Lloyds Banking Group Plc is looking to sell its first significant risk transfer deal of the year, linked to loans to small and medium-sized companies, according to people familiar with the matter. The potential SRT is tied to a lending portfolio of about £3.1 billion ($4.2 billion), the people said, asking not to be identified because the plans are private. Discussions with investors are at an advanced stage but terms of the transaction could still change, they added. A spokesperson for Lloyds declined to comment. Banks sell SRTs to hedge the risk of default on a pool of loans, boosting their solvency ratios and allowing them to redeploy capital for more profitable purposes. If losses materialize, the buyer absorbs some of the hit. Investors such as Blackstone Inc. have been piling into the booming market , drawn by returns that often exceed 10%. Read More: Blackstone Is Buying SRTs as Banks Rush to Hedge Loan Risks Lloyds completed three SRT deals last year tied to infrastructure financing, agricultural mortgages and commercial real estate loans, it said in an earnings presentation in April. Those SRTs took the form of so-called synthetic transactions, where the ownership of the underlying assets remains with the bank. The UK lender didn’t carry out any SRTs in the first quarter but said in April’s presentation that it planned to “remain active” in 2026. Others continue to do deals. Societe Generale SA is completing an SRT tied to over €9 billion of loans, while BNP Paribas SA is in talks with investors on at least two such deals, Bloomberg has reported.

Lawyers ask prosecutors to upgrade charges from manslaughter in light of text messages discussing fire risk Lawyers for victims of the deadly New Year’s Eve fire in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana have formally asked prosecutors to upgrade the charges against the bar’s owners after text messages emerged discussing the danger. Forty-one people were killed and 115 injured in the blaze at Le Constellation bar, which investigators believe started in the basement when sparklers attached to champagne bottles were held too close to sound-insulating foam on the ceiling. Rising demand for central processing units as companies increasingly focus on agentic artificial intelligence is a boon for Intel , and is convincing Bank of America to turn from bearish to bullish on the stock. The bank double upgraded its rating on the stock to buy from underperform. It also raised its price target to $135, which represents a 26% gain from Wednesday's close. Analyst Vivek Arya wrote in a Thursday note that turnaround in his sentiment comes from a shift in the AI buildout to focus on CPUs instead of XPUs. "Agentic AI differs from traditional genAI by shifting from a single prompt-response workflow to a multi-step system that plans, reasons, retrieves info, uses tools, executes code simultaneously," he wrote. "While XPUs remain critical for inference, many orchestration and decision-making functions are latency-sensitive, sequential, and [input-output]-intensive — making them better suited for CPUs." Arya now forecasts that CPU sales could reach $40 billion by 2030. CPUs in the first quarter of 2026 brought in $5.1 billion in revenue. Shares of Intel have surged 60% since its earnings report released April 23 , when the company showed signs of revenue growth. Still, fewer investors own the stock than other major chip companies. That gives Arya a positive outlook for shares too. "INTC is the 2nd least owned (after SNDK ) semis/AI infra stock in SPX as of May 2026 despite its ~$540bn mkt cap being 5th in the group," he wrote. "At just 16% ownership (up ~300bps MoM), we flag potential for ownership broadening to lead to stock gains." Shares of Intel were up 4.5% in premarket trading Thursday. Michael M. Santiago | Getty Images U.S. stocks just flopped again as fresh selling in the all-important tech cohort dragged all major indexes into the red after an early attempt to rally Wednesday. The question on every trader's mind: how bad could it get? With the epic rally in AI stocks now taking major hits, it's a fair question, and one that options-market makers are always calculating. To get the odds of a specific move, investors need only to pick the relevant strike price of a security's option and the delta of that corresponding contract, from which the odds of closing in the money, or touching the strike, can be approximated. For the S&P 500 , a technical bear market decline of 20% from the closing high of 7,610 would mean a slide to 6,088. Put contracts on the index are pricing in a 10.5% chance it closes at that level on Aug. 31, according to data from ThinkOrSwim. The odds of it touching that price between now and then are generally double, or about 21%. For the Nasdaq 100 , the chance goes up to 32%. Stock Chart Icon Stock chart icon S&P 500, YTD "I think it sounds high in the Nasdaq and low in the S&P 500 – from a volatility standpoint I'd be selling Nasdaq, buying S&P vol," Scott Bauer, CEO of Prosper Trading Academy, said in a call. "This individual stock volatility is affecting Nasdaq more but eventually that should at least stop going higher, it's at pretty extreme levels. There's definitely some FOMO selling with people trying to free up cash for SpaceX." Implied volatility in the Nasdaq 100 is almost 33, compared to 22 in the S&P 500. Concentrated selling in big-tech AI winners is responsible for the spread, which means the odds of steeper moves in either direction will be higher in the tech-heavy Nasdaq. Maksim Labkouski Dana ( DAN ) said Thursday it agreed to merge with Eaton's ( ETN ) Mobility business in a $5.1B deal that would create a global powertrain leader focused on commercial and light vehicles with $11B in sales and $1.7B in adjusted EBITDA. The combination will integrate Dana's ( DAN ) global powertrain, thermal, and sealing technologies with Eaton Mobility's ( ETN ) commercial vehicle transmissions, engine and emissions products, and advanced electrification capabilities, creating a more comprehensive supplier serving commercial and light vehicle markets, as well as the associated aftermarket channels, the companies said. Eaton ( ETN ) shareholders would own at least 50.1% of the combined company at closing, while Dana ( DAN ) shareholders would own 49.9%. Under the deal terms, structured as a Reverse Morris Trust, Eaton ( ETN ) would receive a cash distribution of ~$1.1B, subject to adjustments for cash and indebtedness, the companies said. Strategy (MSTR) CEO Says Bitcoin Sale Was About Market 'Inoculation', Not A Retreat Authored by Micah Zimmerman via BitcoinMagazine.com, Strategy Inc. CEO Phong Le somewhat pushed back Tuesday against the wave of criticism that followed the company’s first Bitcoin sale since 2022, telling CNBC’s Power Lunch that the move was a deliberate, limited exercise designed to signal operational flexibility — not a philosophical reversal. “We wanted to inoculate the market and we wanted to test our processes,” Le said in what the network described as a first-time interview. “We learned that everything works.” Between May 26 and May 31, Strategy sold 32 Bitcoin for approximately $2.5 million at an average price of $77,135 per coin — a transaction that, despite representing just 0.004% of the company’s total holdings, set off an outsized market reaction and reignited debate over whether Michael Saylor’s famous “never sell” doctrine was being abandoned. BITCOIN’S FOUR-YEAR CYCLE IS STILL IN PLAY Strategy CEO Phong Le however says the drawdowns are "much more" than just where we're at in the four-year cycle. Inflation, rates, wars, and regulatory clarity are all shaping $BTC 's next move. pic.twitter.com/TZANZZaQIF — CryptosRus (@CryptosR_Us) June 10, 2026 Le was careful to frame the disposal in terms of balance sheet management rather than conviction. He cited three reasons for the sale: establishing that Strategy can sell when necessary, confirming that internal systems for executing Bitcoin disposals are fully operational, and creating opportunities to capture tax losses on Bitcoin acquired at lower cost basis — the company has purchased BTC at prices ranging from $10,000 to $125,000 per coin. Critically, he said the sale was not driven by financial distress. “We did not need to sell our Bitcoin to satisfy our dividends,” Le said. “We’re able to do that through other capital-raising activities.” Proceeds from the sale were directed toward distributions on the company’s STRC pe...

According to the Journal , CEO Tim Höttges “plans to retire at the end of 2028 and wants the right successor to be found first” The company has previously declined to comment on the reports.
