Kalshi's logo appears on a smartphone placed on a reflective surface, with a blurry betting curve projected in the background in Creteil, France, on March 9, 2026, during a major scandal and $54 million lawsuit concerning bets related to recent strikes in Iran. Nurphoto | Nurphoto | Getty Images Prediction market platform Kalshi's perpetual futures have already crossed $1 billion in trading volume within a week of their launch last week, the company shared exclusively with CNBC. The company officially launched trading on crypto perpetual futures, or "perps," on Wednesday, and in the first 24 hours saw more than $100 million in volume. Perps are futures contracts with no expiration date that allow traders to speculate on a price without owning the underlying asset. Contracts track the price of an asset continuously, with funding payments keeping the perpetual contract price aligned with the market. The asset class has over $90 trillion in annual global volume, according to Bank of America, but before Kalshi there wasn't a way to trade the contracts in the U.S. (Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour will make an appearance on CNBC's "Fast Money" on Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET.) Kalshi received regulatory approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on May 29 to be the first company in the U.S. to offer perp contracts. Coinbase on the same day also received approval from regulators to offer its U.S. traders access to global perp contracts through an affiliate. Pent up domestic demand has been reflected on Kalshi since the launch. A spokesperson said that at one point the waitlist to access perps on the platform had more than 1 million people on it, and that it's the fastest growing product in the company's history. It took Kalshi 40 months to see $1 billion in trading volumes across its event contracts. Perpetuals marked the company's biggest product launch since it first launched its prediction markets. Disclosure: CNBC and Kalshi have a commercial relationship that includes cu...

PM Images/DigitalVision via Getty Images The actively managed Capital Group Dividend Growers ETF ( CGDG ) has a forward yield of just under 2%. The portfolio is split about 50/50 between U.S. and non-U.S. and has ~15% exposure to emerging markets. In this educational overview, I’ll cover how CGDG is constructed and what’s in the portfolio. I’ll then discuss the fund’s performance, how it might respond to different markets in the future, and the ETF’s closest global dividend-focused peers. What's CGDG's Investment Strategy And Cost? First, the fund’s mandate . At least 80% of net assets must be invested in equities and 80%+ in dividend-payers specifically. CGDG is classified officially as non-diversified; individual holdings can have large weightings, though that hasn’t been the case thus far in the fund’s history. The portfolio is run by four managers who work semi-independently, picking stocks based on current yields, payout histories, and the potential for future dividend growth. Holdings change when a manager decides a stock is no longer attractive (i.e., there’s no fixed rebalancing schedule). CGDG started trading in Fall 2023 and now has just over $5B in assets. Its expense ratio of 0.47% is much higher than passive alternatives like the Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF ( SCHD ) at 0.06% and the iShares Core Dividend Growth ETF ( DGRO ) at 0.08%. But 0.47% is not atypical for an actively-managed global fund. See the peer set below. CGDG’s closest performance benchmark is the MSCI All Country World Index . What's In The Capital Group Dividend Growers ETF? CGDG holds around 100 stocks, with the top ten accounting for about a quarter of assets. That said, the largest individual position is only around 4.5%, so it’s not overly concentrated. The fund prospectus does not tell us how positions are weighted once selected. The Tory leader says the public sector duty to consider minorities encourages division – but legal experts say abolishing it will fuel discrimination For more than two decades, an important part of Britain’s equality laws ensured public institutions had to think about the impact their decisions could have on different groups in society. Introduced after the Stephen Lawrence inquiry, the public sector equality duty required public bodies – such as local councils, police forces and hospitals – to think proactively about equality law. Now this once uncontroversial public duty is a new battleground in Britain’s culture wars. Continue reading...

Anthropic ( ANTHRO ) announced on Tuesday two new models, Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5. The Dario Amodei-led company said Claude Fable 5 is a Mythos-class model that is “safe for general users,” amid some concerns that its Mythos models are too dangerous to be used by the public. “ Fable 5’s capabilities exceed those of any model we’ve ever made generally available. It is state-of-the-art on nearly all tested benchmarks of AI capability, showing exceptional performance in software engineering, knowledge work, vision, scientific research, and many other areas,” Anthropic said. “The longer and more complex the task, the larger Fable 5’s lead over our other model.” Despite the fact Anthropic said Fable 5 is safe for general use, there are some safeguards attached to it, including the fact that some queries will get responses from Claude Opus 4.8, released last month. “To release the model both safely and quickly, we’ve tuned these safeguards conservatively—they’ll sometimes catch harmless requests, though they trigger, on average, in less than 5% of sessions,” Anthropic added. Claude Mythos 5 is essentially the same model as Fable 5, Anthropic said, but the safeguards were lifted in some areas, Anthropic explained. It will be deployed through Project Glasswing, Anthropic said . In addition to the new models, Anthropic said traffic for both models will be kept for 30 days, as part of the Trump administration's new executive order on AI models. The data will then be deleted in most cases. Fable 5 and Mythos 5 are being offered at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, Anthropic added. Fable 5 is available everywhere today, with Microsoft ( MSFT ) and Amazon ( AMZN ) already mentioning availability ; Mythos 5 is only available to Project Glasswing partners. Fable 5 will be included as part of Anthropic's Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans from now until June 22. Thereafter, it will be removed from those plans and require usage c...

According to tanker tracking data, oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz have slowed to a trickle since the war with Iran began. However, that trickle might be bigger than first thought. Some ships are paying tolls to Iran while others are quietly escaping the Strait at night with their transponders off. These additional flows are helping keep oil prices down. Here’s a look at what it means for oil stocks. Image source: Getty Images. Continue reading

In keeping with the first World Cup staged across three countries the expanded 48-team tournament will play out as a global media event, with YouTube and TikTok broadcasting live action for the first time and Netflix streaming a daily TV show, Gary Lineker’s The Rest is Football, with the previously homespun podcast relocating to Times Square for almost six weeks. The theatrical prequel to the Duffer Brothers’ smash-hit Netflix series is to shut down in the West End and on Broadway this winter, after selling more than 1.5m tickets The London and New York productions of Stranger Things: The First Shadow , the theatrical prequel to Netflix’s TV blockbuster, are to both close this winter. The stage spectacular will have run for just over three years in the West End, where it won two Olivier awards, and for just over 20 months on Broadway, where it won four Tony awards. The final performance at the Phoenix theatre in London will be on 27 December and the last show at the Marquis theatre in New York will be on 3 January. The announcement, made on Tuesday, comes as a surprise considering the TV series’ phenomenal continued success. The November launch of the fifth and final season broke viewing records for an English-language series on Netflix, with 59.6m views in the first five days, and even caused the streaming service to crash within minutes of the episodes first becoming available. In February, it was widely reported that the New York stage production was being filmed for future release, but Netflix has made no such official statement. Continue reading...

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is at the forefront of what could become an American industrial renaissance in rare-earth. That could be overstating it; there are only a handful of rare-earth miners in the U.S., and none have an operationally large-scale rare-earth mine like MP's Mountain Pass mine in California. And yet the push from the U.S. government to shore up its rare-earth supply chain requires such a high level of investment and production that nothing short of an industrial revitalization will make it materialize. Well, renaissance or not, MP has been part of a larger effort to reduce dependence on China and strengthen the U.S.'s supply chain. But do the policy tailwinds, which have abated slightly in 2026 (more on that below), still make MP Materials stock a compelling long-term buy? Continue reading

U.S. Fertilizer Prices Erase War Spike, But El Nino Keeps Food Inflation Risk Elevated The good news for US farmers is that urea fertilizer prices have returned to pre-US-Iran conflict levels after spiking from late February through mid-April. This is great news for farmers, though they are not out of the woods, as drought continues to plague some of the nation’s top agricultural belts. Prices for granular urea in New Orleans have slumped 36% since peaking at $710 per short ton in mid-April. Spot prices are currently $453, back to pre-conflict levels. Bloomberg Intelligence analysts noted that a combination of oversupply and weak demand is pressuring US urea spot prices, which have fallen below those seen in more import-dependent markets such as Brazil and Egypt. The reversal in nitrogen fertilizer prices benefits farmers while also reducing part of the windfall enjoyed by CF Industries and Nutrien. Shares of CF Industries and Nutrien are both down about 20%, closely tracking urea spot prices. Urea was among the crop nutrients most affected by the Gulf-area energy shock, with nearly half of global exports originating in the region. There have been concerns about a global food shortage that could emerge later in the year. Drought concerns still plague top agricultural belts in the US. Meanwhile, on the otherside of the world: UBS Warns El Nino May Intensify Food Inflation Across Asia One troubling development in food has been the surge in rice prices, with the regional Asian benchmark rising 20% in May, the largest monthly increase since 2008 . It is important to closely monitor global food prices. Tyler Durden Tue, 06/09/2026 - 14:00

The prospect of billions of dollars of oncoming demand for SpaceX stock from index-tracking funds risks creating a feedback loop that drives the shares of Elon Musk ’s company even higher, academics and market observers have warned. Nasdaq Inc., FTSE Russell and MSCI Inc. are all set to fast-track the company into their gauges, after the first two index providers changed rules to allow its early addition. About 30% of SpaceX’s free float is now set to be owned by passive investors after just 15 days of trading, according to Intropic, a provider of index-rebalancing forecasts. That figure would be roughly 4% under previous slower-inclusion rules. Anticipation of that mechanical demand alone is set to put upward pressure on SpaceX stock, even before the race between funds to secure shares. Combined with the frenzies already surrounding Musk, SpaceX and artificial intelligence, the risk is that index products themselves help drive up the price they end up having to pay. It makes the rocket maker’s public debut not only the largest in history, but also a significant test of passive investing’s influence on the market. “One reason every index provider is trying to add SpaceX to their index so fast is because of the implicit competition between benchmarks,” said Marco Sammon, an assistant professor at Harvard Business School, who has studied the impact of passive investing. “This seems like a case where index methodology, rather than fundamentals, could have a huge effect on prices.” ‘Shadow Tax’ With passive vehicles now accounting for about 60% of US equity funds and controlling about a fifth of the S&P 500’s value, according to Bloomberg Intelligence estimates , concerns have long been growing that indexing has the potential to warp trading and prices. Sammon at Harvard has previously shown that widespread anticipation of index additions has actually helped contain any upward pressure they exert on price, thanks to specialized traders at hedge funds and market makers a...
