thexfilephoto/iStock via Getty Images Investment Thesis Energy Transfer ( ET ) has the highest yield among the largest midstream operators at about 7%. This is due to its elevated leverage of around 4.25x; however, this leverage will provide higher returns as the US energy sector booms due to the Iran war. Background Energy Transfer is one of the largest and most diversified midstream operators in the United States. The company has operations in 44 states with around 140,000 miles of pipelines that span from crude oil to natural gas. Company's webpage The company is very diversified, with NGL and refined products having the highest weight at 26%. In fact, it even has participation in other companies operating in other industries, like Sunoco ( SUN ), which is a fuel distribution company, or USA Compression Partners ( USAC ), a provider of natural gas compression services. Investor presentation Moreover, the company is investing mostly in Natural Gas transportation and NGL, which I consider to be the segments with the best prospects given the expected increase in electricity demand. In fact, the company has already secured some contracts not only with power plants but even with Oracle itself to provide gas for three data centers . Investor presentation Energy Transfer has planned growth CapEx of around $5.25 billion for 2026, which will allow the company to continue growing at least until 2030 as it targets returns in the mid tens. Another characteristic of the company is that insiders own a substantial share of the company, which does not happen in other midstream operators. Insiders own around 10% of the company, and this ensures that despite having higher leverage than peers, management will try to secure the company’s future and maximize shareholders’ returns, as they are well aligned. Investor presentation In that regard, the company expects to continue growing its distribution between 3% and 5% per year, and during the last few quarters, the company has been in...
