LG Electronics Inc. shares have quadrupled this year as investors applaud the venerable Korean appliance maker’s shift into robotics. After largely sitting out Korea’s chip-fueled AI rally last year, the stock has started to gain traction in recent months. It rose by its daily limit of 30% for a second-straight session Monday on reports that LG Group Chair Koo Kwang-mo will meet with Nvidia Corp.’s Jensen Huang on June 5. The gains highlight how investors are increasingly turning to alternative ways to trade the AI boom as the rally in chip stocks becomes more stretched. The hunt for new winners has coincided with Huang’s drive to expand physical AI businesses such as robots and self-driving vehicles. The Nvidia chief’s meeting with LG’s Koo will focus on expanding cooperation in physical AI, according to Shawn Oh , head of Korea cash equities at NH Investment & Securities in Seoul. “Collaboration may broaden across LG affiliates” including LG Innotek Co. and LG Uplus Corp. , he added. The group has expanded far beyond the original electronics business it started in the 1950s under the name Goldstar. It’s been growing ties to AI kingpin Nvidia as it seeks to develop robots for various functions. Among other related stock moves Monday, LG CNS Co. surged as much as 29%, LG Corp. gained 26%, LG Innotek rose 23% and LG Uplus added 17%, all touching new all-time highs. Huang is in the region this week for the Computex tech showcase in Taipei. His daughter Madison Huang met with LG Electronics President Lyu Jae-cheol in April to discuss collaboration details, and the Korean firm is now using Nvidia’s Omniverse platform for smart-factory digital simulations. “Huang’s visit is less a one-off corporate meeting than a signal of what role Korea will play in Nvidia’s global AI infrastructure expansion strategy,” Meritz Securities Co. analyst Soowook Hwang wrote in a note. “The market repriced not who will build AI services, but who will construct the physical foundation to run ...

JavierHuras/iStock via Getty Images Introduction Back when I last covered Patria Investments Limited ( PAX ), I reiterated their Buy rating, arguing that a potential rotation towards emerging markets over the long term could offer a major boost for the company, while the underlying business continues to deliver massive growth both organically and through M&A. Despite their significant growth, a dividend hike, and plenty of long-term potential, the stock is now down by about 20% since covering them, leading me to a Strong Buy upgrade, as the gap between the stock and the business is now irrationally high, in my opinion, with major repricing potential in the future alongside their strong organic growth. Strong Growth Continues Patria Investments Limited IR Patria reported an overall solid Q1 report, with a slight miss on EPS and a beat on revenue, delivering a strong 19% increase in Fee Related Earnings (down 21% QoQ due mostly to the lack of the incentive fee seen in Q4) and $42.4 million in Distributable Earnings in Q1 ($0.27 per share), for a strong 15% YoY increase and 14% on a per share basis. Patria Investments Limited IR Meanwhile, we see them achieve yet another significant increase (31%) in Fee Earning Assets Under Management (FEAUM), nearly 40% of them being in US assets, backed by the company's $5.6 billion organic capital inflows, a positive $2.7 billion valuation impact, and $4.9 billion from their strategic acquisitions, among others, with the completion of the WP Global Partners deal announced a couple of months ago. As their growth continues, the company's CFO reiterated their 2026 guidance during the Q1 Earnings Call : Overall, we are reaffirming full year 2026 FRE guidance of $225 million to $245 million or $1.42 to $1.54 per share. Approximately 15% to 16% growth from last year's $202.5 million. We are also maintaining our 2027 FRE target of $260 million to $290 million. The conversion rate varies from quarter to quarter (from Fee Related Earnings (...

India’s state-owned oil refiners have kept jet fuel prices steady for local flights following a plea from airlines to hold off on further hikes as they grapple with the fallout from the Iran war. The fuel price for domestic flights will remain unchanged at 104,927 rupees ($1,104.25) a kiloliter in New Delhi for June, according to spokespeople from the state oil processors. In April, the cost of so-called aviation turbine fuel was raised by 8.6%, with the government requiring they stay constant in May. Refiners also provided additional relief to Indian airlines by reducing jet fuel prices for international flights, although the spokespeople didn’t immediately provide details on the size of the cut. Last month, India’s airlines asked refiners including Indian Oil Corp. and Bharat Petroleum Corp. to halt price increases for local flights until the end of the war, according to a Bloomberg News report. Key carriers have been forced to reduce flights through March and April due to depressed demand in the world’s third-largest domestic aviation market, after passing on elevated costs to fliers in the form of higher fares. India is heavily dependent on imported crude and fuels, and surging prices due to the conflict in the Middle East are weighing heavily on the nation’s economy. The country’s state-run refiners are racking up huge losses , forcing them to raise the cost of fuels including gasoline to offset some pressure. India has announced a number of measures to soften the blow to the aviation industry, such as rebates on plane parking charges, and tax reductions on fuel for flights operating out of Delhi and Mumbai, its biggest airports. Airlines are also grappling with a weaker rupee, which makes it costlier for them to pay in dollars for aircraft leases and overseas airport charges. The nation’s ...
