The $15 trillion ETF industry isn’t waiting long to see how SpaceX performs before turning it into a leveraged trading vehicle. A wave of funds tied to Elon Musk ’s rocket company is set to launch shortly after Friday’s IPO, underscoring the extraordinary buzz surrounding what many investors see as a once-in-a-generation listing. Nearly a dozen exchange-traded funds from issuers including ProShares, Leverage Shares, Defiance ETFs, GraniteShares, REX Shares, Direxion and Tradr ETFs are slated to launch on Monday, barring any last-minute regulatory hurdles. Their products are designed to deliver twice the daily long or inverse performance of SpaceX stock and would give traders an immediate way to amplify bets on one of the most anticipated listings in years. The near-simultaneous launches highlight the speed at which ETF issuers are moving to capitalize on the arrival of a company that has already become a market phenomenon before any shares have publicly changed hands. And with the product structures looking largely similar, issuers have been left competing on distribution, marketing reach and speed to market, where even a matter of minutes could prove decisive in the race to gather assets. “Being first or as close to first really matters,” said James Seyffart , ETF analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence . “So issuers are going to pull out every trick in the book to have their levered ETFs trading as quickly as possible following an IPO.” More than 20 SpaceX-linked ETFs have already been filed for this year, ranging from leveraged and inverse strategies to options-based products. Read more: Sitting Out the SpaceX IPO? Why That’s Hard to Do: Explainer Investors likely won’t get access to the newfangled products on Friday, when SpaceX makes its public debut. Cboe Global Markets and the New York Stock Exchange , where many of the vehicles are expected to list, have asked issuers to delay their launches until Monday, according to four people familiar with the matter who asked...

New Delhi Furious After Tanker Strike Off Oman Leaves Three Indians Dead, Summons US Envoy In a development that's unprecedented or at least extremely rare, India on Wednesday summoned a US diplomat in the capital of New Delhi over what it blasted as an illegal "attack" on a vessel off Oman this week. Jason Meeks, charge d'affaires of the US Embassy in New Delhi, was formally summoned by the Indian government to protest the US military attack on the Palau-flagged Settebello. There had been 24 Indian crewmen on board - but 21 were rescued . Later, the three missing crewmembers were confirmed dead . CENTCOM posted footage of strike action on the ship's engine room. US CENTCOM by Thursday had confirmed: "Earlier this week, U.S. aircraft disabled Palau-flagged vessels M/T Marivex and M/T Settebello on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Marivex violated the blockade by attempting to sail to an Iranian port and Settebello attempted to transport Iranian oil ." The attack which killed three Indian sailors occurred off the coast of Oman, and the killing of the Indian nationals has made global headlines. Many thousands of Indian sailors are currently stranded in the Gulf region, and so the situation remains highly dangerous for them and other international crew. According to the BBC : Rajesh Sharma, father of Aditya Sharma, a cadet on board the Settebello who died in the strike, told the BBC that the family was waiting for his body to be returned to them. He said his son was due to return home in May, but his duty got extended. He added that he had last spoken to his son on Sunday. He questioned why the captain of the tanker chose to go near the Strait of Hormuz and called for an inquiry. "Who is responsible for the deaths [of the three Indian sailors]? The circumstances that led to the deaths must be investigated," he said. The Pentagon's favored tactic has been to fire hellfire missiles into a tanker's engine room when it fails to comply with warnings not to continue on its ...

Risto0/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Some investors still think about Nokia ( NOK ) as a traditional telecommunications equipment manufacturer that is still rolling out 5G. This perspective appears to be incorrect and provides a potential buying opportunity as the market continues to underestimate the potential of its AI and optical/IP network technologies. Nokia reported that net sales from AI and cloud customers grew 49% YoY and accounted for 8% of group sales, while AI and cloud orders reached €1 billion in Q1. Although the growth has started to shift away from its traditional segments, the valuation of the stock doesn't seem to fully reflect this transition. The acquisition of Infinera is a significant development, which closed in February 2025, providing Nokia with the necessary scale to compete against major players in optical networking as they look to capture AI-based demand from data centers. This is a segment that has grown faster than Nokia had estimated, leading to management increasing their estimates to a CAGR of 27% from 16% between 2025 and 2028. NVIDIA Corporation's ( NVDA ) $1 billion strategic equity investment in the company also validates that the company has a significant role to play during the AI boom, representing a shift beyond the next generation 5G equipment cycle. Operational improvements have also started to show up in the company's financials, with comparable gross margin increasing by 320 bps to 45.5% during Q1, comparable operating profits improving by 54%, and a strong balance sheet with €3.8 billion in net cash at the end of Q1. In my view, the market is undervaluing this transition as a key data center networking provider, which leads me to rate the company a BUY with a 12-month price target of $16.50 per share. AI and Cloud Growth Engine In Q1, net sales to AI and cloud customers accounted for 8% of group revenue, up 49% year over year, with no signs of this trend slowing down. The company also took in €1 billion for AI and c...

MicroStockHub Former Kansas City Federal Reserve President Tom Hoenig is calling for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates, arguing that current monetary policy is too stimulative and contributing to persistent inflation. In an interview with CNBC, Hoenig said real interest rates remain negative and well below neutral levels, creating conditions that will keep core inflation elevated. "When you suppress interest rates as they have been doing, and you have real rates negative, the wealth effects—that is, those who own assets—are going to be the beneficiaries of that," Hoenig explained. He noted this dynamic is distorting markets, driving consumers out of the housing market, and keeping consumption steady among affluent Americans while inflation runs hot. Hoenig does not expect the Fed to act at next week's meeting, citing the central bank's reluctance to surprise markets and potential political pressure from Congress and the executive branch. However, he warned that delaying action comes with risks, particularly in managing inflation expectations. "It would delay the adjustments that need to take place," he said. The former Fed official suggested the central bank should move before the election period begins, advocating for gradual, systematic rate increases to bring policy closer to neutral. "They don't have to take big chunks of movement, but they need to start gradually moving it up closer to a neutral rate, which I think they're well below right now," Hoenig said. On the topic of Fed communication, Hoenig was critical of the central bank's dot plot projections, calling them unreliable. "If you look at the history of the dot plots, they've misled as much as they've helped, I think," he said, suggesting the Fed would be better served by focusing on current conditions rather than trying to signal future moves. Hoenig also dismissed the idea that the European Central Bank's recent rate hike should influence Fed decision-making. While acknowledging the ECB's act...

Eoneren/E+ via Getty Images 2 Numbers Reveal the Divergence of Old and New AI Economy In recent days, all major equity indices (ranging from DJI , SP500 , NASDAQ , and RTY ) have been exhibiting heightened volatility around record price levels. This has caused a flood of analyses to be pushed into my inbox, many of which are calling for an imminent market crash. However, as a long-term investor, I tend to be more interested in A) the fundamental structure of the market mechanics and B) of course, what to do about a structural change when I see one. Under this context, the goal of this macroeconomic piece is to share a trend I have been sensing in recent months. To keep the article tight, I will use the two most representative numbers in my mind to illustrate this trend. The first number intends to illustrate the market’s extreme optimism about the new AI economy. I have a multitude of metrics to make the point, and I'm sure you can find them too. So here let me just cite one number: The P/E ratio of the iShares Semiconductor ETF ( SOXX ). As seen in the chart below, the reading is now hovering around 73x despite the correction in recent days (and I will better contextualize this number in a minute). SOXX fund facts Don’t get me wrong, I share the market’s enthusiasm about the new AI economy to a large degree too. I'm just genuinely curious about how and when we can eventually get there. In my assessment, AI development has already transitioned from a speculative technological trend into the most capital-intensive deployment in corporate history. This assessment leads me to the second number, a number that intends to illustrate the slowdown of the old economy since the rise of AI technologies. Again, you probably have seen other metrics to illustrate this slowdown, but I find the following number in the chart below extremely telling. To wit, the next chart tracks the average YOY growth rates for the quarterly dividend payments of the so-called dividend champion stock...

In this article FRO Follow your favorite stocks CREATE FREE ACCOUNT watch now VIDEO 3:11 03:11 Iran launches retaliatory attacks following fresh U.S. strikes Europe Early Edition Commercial ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz should quickly increase if the U.S. and Iran reach a stable agreement that improves security in the strategic sea lane, the CEO of a leading oil tanker company told CNBC. "I'm actually very optimistic the minute the tide turns and the U.S. and Iran have found some sort of agreement, at least not to attack shipping, that those transits are going to resume pretty quickly," said Lars Barstad, CEO of the publicly traded tanker company Frontline , in an interview this week. Headquartered in Cyprus, Frontline has a fleet of 80 vessels that transport crude oil and petroleum products around the world. Five of its tankers are currently stuck in the Persian Gulf due to the closure of Hormuz, Barstad said. Traffic through Hormuz will not return anytime soon to prewar levels when 130 to 140 vessels crossed daily, Barstad said. But a credible deal between the U.S. and Iran should lead to a material increase above the trickle of five to 10 ships currently transiting the strait daily, the CEO said. Some shipping companies have positioned tankers close to the Gulf in order to cash in on a reopening of Hormuz, Barstad said. Frontline has not positioned vessels for an opening, he said. "Certain actors are positioning themselves purely commercially to try and be near this kind of opening scenario," Barstad said. "You could say keeping the ship is like holding on to a call option on something that might happen." But it is far from clear whether the U.S. and Iran will reach an agreement as the security situation remains volatile. President Donald Trump said the U.S. will bomb Iran again Thursday after launching a round of airstrikes on Wednesday. The escalation comes after Trump said Monday that a deal was just days away. Shippers will eventually grow tired o...

Luis Alvarez/DigitalVision via Getty Images Piper Sandler Companies ( PIPR ) for me looks like a quality investment banking stock, but after its strong growth, its valuation leaves less room for safety. PIPR operates as a specialized investment bank whose revenue structure is more and more dependent on advisory services. In the last 12 months, finished on March 31st, 2026, the company generated $2.02 billion in revenues, recording 30.9% annual growth compared to the prior year. This jump was over the $1.899 billion result in 2025 and shows a successful establishment in the middle market M&A deals segment. 2026 Q1 results announced on May 1st showed revenues of $475.15 million, from which investment banking made up around 73%. Advisory services generated $251 million, which is 16% growth, and corporate financing added $73 million. Even though business volumes increased, GAAP EPS was at $0.92, which shows profitability stabilization after the March completed stock split in the ratio of 4:1. The current P/E ratio is around 18x, which is well below what it was at the end of 2024 at around 28x level, though it still suggests a high valuation compared to the sector's averages. Net income margin at 14% and operating margin at 20% show that the company maintains discipline, though it is sensitive to deal cyclicality. The increased quarterly dividend to $0.20 suggests that the management is confident in its cash flows even when there is a slower pace of mergers of large banks in the first half of 2026. These numbers confirm that PIPR's value is directly dependent on its ability to maintain transaction flow when interest rates are changing. Business overview Piper Sandler operates as a pure-play investment bank, focused on the middle market segment, whose revenues are generated from two main segments: investment banking and institutional brokerage. In Q1, investment banking generated 348.2 million in revenues, which makes up around 73% of the turnover, and the institutional b...
