The Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator is preparing for the NFL draft later this week. On a recent trip home to London, he reflected on his extraordinary journey A middle-aged man pulls down his baseball cap, walks across Leicester Square and heads to Greggs for lunch before taking the Piccadilly Line home to Southgate. It’s only two months since he won the Super Bowl but none of the thousands of tourists milling around central London recognise him. Aden Durde should be a British celebrity. Olympians often say there is a massive comedown after they win gold medals. Some think: ‘Now what?’ How have you felt after winning the Super Bowl? “I wouldn’t say it’s a comedown, but there were moments after you win it, like at the parade, I felt numb. The little letdown is, while you might get another chance to create it, you’re not going to do it again with that group of people. You realise that this special thing that we had is over. I thought that on the bus going back to the hotel from the game.” Continue reading...

mustafaU/iStock via Getty Images By Mike Larson I had a great conversation with two of my favorite technicians this week - and they highlighted the incredible strength we’re seeing in a key sector. That got me thinking: Can the market really crack with it performing so well? Take a look at the MoneyShow Chart of the Day, which shows the Dow Jones Transportation Average. Yes, it’s an old-school index. Yes, it’s just 20 stocks. But does this chart look like something you see when the economy is falling apart and a bear market is looming? Transports are on Fire... Despite Higher Energy Prices (Source: TradingView) What’s even more remarkable is that we’re seeing so much strength at a time of surging oil and gas prices. The average includes railroads, airlines, and truckers like CSX Corp. ( CSX ), American Airlines Group Inc. ( AAL ), and JB Hunt Transport Services Inc. ( JBHT ). It also includes the car rental company Avis Budget Group Inc. ( CAR ) and the rideshare giant Uber Technologies Inc. ( UBER ). Many of those industries are very sensitive to higher fuel costs. Things are so dire at struggling discount carrier Spirit Airlines (not in the average) that it’s seeking a federal government bailout . But as J.C. Parets and Steve Strazza highlighted in my MoneyShow Virtual Expo session with them Tuesday, just look at the chart! It speaks volumes. The Index is up 37% year-to-date - and 79% in the past 12 months. So, sure, it’s natural to worry about war-related headlines. But if you’re a trader, you have to trade what’s actually happening in markets - not what you think “should” be happening. And right now, the strength in transports makes it awfully hard to be too bearish! Editor's Note: The summary bullets for this article were chosen by Seeking Alpha editors. (02:58) This is an abridged transcript. OpenAI and ChatGPT are under investigation in a criminal case in the state of Florida. Just over a year ago on April 17, 2025 a gunman killed two people and injured six others on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee. Florida’s Attorney General, James Uthmeier says that ChatGPT offered “significant advice” to the shooter. “The communication between the shooter and ChapGPT revealed that the chatbot advised the shooter on what type of gun to use, on which ammo went with which gun, on whether or not a gun would be useful in short-range. ChapGPT advised the shooter on what time of day would be appropriate for the shooting to interact with more people and where on campus would be the place to encounter a higher population.” The accused shooter, Phoenix Ikner faces several charges including two counts of first-degree murder. We’re taking a deeper dive into this story in the Wall Street Breakfast newsletter. Here’s a link to signup . The UK's House of Commons and the House of Lords agreed on the final text of the highly watched Tobacco and Vapes Bill. The legislation creates what the government calls a “smokefree generation” by making it permanently illegal to sell tobacco products to anyone born on or after January 1, 2009. That cutoff means anyone currently 17 or younger will never legally be able to purchase cigarettes, cigars, herbal smoking products, or cigarette papers in the UK. The legal age of sale will then rise by one year each year starting in 2027, so the restriction expands permanently forward in time. Government ministers will gain new powers under the legislation to regulate t...

Erik Isakson/DigitalVision via Getty Images Vertiv Holdings ( VRT ) fell 4% in premarket trading Wednesday after quarterly results showed weakness in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The seller of power, cooling and other critical infrastructure for data centers reported first-quarter net sales of $2.65 billion, matching Wall Street’s consensus estimate. Adjusted earnings came in above forecasts at $1.17 a share on the company’s stated basis, topping the $1.01 consensus estimate cited by analysts. Net income rose to $390.1 million, or $0.99 a share, from $164.5 million, or $0.42 a share. Before Wednesday, the stock had surged 363% over the prior 12 months as investors piled into companies tied to the booming AI data center buildout. Weakness in EMEA Europe, Middle East and Africa revenue fell 20.3% in the quarter, with organic sales down 29.4%, a sharp contrast to blistering growth in the Americas. That regional weakness highlighted uneven global demand trends and possible project timing shifts. CEO says demand remains strong “We're seeing data center infrastructure requirements evolve significantly,” Chief Executive Giordano Albertazzi said in the earnings release. He said investments in technology and capacity are helping Vertiv ( VRT ) gain share as customers demand faster deployment and greater reliability. Guidance raised above Street Vertiv ( VRT ) forecast full-year 2026 net sales of $13.5 billion to $14.0 billion, compared with analyst consensus of $13.7 billion. The company said organic sales should grow 29% to 31% from 2025 levels. Vertiv ( VRT ) expects full-year adjusted earnings of $6.30 to $6.40 a share, above the $6.16 Wall Street consensus estimate. At the midpoint, that would represent roughly 51% growth from 2025. Cash flow and balance sheet Vertiv ( VRT ) generated $767 million in operating cash flow during the quarter and $653 million in adjusted free cash flow. The company ended the quarter with net leverage of roughly 0.2 times, giving it flexib...

Airbnb is overhauling its stagnated hospitality and rental businesses, priming its shares for a big bounce, according to Wells Fargo. The bank upgraded the short-term rental name to overweight from equal weight. It also raised its price target on shares to $178 from $136, implying 24.8% upside from Tuesday's close. "Accelerating pace of innovation makes upside options a reality," analyst Ken Gawrelski said Wednesday in a note to clients. "ABNB at a significant business inflection, in our view, emerging from 2 years of decelerating growth and compressing margins to accelerating growth and expanding margins '26 -'28." In early 2025, Airbnb CEO laid out his plan to make his firm into "one place to go for all your traveling and living needs." Since then, Airbnb has aimed to add more hotel listings to its platform, in addition to integrating ride and excursion-booking services to turnaround its lagging stock, according to Wells Fargo. In addition, the firm has embraced artificial intelligence to transform its customer service and power property recommendations from its search engine. ABNB 1Y mountain ABNB 1yr Gawrelski expects all of those efforts to ramp up even more in the coming months, which should boost shares of Airbnb. "Expect more aggressive hotel supply acquisition and merchandising, sponsored listings, a loyalty program and improved conversion w/ AI search all driving estimates meaningfully above consensus," Gawrelski wrote. The analyst added that Airbnb could also lean into building out a loyalty program for its customers to bolster its business. "Beyond those explicitly modeled drivers, we see material opportunity for…a loyalty program to drive cross-sell behavior and sustain bookings growth." Wells Fargo's call goes against consensus on Wall Street. Of the 43 analysts covering Airbnb, 21 have a hold rating on the stock, LSEG data shows. Shares have risen 5% in the year to date.
