Meta employees' activity at work is now being used to train the company's AI agents. As reported by Reuters , Meta is installing a tool it calls Model Capability Initiative (MCI) on US-based employees' computers that runs in work-related apps and websites, recording mouse movements, clicks, keystrokes, and occasional screenshots. The data from this tool will be used to train the company's AI models to get better at interacting with computers the way humans do, including automating work tasks like those Meta's employees perform on the job. According to Reuters , the data from MCI won't be "used for performance assessments." "If we're buildin … Read the full story at The Verge.

An index tracking semiconductor stocks is on track for its all-time longest streak of daily gains, as investors anticipate strong growth for the sector driven by demand related to artificial intelligence. The Philadelphia Stock Exchange Semiconductor Index rose as much as 1.9% on Wednesday. If it closes higher, that would mark its 16th straight positive session — its longest such streak on record — based on data that goes back to 1994. Over the course of the rally, the index has climbed 37%, putting April on track for the biggest one-month percentage gain since February 2000. The rally is just the latest example of chips leading the broader market. The introduction of ChatGPT, which ignited the modern AI era, spurred the years-long trend. Major companies are spending aggressively on AI-related infrastructure, fueling growth for chips in particular. “There’s a huge amount of demand because of artificial intelligence, and I think we can expect the heavy spending on AI to continue for the foreseeable future,” said Mark Grant , chief global strategist at Alliance Global Partners. “I think the sector still looks attractive in terms of both valuation and growth, and that should be positive for both semiconductor stocks broadly, but also the market overall.” The semiconductor sector is expected to grow revenue by about 57% in 2026, according to Bloomberg Intelligence data , which is twice the pace of the overall tech sector, and well above the 9.3% growth expected for the S&P 500 Index. Nvidia Corp. in particular has emerged as not only the poster child for both the sector and AI, but arguably the economy overall. The chip-maker has soared more than 1,200% over the past five years, becoming the world’s largest company in the process, with a market capitalization near $5 trillion. Other major winners of the AI era include Broadcom Inc. , up nearly 800% over the past five years; Micron Technology Inc. , up more than 400%; and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. , which has gained ab...

peshkov/iStock via Getty Images It is “very hard to not be bullish right now” across U.S. stocks, crypto, and artificial intelligence, according to Anthony Pompliano, chairman and CEO of ProCap Financial. In an interview with CNBC, Pompliano dismissed concerns about inflation and geopolitical tensions, arguing that data points to an American economy experiencing a “manufacturing renaissance” and economic boom that should benefit stocks ( SP500 ), ( COMP:IND ), ( DJI ), crypto ( BTC-USD ), ( ETH-USD ), and related assets over the next 12 months. He spoke about the launch of an AI-first financial research product on prediction markets in partnership with Kalshi ( KALSHI ). Pompliano explained that his firm’s AI system has uncovered a rare historical market pattern that suggests significant gains ahead. The AI system, according to Pompliano, excels at sifting through “mountains and mountains of data” to find undiscovered insights. He pointed to one striking finding: the stock market has posted three consecutive weeks of gains of 3% or more, something that has only happened three times in the past 76 years. Following those previous instances, the market returned an average of 33% over the subsequent 12 months. On Bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) specifically, Pompliano made the case that the cryptocurrency has established itself as the “king of safe haven assets.” He cited research showing that in every financial crisis since 2020—including the banking crisis, COVID, tariffs, and geopolitical conflicts—Bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) outperformed stocks, gold, cash, and treasuries within 60 days of each crisis beginning. “I think that the market is saying that something like Bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) is an asset that they want to hold during times of uncertainty,” he said. Acknowledging Bitcoin’s ( BTC-USD ) volatility, Pompliano expressed confidence that the cryptocurrency likely bottomed at $60,000 and will reach new all-time highs within the next two to three years. He revealed that both he person...

Blackstone Private Credit Fund is selling investment-grade notes, as private lenders known as business development companies ramp up debt issuance after a dry spell. Initial price talk on the five-year notes is a spread of about 2.55 percentage points above the benchmark, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter. The deal adds to a string of similar deals at a time when worries about AI-disrupted software bets and looser lending standards have roiled the once red-hot private credit fund industry. On April 13, Blue Owl Capital Corp. sold $400 million of notes in what was the first business development high-grade bond deal since February — the offering was purchased entirely by Pacific Investment Management Co . A day later, a Goldman Sachs Group Inc. private credit fund raised $750 million. Read more: As Blue Owl’s Strains Worsened, Its Bankers Pitched a Long Shot Blackstone Private Credit Fund last tapped the market in January, when it raised $700 million. Deutsche Bank AG , Morgan Stanley , Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc, Royal Bank of Canada and Wells Fargo Securities are the bookrunners on the new deal, which is expected to price Wednesday. adventtr/iStock via Getty Images By Rafael Silva In September of last year, following the release of the World Robotics Report by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), a panel discussed the feasibility of humanoids entering homes in the not-too-distant future. The consensus at the time was that the current generation of humanoid robots was neither safe, dexterous, nor cheap enough to be useful within a household. During that discussion, a concept emerged that is now playing out across the industry in real time. An ultimate, all-purpose humanoid that can seamlessly transition from welding car frames to folding laundry would no doubt be revolutionary. But something more logical is becoming apparent as we move deeper into the current robotics supercycle. There will likely be different humanoids for different tasks. After all, we’re leaving behind the days when developing a single robot would take enormous resources. Why should one robot be able to do everything? The recent contrast between Boston Dynamics’ Atlas and Fauna Robotics’ (recently acquired by Amazon) Sprout hints at what the future may look like. In that future, humanoids won’t be defined by a single form factor. Instead, they will be defined by specialized platforms built for specific tasks. After all, no one expects their washing machine to also mow the lawn. The Purpose-Built Factory Worker: Atlas On the industrial side, we have Boston Dynamics' Atlas. Speaking after its launch , the design and engineering team were keen to explain that the latest Atlas is “a departure from the typical humanoid look, favoring industrial utility over human likeness.” With custom actuators two to three times stronger than off-the-shelf options, passive heat distribution to eliminate failure-prone fans in the limbs, and a 110-pound instant payload capacity, Atlas is built strictly for the factory floor. It looks like a machine because it has to act and work like one. Atlas Prioritizes Industrial Utility Over Human ...

Roblox Settles With 3 States Over Endangering Children, Will Pay $36 Million Authored by Naveen Athrappully via The Epoch Times, Online interactive gaming platform Roblox has agreed to settle with West Virginia, Alabama, and Nevada for a combined $35.78 million, committing to strengthen children’s safety through measures such as mandatory age verification and chat restrictions. Roblox reached an $11.08 million settlement with West Virginia. In an April 21 statement, the office of West Virginia Attorney General John B. McCuskey said that Roblox has agreed to “major child safety overhaul.” The settlement came after an investigation conducted by the office found that the platform exposed child users to sexual predators, sexual and violent content, and grooming risks. McCuskey said there were “serious failures that left children exposed to real danger.” Under the agreement, Roblox will verify the ages of all users before allowing chat access. This is expected to limit instances of adults contacting minors and reduce the risk of grooming. The company will block all chat until users verify their age, seeking to reduce the use of anonymous accounts by predators to target children. Once age verification is complete, adults can contact under-16 users only through verified trusted friends, according to the statement. The accounts of all under-16 users will, by default, run on safe content mode, which will reportedly block out adult-rated material. Roblox has also committed to recruiting an internet safety specialist in West Virginia. The settlement funds will be paid over several years. “I have two young daughters who love Roblox, so I know how popular it is,” McCuskey said. “I am thankful that Roblox took our concerns seriously and worked with us to make these major safety changes.” Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announced in an April 21 statement that the state has reached a $12.2 million settlement with Roblox. Under the deal, Roblox has agreed to verify the age o...
