Incidentally, another supermajor, Chevron (NYSE:CVX) , through its acquisition of Hess, had disclosed a $2.89 billion profit in 2025 from Guyana. It’s no secret that oil companies and investors are looking to diversify their energy investments away from any single region. Continue reading

Alones Creative/iStock via Getty Images Airbus ( EADSF )( EADSY ) said it secured a €345 million ($400 million) contract from Thales Alenia Space to develop and manufacture two radar instruments for the European Space Agency's next-generation Sentinel-1 Earth observation satellites. The agreement covers the development and production of advanced C-band synthetic aperture radar systems for the Sentinel-1 Next Generation constellation, which forms part of the European Union's Copernicus Earth-monitoring program. For Airbus investors, the contract adds to the company's backlog in space systems and Earth observation programs, a business segment that has remained strategically important as Europe seeks to strengthen sovereign space capabilities and climate-monitoring infrastructure. The radar payloads are designed to provide high-resolution measurements of environmental changes, including sea-level rise, glacier movement and land deformation. Unlike optical imaging systems, SAR instruments can collect data through cloud cover and at night, enabling continuous monitoring regardless of weather conditions. The Sentinel-1 NG satellites are expected to improve upon the capabilities of the current Sentinel-1 fleet. According to Airbus, the new radars will increase observation swath width to 400 kilometers from 250 kilometers while improving geometric resolution to 5 meters by 5 meters from 5 meters by 20 meters. The satellites will also extend coverage to polar regions through the use of active beam-steering technology. Airbus said the first Sentinel-1 NG launch is expected in 2034, with the system intended to provide Earth observation data into the 2040s. The contract continues Airbus' involvement in the Sentinel-1 program. The company previously supplied radar instruments for the four first-generation Sentinel-1 satellites launched between 2014 and 2025. Under the new agreement, Airbus will manufacture and test the C-band radar systems at its Friedrichshafen, Germany, facili...
