Wise Plc shares dropped as much as 18% in London on Monday and said it’s working to answer queries from prosecutors in Belgium, after a report that the firm is under investigation over its anti-money-laundering controls. Prosecutors in Belgium are investigating concerns that Wise’s accounts have been used by people to launder proceeds of fraud, drug trafficking and corruption, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism reported on Monday. The investigation was opened last year, it said. “We are currently working with the Brussels prosecutor to respond to queries about our business, as we routinely do with regulators and law-enforcement authorities,” Wise said in its statement . Requests for information from law enforcement agencies “are a normal part of operations and are not, in themselves, indicative of non-compliance with anti-money laundering requirements or of any wrongdoing,” the company said. Wise made its trading debut in the US last month in an effort to take advantage of a larger stock market and entice new investors. Belgian prosecutors didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Pakistan aims to grow at a slightly faster pace in the upcoming fiscal 2027 even as the crude price shock from the Middle East war clouds the outlook for the nation that continues to rely on support from the International Monetary Fund. The country will be looking for 4% gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the next fiscal, according to a working paper of the Annual Plan Coordination Committee shared by the Ministry of Planning at a news briefing in Islamabad. The country targeted 4.2% growth in the ongoing 2026 financial year ending June, but the National Accounts Committee forecasts a 3.7% expansion. Pakistan expects inflation at 8.2% next year. The ministry’s proposed targets for the next financial year will have to be approved by the prime minister and parliament. The country’s budget for fiscal 2027 will be announced this week. Pakistan is currently implementing an IMF program, which compels fiscal discipline. Since the Iran war began, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz—a key bottleneck for global energy flows—has increased uncertainty.
