Shares of Microchip Technology ( MCHP ) rose over 8% in extended trading on Monday after the company said it expects Data Center Solutions Business unit revenue to grow by 65% to about $500M in CY26. The semiconductor company said its Data Center Solutions Business Unit, which makes products exclusively for datacenters, generated $302.7 million in revenue in calendar year 2025. The company said its broader total Datacenter and Compute end market which also includes power management, catalog MCUs, analog and security products represented about 18% of total revenue. Microchip added that it is experiencing continued acceleration of revenue in this unit. In the March 2026 quarter, the unit’s revenue was up 62.9% from the prior year quarter. The company also said it has been monitoring input cost pressures from suppliers. “Having concluded that these cost increases are broad-based and cannot be fully absorbed by us, we have made the decision to implement price increases selectively across our broad product portfolio. We are working on the specifics and will be communicating that to our customers. The price increase will have no impact on our guidance or results for the fiscal quarter ending June 30, 2026,” it noted. Last month, the company said its revenue for the fourth quarter increased 35% year over year to $1.31B, which was more than the $1.26B estimate. It also forecast sales above Wall Street estimates. The company’s stock has risen over 40% so far this year, outperforming the 11% rise in the broader S&P 500 Index. The U.S. dollar was slightly up, as investors tracked evolving developments around the Middle East conflict, particularly U.S.-Iran tensions and ceasefire negotiations, alongside volatility in oil prices that influenced inflation expectations and risk appetite. The dollar index ( DXY ), which measures the greenback against a basket of major currencies, was last up 0.28% at $99.19, and remains up about 1.06% for the year to date. Dollar weekly moves and key drivers: Over the past week, the index rose 0.03%, with movements driven by shifting sentiment around geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, fluctuations in oil prices, and evolving expectations around the Federal Reserve’s interest rate path. Graphical Representation (SeekingAlpha) Early in the week, the dollar strengthened as renewed hostilities and U.S. strikes on Iran boosted safe-haven demand, while higher oil prices added to inflation concerns and supported the greenback. In subsequent sessions, the dollar remained firm amid persistent geopolitical uncertainty, with investors weighing the impact of elevated energy prices on inflation and the likelihood that the Federal Reserve could maintain a higher-for-longer rate stance. Midweek, the greenback held its gains as Treasury yields remained elevated and market participants leaned toward a more hawkish outlook, supported by resilient U.S. economic signals and continued geopolitical risks. Toward the end of the week, the dollar came under some pressure as reports of potential progress in ceasefire negotiations and a possible reopening of the Strait of Hormuz lifted risk sentiment, reducing demand for the safe-haven currency. In the latest session, the dollar was little changed to slightly higher, as investors balanced easing geopolitical concerns against still-firm rate expectations and closely monitored upcoming U.S. economic data. U.S. Treasury yields were mixed over the week, with the 10-year yield ( US10Y ) falling four basis points to 4.47%, while the 2-...

Maksim Safaniuk/iStock via Getty Images The NXG Cushing Midstream Energy Fund ( SRV ) is a closed-end fund that investors may wish to purchase as a means of earning a very high level of current income while having exposure to midstream energy companies, some of which are exhibiting respectable growth rates and boast strong balance sheets. The NXG Cushing Midstream Energy Fund has historically been quite good at the provision of income, as this fund has long boasted one of the highest yields out of any energy-focused equity funds. This remains true today, as the fund has an 11.43% yield at the current share price. This will undoubtedly be very attractive to anyone trying to live off of the income that their portfolio produces, as this yield results in the fund providing $114,300 per year in income for every one million dollars that is invested in it. Furthermore, unlike many other closed-end funds boasting double-digit yields, this one has historically done a reasonable job of actually covering its distribution. In fact, it has managed to fully cover the payout over the past three years. As the surge in crude oil prices over the past few months has revitalized interest in energy companies, let us take a look at this fund and see if it could be appropriate for your portfolio today. About The NXG Cushing Midstream Energy Fund The website for the NXG Cushing Midstream Energy Fund offers the following description of its objectives and strategy: The Fund’s investment objective is to obtain a high after-tax total return from a combination of capital appreciation and current income. The Fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing, under normal conditions, at least 80% of its net assets, plus any borrowings for investment purposes, in midstream energy investments. This description explicitly states that the NXG Cushing Midstream Energy Fund invests in midstream energy companies. However, it does not state exactly what types of securities we should expect to f...

imaginima/iStock via Getty Images Hallador Energy ( HNRG ) said post-market Monday it agreed to acquire ~460 MW of Siemens gas turbines, generators, a steam turbine, and ancillary equipment from Energy World Corp. for $350M, plus ~$100M in incremental costs for transportation, refurbishment, insurance, and logistics related to the delivery of the equipment to Siemens USA and then on to its Merom site. Hallador ( HNRG ) said the acquisition's ~$450M delivered price represents more than half the estimated total project cost for the proposed Merom simple cycle natural gas-fired combustion turbine project, which is currently advancing through MISO's ERAS interconnection process. The turbines have never been previously fired and are being acquired at what the company said is an attractive valuation to comparable new equipment alternatives, particularly given the current delivery windows for new turbines. "This acquisition represents a meaningful step in Hallador’s evolution toward a more diversified, multi-fuel generation platform capable of serving the growing demand for reliable, dispatchable power in MISO Zone 6," Chairman and CEO Brent Bilsland said.
