primeimages/E+ via Getty Images Wedbush’s global head of technology research Dan Ives believes the AI investment opportunity is still in its early stages, predicting tech stocks will rise another 15% this year. In an interview with CNBC, Ives emphasized that the upcoming earnings season will be crucial for validating the ongoing shift back to mega-cap technology investments. “We’re in the third inning of this nine-inning game relative to AI, and that’s bullish,” Ives said, explaining why dip buyers will continue to support broader tech despite geopolitical concerns. He noted that investors should follow the capital expenditure trends, which he sees as the key indicator of the sector’s health. The analyst pointed to growing evidence that AI’s economic impact is spreading throughout the tech industry. He cited Texas Instruments reporting a 90% year-over-year increase in their AI-centric data center unit, along with signs of life at Intel and growth at companies like Cisco and Dell. Ives estimates that for every dollar spent on Nvidia ( NVDA ) chips, there’s an $8 to $10 multiplier effect across the rest of the technology sector. Looking ahead to next week’s hyperscaler earnings reports, Ives expressed strong optimism about what the results will show. “I think what you’re gonna see is not just a reiteration of CapEx. Monetization is starting to happen from an AI perspective,” he said, predicting beats across the board for cloud businesses at Amazon ( AMZN ), Google ( GOOG ) ( GOOGL ), and Microsoft ( MSFT ). When asked to name his favorite tech stock outside the “Mag Seven” mega-cap companies, Ives chose Palantir without hesitation. “That’s at the epicenter. That’s, I believe, a trillion-dollar market cap in the next two or three years,” he predicted, underscoring his conviction that AI-focused companies will continue to see substantial growth. Ives also highlighted the demand dynamics supporting his bullish thesis, noting that demand for Nvidia chips currently outstri...

krblokhin/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Amazon ( AMZN ) continues to generate large deals with its in-house chips, with Meta Platforms ( META ) being the latest. Under the new agreement, Meta plans to deploy "tens of millions" of AWS's Graviton processors to power its AI as the two companies expand their partnership. Meta will use the Graviton5, a chip featuring 192 cores and a cache five times larger than its predecessor. The greater bandwidth helps agentic AI systems. The chip is built on 3-nanometer technology. "This isn't just about chips; it's about giving customers the infrastructure foundation, as well as data and inference services, to build AI that understands, anticipates, and scales efficiently to billions of people worldwide," said Nafea Bshara, vice president and distinguished engineer at Amazon. "Meta's expanded partnership, deploying tens of millions of Graviton cores, shows what happens when you combine purpose-built silicon with the full AWS AI stack to power the next generation of agentic AI." "As we scale the infrastructure behind Meta's AI ambitions, diversifying our compute sources is a strategic imperative," added Santosh Janardhan, head of infrastructure, Meta. The deal also exemplifies the importance of CPUs in AI workloads related to agentic tasks, such as real-time reasoning, code generation, search, and orchestrating multi-step tasks. Financial details of the deal were not made public, but it is expected to last for at least three years. Earlier this week, Amazon struck a deal with Anthropic to provide the Claude maker with up to 5 GW of capacity powered by AWS's Trainium chips and Graviton cores. Anthropic agreed to spend more than $100B over the next decade as part of the agreement. These agreements should benefit companies such as Marvell ( MRVL ), Astera Labs ( ALAB ), and Credo Technology ( CRDO ) as they serve as key suppliers for Amazon. Amazon shares edged up nearly 2% during pre-market trading on Friday. Marvell and Astera Lab...
