are facing a " super squeeze " that will worsen if the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively shut , HSBC analysts said in a note. " The longer the strait is closed, the more inventories are run down, the more likely it is that we reach 'tipping points' in the markets for some commodities," HSBC analysts wrote, although knowing exactly when that might happen is hard to determine. For aluminum, "the structural demand story is positive, but a key driver of late has been the damage to smelting capacity in the Middle East," the analysts said, noting the region accounted for ~10% of global output before the conflict began. Up to 3.5M tons of Middle East aluminum production will be lost this year, roughly half the region's recent annual output, Wood Mackenzie analyst Charvi Trivedi told The Wall Street Journal . " We think we could see real physical scarcity of metal over the next six months in Europe or in North America," Alcoa ( AA ) CEO Bill Oplin ger told a Miami conference this month. A shell company linked to Elon Musk has been buying properties in a rural area outside of Houston in recent weeks, suggesting the billionaire is finalizing the location for a planned $55 billion semiconductor plant jointly backed by SpaceX and Tesla Inc. The firm, WIT Tech LLC, has acquired at least six parcels of land in Grimes County totaling more than 6,000 acres, or almost 10 square miles, according to property records. Financial details weren’t disclosed. Although Musk isn’t identified in the filings, WIT Tech’s most recent annual report with the Wyoming Secretary of State was signed by Jared Birchall , one of Musk’s top lieutenants, and the limited liability corporation lists a mailing address in Palo Alto, California, at the same office where SpaceX’s xAI subsidiary is located. Several of the Texas real estate transactions list James Burnham, the general counsel for xAI, as an authorized representative for WIT Tech. Musk, SpaceX and xAI didn’t respond to requests for comment. WIT Tech representatives didn’t respond to requests sent to the email and phone number listed on the filings. Musk in March detailed plans for the so-called Terafab chip plant , a joint effort involving SpaceX, Tesla and xAI, to support the artificial intelligence and robotics projects across his business empire. He has said the semiconductor industry is moving too slowly to keep up with the amount of chips needed for his initiatives and the broader tech industry, and has warned of geopolitical risks. The factory will cost at least $55 billion, according to a public notice filed in Grimes County last month. The estimated total capital investment could rise to $119 billion if additional phases of the project are completed. While the companies haven’t announced a formal location for the development, Grimes County had been expected to be on the short list following recent public county meetings discussing potential incentives. Nurphoto | Nurphoto | Getty Images Anthropic on Tuesday said it's expanding Project Glasswing to an additional 150 partners in more than 15 countries as companies test Mythos for software vulnerabilities. The startup said the expansion includes industries that weren't well-represented in the initial launch, such as power, water, healthcare, communications, and hardware. New partners will need to meet security requirements before gaining access to the model. "This expansion is the next step toward our long-term goals: for AI to make all software more secure, and for us to help the industry adjust to how AI could change many of the core assumptions of cybersecurity," the company said in a blog post. Anthropic rolled out initial testing of Mythos to 50 partners in April after raising concerns about the model's advanced cybersecurity capabilities. Worries that hackers could use Mythos to expose software vulnerabilities led to numerous conversations between the White House , Big Tech and financial institutions. Since launch, Anthropic said Project Glasswing partners have unveiled more than 10,000 high or critical security flaws. Anthropic's Mythos expansion comes a day after the company said it confidentially filed its IPO prospectus with the SEC, beating rival OpenAI to the milestone. The AI lab on Monday also said it would start offering Mythos access to the European Union . This is breaking news. Please refresh for updates. baranozdemir/E+ via Getty Images Credo Technology's ( CRDO ) fourth quarter fiscal 2026 revenue jumped more than 150%, and Chief Financial Officer Daniel Fleming said they expect an 80% surge year over year for the entirety of fiscal 2027. Shares jumped 7% during early market trading on Tuesday, and financial analysts remain overwhelmingly positive on Credo's direction. "On the composition of that growth, management noted that roughly half of the absolute dollar increase in FY27 comes from the optical portfolio, with the other half from the existing copper portfolio, mainly AECs," said Needham analysts, led by N. Quinn Bolton, in a Tuesday investor note. "Non-GAAP gross margin is expected to be broadly consistent with FY26 levels as well. Management also expects NG OPEX to grow ~50% Y/Y, well below the pace of revenue growth, and net margin to be ~50%." Needham increased its fiscal 2027 revenue estimate to $2.45B from $2.35B. It also reiterated its Buy rating and raised its price target to $275 from $220. "Additionally, with the updated guide implying limited AEC upside for FY27 ( with the raise largely driven by Optical ) as well as muted AEC growth in 2H of FY27 ( with the material Optical inflection earmarked for the back half ), copper bears will likely have something to chew on following the print," said J.P. Morgan analysts, led by Joseph Cardoso, in a note. "That said, we expect the AEC implications to be more a function of prudent guidance practices than a sign of a contracting opportunity, with management reiterating AECs as a 'core growth engine,' highlighting broadening adoption across hyperscalers and NeoClouds, and pointing to the upcoming transition from 800G to 1.6T and the associated ASP uplift as supportive long-term tailwinds." J.P. Morgan retained its Overweight rating and upped its target to $250 from $230. Similarly, Roth retained its Buy rating and boosted its price target to $300 from $200. "We are encouraged that CRDO's AEC cabling continues ...

Klaus Vedfelt/DigitalVision via Getty Images Investment thesis Note: This is an update to my previous article . Life360 ( LIF ) continues to execute well despite the concerns about how artificial intelligence could affect software companies. Revenue grew 38% year-over-year in Q1 2026, paying subscribers increased 27%, advertising is becoming a second growth source, and management raised the FY2026 guidance. While it remains uncertain whether Life360 can successfully evolve from a location-sharing app into a kind of family platform, the business looks better today than when I assigned my previous Hold rating. Given the company's nice execution so far and a valuation that looks reasonable relative to its growth, I'm upgrading Life360 from Hold to Buy. My last coverage Life360 is a company that I've covered twice before; both times were hold ratings, and the second time was pretty awkward. At that time the company had just achieved profitability while its paid subscriber base continued to grow. However, I opted for a hold because I thought the market could continue its compression of multiples because of the risk of the 2025 tariffs in the economy. Well, I was completely wrong, since my article marked the bottom, and from there the stock went up 240% in 6 months! My analysis ratings (Seeking Alpha) But that's when the fear of AI and its implications for software arrived. And here we are, with the stock only 35% above the price of my previous coverage while the S&P 500 is up 45% in that same period. Artificial Intelligence, is it a real risk? Historically, investors were willing to pay premium multiples for businesses with recurring revenue and high margins, like software companies. But in recent months, AI has changed the narrative, as the concern today is that software is becoming much easier and cheaper to develop, which is actually true. With the help of AI you can now create functional apps through vibe coding, even if you don't have much knowledge. So, imagine wha...
