Earnings Call Insights: Insteel Industries (IIIN) Q2 2026 Management View "Despite falling well short of our expected financial performance in Q2, we believe the upturn in business activity we reported previously is still intact." (President, CEO & Chairman H.O. Waltz) "We regret that we experienced both of these phenomena during Q2, but we're confident that short-term weather conditions and project delays neither create nor destroy demand and that postponed demand will be evident during the balance of fiscal 2026." (President, CEO & Chairman Waltz) "Our second quarter results were weaker than expected, reflecting the combined impact of winter weather disruptions, lower spreads and higher unit conversion costs." (VP, CFO & Treasurer Scot Jafroodi) "As we enter the third quarter, we expect several factors to support a recovery in gross margin." (VP, CFO & Treasurer Jafroodi) "While we continue to believe that demand will be solid during 2026, we will reduce costs if this forecast fails to materialize." (President, CEO & Chairman Waltz) Outlook "Although we are still early in the third quarter, recent order activity has been solid, with April shipments trending above forecasted loans." (VP, CFO & Treasurer Jafroodi) "We expect these recent pricing actions, along with the additional price increase implemented in April to provide further benefit in the coming periods as they are more fully reflected in our realized pricing." (VP, CFO & Treasurer Jafroodi) "At this point, however, we do not expect to be in a cost reduction mode driven by demand-related concerns." (President, CEO & Chairman Waltz) "As we closed out the second quarter, we remain encouraged by the demand trends we're seeing across our core end markets... At the same time, we recognize that these external factors could influence the pace of the activity in the near term." (VP, CFO & Treasurer Jafroodi) Financial Results "Net earnings for the quarter were $5.2 million or $0.27 per share compared with $10.2 mi...

Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR) just delivered one of its most important updates yet -- and on the surface, it looks like a major win. In its latest earnings release, the company announced that it has achieved 100% Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) acceptance of its "Means of Compliance" for the Midnightaircraft. That might sound technical, but it's essentially a critical milestone toward full certification, the gatekeeper for launching commercial flying taxi services. For a company built on the promise of electric air taxis, this milestone matters. It signals that Archer is closely aligning with regulators on the approval of those aircraft. But investors shouldn't stop there. Because while this milestone strengthens the story, it also sharpens the real question: Can Archer execute from here? Continue reading

Welcome to Bloomberg’s Texas Edition — covering all the industries and people driving America’s second-largest economy, from finance and oil to tech and sports. Join us each week for an inside look at Texas through a Bloomberg lens. Sign up here if you’re not already on the list. Texas Pacific Land is a quiet company when it comes to generating headlines. So that’s why this event was remarkable: The stock plunged 16% the other day — the most in the S&P 500. The shock move followed the death of Murray Stahl , the CEO of Texas Pacific’s largest shareholder, Horizon Kinetics — and the man credited with a long-in-the-making revival for the Dallas-based company. Texas Pacific traces its roots to the 19th-century boom in railroad construction, when it was founded to repay bondholders in the now-long-defunct Texas & Pacific Railway Co. Its assets: Vast tracts of West Texas land. Permian Basin oil-and-gas drillers eventually flocked there, as did bitcoin miners and renewable energy projects. And while Stahl clashed with Texas Pacific over governance in recent years, CEO Ty Glover praised him for believing in the stock when others didn’t. Stahl’s vision proved incredibly lucrative for long-term holders. Texas Pacific is up more than 65,000% in the past 30 years. At $29 billion, Texas Pacific’s market value is almost four times as large as American Airlines’ (and more on that below). The Fine Line The NHL playoffs begin this weekend , and the Dallas Stars head to the postseason for the fifth year in a row. No Stanley Cup, but the team has reached the past three Western Conference finals. So let’s talk private equity. “Sports are a real spice for people to look to invest,” CEO Brad Alberts said in an interview in the Dallas bureau. Interest from PE firms and the rising popularity of live sports are poised to extend an advance in National Hockey League team valuations after years of strong gains, according to Alberts, who became CEO in 2020 during his second stint with the Star...

nndanko/iStock via Getty Images Exelixis ( EXEL ) is not a new ticker to me; in fact, it has been in the Compounding Healthcare “Bioreactor” Growth Portfolio for years. Yet, I’ve never formally covered the company with a Seeking Alpha premium article. This wasn’t due to a lack of conviction in the company's performance or outlook. It was primarily a result of the company being so steady with CABOMETYX that the ticker didn’t always need constant analysis. However, I believe the status quo is evolving after reading a recent conference transcript that suggests Zanzalintinib could have blockbuster potential and become a second backbone TKI for Exelixis. Admittedly, I was initially concerned that zanzalintinib would essentially replace CABOMETYX and end up cannibalizing its revenue. However, a deeper analysis showed that although CABOMETYX and zanzalintinib are similar oncology drugs, it is possible that they can coexist because they can be deployed in different lines and therapy combinations. It looks as if it is possible that CABOMETYX could remain the durable cash generator, while zanzalintinib can be the next big growth driver for the 2030s. As a result, I’m looking to add EXEL to my high-priority watch list as we start to head towards the second half of 2026. I intend to provide a brief background on Exelixis and review their recent performance. Then, I will discuss why I believe CABOMETYX and Zanzalintinib can cohabit with different roles in the company’s portfolio. In addition, I will point out some downside risks that investors should consider when managing their EXEL position. Finally, I take a look at the Daily Chart to see if I can identify any opportunities for investors. Background on Exelixis Exelixis is an oncology company that has become a leader in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), while potentially expanding their expertise in neuroendocrine tumor (NET), and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) thanks to their flagship TKI, CABOMETYX. As the only approved product, ...

Manager’s grounded attitude has helped the free-scoring German giants set up a tantalising Champions League showdown and de facto final If you thought that was good, wait until you have done it at Ewood Park. While everyone else struggled to compose themselves after watching a modern classic unfold between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, it was Vincent Kompany who supplied the cooling balm. He had just taken Bayern back to the Champions League semi-finals in scintillating fashion, another feat to justify the decision to take him from Burnley two years ago. Not many managers have breathed such rarefied air within days of turning 40. For Kompany, though, it sat snugly alongside the snappy Lancashire climate. “I remember we beat Blackburn twice with Burnley,” he said, having been asked whether Wednesday night marked a crowning achievement in his coaching career. “Nobody in this room will want to compare it with the game today, but it was amazing. I experienced so much as a player and that was incredible. For Bayern this game is an amazing feeling, but I don’t think you wait for Real Madrid to say ‘This is the best’. You have to get it from other things as well.” Continue reading...
