Pfizer ( PFE ) reported detailed results from several mid-stage trials, noting that its obesity therapy could become the first GLP-1 approved for monthly dosing. The therapy known as berobenatide (PF’3944) was added from its Metsera acquisition last year. The data was presented from its Phase 2b VESPER-1, 2, and 3 trials presented at the American Diabetes Association annual meeting. Wegovy from Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) and Zepbound from Eli Lilly ( LLY ), are available as once-weekly injectables for weight management. Pfizer intends to run as many as 10 Phase 3 trials for berobenatide this year, targeting long-term management and obesity-related conditions. Its VESPER-6 pivotal Phase 3 study, designed to test berobenatide for monthly maintenance dosing in obese or overweight adults, is currently enrolling patients. McDonald's ( MCD ) is experimenting with a new AI-based automated order-taking system called ArchIQ at the drive-thru of five locations across the U.S. Restaurant Business Magazine reported that the initiative, powered by Google ( GOOG ) ( GOOGL ), is part of McDonald's ( MCD ) new brand strategy called “McDonald’s > NEXT.” It was unveiled at the company’s biennial Worldwide Convention in Las Vegas last week. The move comes two years after the fast-food chain abandoned a similar AI ordering system. A McDonald’s ( MCD ) franchisee identified as McFranchisee said on X that they’ve processed over 1M transactions in those 5 test stores with about 90% of orders completed without human escalations.
