Anzz Media/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Susquehanna started off coverage on Viking Holdings Ltd. ( VIK ) on Wednesday with a positive rating. The stock was called a pure-play luxury cruise line pick that features a defensive and growing addressable market, industry-leading ROIC, and a path toward a net cash position. Analyst Christopher Stathoulopoulos and his team see the cruise line stock sitting in a select group of resilient travel names amid the ongoing macro and geopolitical uncertainty. The firm has a preference for premium-oriented cruise lines and those with strong brand loyalty, product depth, and solid balance sheets. Stathoulopoulos also highlighted that Viking Holdings ( VIK ) has a management team with a proven operational track record. Viking's ( VIK ) access to more than 100 priority docking stations across Europe, and its order book is seen supporting long-term growth within the European river and luxury ocean markets. Susquehanna assigned a price target of $100 to Viking ( VIK ) to represent more than 20% upside potential. The all-time high for the cruise line stock is $87.00. Donald Trump’s conflict with Iran could speed the EU’s green revolution – if panicking governments can hold their nerve on clean energy • Don’t get This Is Europe delivered to your inbox? Sign up here A surge in demand for electric vehicles across Europe may be evidence of what George Monbiot greeted as the silver lining of the Iran war. Sales of electric cars in continental Europe rose by 51% in March. The International Energy Agency has called the disruption in the strait of Hormuz the “biggest energy crisis in history”, but it appears, on one level, to be accelerating Europe’s green revolution. Yet, even if car-owners are rushing to the EV showrooms, some European governments, facing a groundswell of anger over soaring petrol and gas prices , are at risk of sending the clean energy transition into reverse. VV Shots/iStock Editorial via Getty Images The UK is doubling down on digital finance—and this time, it’s going all-in on payments. The UK Treasury revealed a new regulatory plan on Tuesday, April 21, to bring traditional payments, stablecoins, and tokenized deposits under one single regulatory framework, according to GOV.UK. Under the plan, stablecoins used for payments—like Tether (USDT), USD Coin ( USDC ), PayPal USD (PYUSD), Ripple USD (RLUSD), USDD ( USDD-USD ), and World Liberty Financial USD (USD1) —will fall under a new issuance regime, while firms offering these services may see reduced compliance burdens. At the same time, the FCA will gain more power to oversee open banking and explore regulations for emerging AI-driven payment systems. To drive execution, Chris Woolard, an EY partner, has been appointed as the UK’s Wholesale Digital Markets Champion, leading the development of tokenized financial systems. The Treasury will also invest £1M ($1.35M) in funding to the Centre for Finance, Innovation, and Technology starting in April. City Minister Lucy Rigby framed fintech as a “true British success story,” highlighting the UK’s ambition to stay globally competitive. However, Anthony Yeung (CoinCover) told The Block that real adoption will depend on strong infrastructure like custody and security systems—not just regulation. Overall, while the focus is on payment-focused stablecoins , the broader crypto market, including assets like Bitcoin ( BTC-USD ), Ethereum ( ETH-USD ), XRP ( XRP-USD ), and Solana ( SOL-USD ), stands to benefit from clearer regulations and growing institutional trust.
