CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman arrives at the courthouse on the day of the trial in Elon Musk's lawsuit over OpenAI for-profit conversion at a federal courthouse in Oakland, California, U.S., May 12, 2026. Carlos Barria | Reuters Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier on Monday filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman , alleging that the artificial intelligence company knowingly released an unsafe product that could harm users. The 83-page complaint claims that OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot has aided and abetted mass shooters in "deadly rampages," driven vulnerable people to suicide, harmed users' critical thinking skills and caused minors to become addicted to the tool, which "feigns human compassion." "This litany of harms is driven by Defendants' insatiable quest to win the AI arms race and amass large fortunes, despite knowing the danger of ChatGPT," the filing said. With the lawsuit, Uthmeier's office is seeking to hold Altman personally liable for the alleged harm he has caused to Florida residents because of his conduct as CEO, including his "utter disregard for the risk to human life," according to the complaint. It is also seeking to force OpenAI to comply with obligations under the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act. OpenAI did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment. The company is being sued by seven families of the victims of the Tumbler Ridge mass shooting, which took place in Canada in February. The families allege that the attacker used OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot to plan the attack, and that the company did n...

isil terzioglu/iStock via Getty Images With travel demand remaining healthy and U.S. resort fundamentals showing no signs of a slowdown, Goldman Sachs takes a more constructive view of the timeshare space and now sees Marriott Vacations and Travel + Leisure Co. ( TNL ) as a Buy, and views Hilton Grand Vacations ( HGV ) with a balanced risk/reward. “Investor debate has increasingly shifted away from macro concerns, integration issues, and execution missteps in 2024 and 2025 towards execution-driven earnings growth and self-help,” Goldman Sachs analysts led by Lizzie Dove write in their note to clients. As one of the more compelling self-help stories in gaming, lodging, and leisure, with an attractive valuation and current earnings “materially” understating the structural EBITDA potential of the business, Dove and team upgrade Marriott Vacations Worldwide ( VAC ) to Buy from Neutral with a revised price target of $100, representing 17% upside to Friday’s closing price. More importantly, VAC management appears to be gaining traction on a number of controllable operational initiatives, while underlying demand trends remain healthy, Dove adds. Travel + Leisure ( TNL ) also earned an upgrade to Buy on its “compelling long-term algo of mid-single-digit EBITDA growth and EPS growth in the teens,” which Dove views as unachievable elsewhere in Goldman’s travel coverage at TNL’s current valuation. “TNL has avoided some of the mistakes of its peers and instead stuck to its bread and butter and focused on execution of its core business. Additionally, we believe TNL’s 2026 guidance is too conservative,” the analyst team notes. TNL is assigned a new price target of $85, translating to 25% upside to Friday’s closing price. Finally, Hilton Grand Vacations ( HGV ) is no longer considered a Sell by the analyst team, as the reasons for the bearish rating are no longer relevant. “HGV has come through the [Bluegreen Vacation] integration and is starting to harvest the benefits from HGV M...

A seemingly boundless rally in space-related firms is showing further signs of weakness, with several stocks stumbling for a second day on Monday, as the public debut of Elon Musk ’s SpaceX looms. The Procure Space ETF — trading under the ticker “UFO” — has dropped almost 11% in just two sessions. Over the same period, shares in Intuitive Machines Inc. and Rocket Lab Corp. each have fallen about 17% and retail-darling AST SpaceMobile Inc. has sunk almost 23%. Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc. soared as much as 44% on Monday before paring gains to as little as 1.1%. The group first took a hit late last week after Jeff Bezos -backed Blue Origin saw its New Glenn rocket explode during a late Thursday test in Florida. Friday also saw Space Exploration Technologies Corp., better known as SpaceX, cut its IPO valuation target to $1.8 trillion from at least $2 trillion. “That implies valuations are a bit rich,” said Bloomberg Intelligence analyst George Ferguson . The Blue Origin blow-up was “a reminder that this is a difficult business,” he added. In recent weeks, the cohort of rocket, satellite and other space-related stocks surged as SpaceX’s imminent, record-setting IPO boosted investor interest in the sector. The Procure Space ETF, for example, is still up almost 60% year-to-date despite the recent rout. Read More: Space Rally Gets Reality Check With Blue Origin Blowup Jefferies analyst Greg Konrad downgraded space infrastructure firm Redwire Corp. to hold from buy on Monday. Konrad wrote that the stock’s recent gains do not correlate with financials and instead reflect “multiple expansion on the excitement of the SpaceX IPO that has shed a positive spotlight on the space sector.” Redwire shares sank 16% on Monday, after closing down 5.1% on Friday. Before the selloff, the stock price had almost tripled last month to a record high. For BI’s Ferguson, as the SpaceX debut creeps closer, investors in the sector may reallocate their exposure toward the Musk venture. “The marke...

PM Images/DigitalVision via Getty Images Consumer discretionary stocks are showing improving earnings momentum as analysts raise profit expectations across several retail, automotive, restaurant, and e-commerce companies. Strong EPS revision trends are often closely watched by investors because upward earnings estimate revisions can signal resilient consumer demand, stronger margins, and improving business fundamentals. Seeking Alpha’s EPS Revision Quant Grades rank stocks based on changes in analysts’ earnings estimates using a grading scale that ranges from F to A+. The latest screen highlights consumer discretionary companies with market capitalizations above $10 billion across a wide range of industries, including discount retail, luxury goods, online commerce, restaurants, automotive manufacturing, and consumer services. Leading the list are Five Below ( FIVE ) and Ross Stores ( ROST ), both of which earned the highest possible A+ EPS Revision Grade. Five Below currently carries a Strong Buy Quant Rating of 4.69, while Ross Stores holds a Hold rating of 3.42. Burlington Stores ( BURL ) and Tapestry ( TPR ) follow closely with A EPS Revision Grades, reflecting continued strength in discount retail and branded consumer goods. Amazon ( AMZN ) rounds out the top five with an A- EPS Revision Grade and stands out as the largest company on the list with a market capitalization of approximately $2.91 trillion. Amazon also carries the highest overall Quant Rating among the group at 4.95, earning a Strong Buy designation. The screen further includes companies spanning multiple consumer-focused industries, including Aramark ( ARMK ), AutoZone ( AZO ), Darden Restaurants ( DRI ), eBay ( EBAY ), and General Motors ( GM ). The diversity of the list highlights broad-based improvements in earnings expectations across several corners of the consumer discretionary sector. The head coach has received help from Team GB, drawing on their Olympic experiences, and other specialists to find solutions for the weather conditions. Some of Tuchel’s 26-player squad flew from Birmingham to Miami on Monday for a 10-day hot-weather acclimatisation camp. Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze have been given more time to recover after Saturday’s Champions League final and Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson, who played the Conference League final last week, is also expected to be a later arrival. This Is How Leftists React To Facts... Authored by Steve Watson via Modernity.news, When presented with uncomfortable irrefutable statistics on migrant crime, those on the left don’t debate—they threaten violence and scream about history as an excuse for chaos today. That’s exactly what unfolded outside the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, Saunday. GB News chief US correspondent Ben Leo was on the ground covering anti-ICE protests—already marked by days of clashes, a hunger strike by detainees, and assaults on officers—when he calmly laid out basic facts about illegal migrant crime patterns in the UK while engaging with the ‘protesters’. The furious black nationalist got inches from Leo’s face, accused Brits of colonizing the world “through rape, murder and pillaging,” and warned he was “holding everything back not to break your f * **ing jaw.” Me: certain nationalities in UK are more likely to commit sexual offences than Brits Leftist nutcase: “I’m gonna break your f*****g jaw.” ICE detention facility in New Jersey. I’m not surprised Charlie Kirk was murdered. These people are lunatics. pic.twitter.com/ET8GzoJhCM — Ben Leo (@Benleo) May 31, 2026 Leo stood his ground without flinching. Lurking right behind the seething guy, a spectacled soy leftist pathetically attempted to pile on, weakly joining the intimidation effort by demanding Leo “go back to your country”—the height of irony at an open-borders rally. The incident, captured on video and shared widely, shows how facts about immigration enforcement trigger outright rage from open-borders activists. While ICE works to secure America’s borders under policies prioritizing law and order, protesters treat any challenge to mass migration as a personal attack worth physical intimidation. In the clip, Leo began by referencing data showing certain nationalities in the UK are disproportionately involved in sexual offences compared to native Brits. The protester immediately pivoted to colonial hi...

DNY59/iStock via Getty Images After starting 2026 with relatively poor performance, the S&P 500 ( SPY ) has shot higher in recent weeks, once again buoyed by the AI boom. However, valuations are at levels that historically have signaled lost decades are ahead. In this article, I'm going to take a look at why I think that this is one of the most disadvantageous setups in indexes right now, why there is a major market disconnect forming, and how I am taking advantage of it. Valuations Flash a Century-High Warning Today, the S&P 500's Shiller CAPE ratio sits at one of its highest readings in over 140 years and is more than double its long-term average. Data by YCharts While it is true that today's tech names are much higher quality and the valuation numbers are very similar to what was seen in 1999, history has still shown that whenever the CAPE has gone above 30, a decade of poor inflation-adjusted returns has tended to follow. In fact, Howard Marks recently warned that the next decade could produce near-zero real returns at current valuation levels, and since then, the CAPE has only risen further, adding weight to his warning. While some would argue that this metric is completely broken since there have been accounting changes like stock-based compensation, research and development capitalization, and the fact that AI is a truly revolutionary technology that is going to lead to enormous growth, no matter how you adjust for these accounting changes, the ratio is still very high historically. While it is very true that AI could lead to a surge in growth and productivity, this has been priced in already. The hurdle that AI will have to clear to justify current valuations is very high, and in my opinion, it's not a bet that I would want to put the lion's share of my net worth on happening, which is what investors are doing when they pour money into broad-based market indexes or even mega-cap tech stocks themselves. Stagflation Signals Are Multiplying The concerns I have ...

One of the benefits of building an AMD PC is that AMD has historically supported its processor sockets for longer than Intel does, allowing the same motherboard (and RAM kit, if you want) to power your PC through multiple CPU upgrades. Today at Computex, AMD announced chips for the current AM5 socket and the improbably-still-around AM4 socket that will help extend their lives a little further, a nod to just how expensive it has become to build a new PC or perform a major upgrade these days. The first of these announcements is something we knew about already : the re-launch of 2022's Ryzen 7 5800X3D , the first of AMD's commercially available 3D V-Cache processors. Dubbed a "10th Anniversary Edition" in reference to how long Socket AM4 has been around, the re-released chip is slower than regular 8-core Ryzen 5000-series CPUs in general productivity tasks, but comes with 64MB of extra L3 cache that disproportionately benefits games. If you're trying to use a high-end GPU with an AM4 motherboard, it could help keep your CPU from being a performance bottleneck. The 5800X3D (re-)releases on June 25 for a suggested retail price of $349, which is less than it currently costs to buy secondhand. As for the current AM5 socket, AMD officially announced that it was extending its support to at least 2029—it was originally planned to last until 2025 , and then until " 2027+ ," so this means between two and four years of additional support, depending on how you're counting.
