US President Donald Trump said Friday he wants his incoming acting spy chief to start firing employees, deepening the controversy over the appointment of a man with no previous intelligence experience. Alexey Koza/iStock via Getty Images Praxis Precision Medicines, Inc. ( PRAX ) is a bit of a "unicorn" in the clinical-stage biotechnology space. It is simultaneously preparing to launch two different drugs in two different indications, which hasn’t happened a lot in my 10 years of experience in covering this sector. Praxis’ most prized asset is ulixacaltamide. The company is seeking approval in essential tremor, or ET. Peak sales estimates vary greatly. Some (management included) will put it near $10 billion, and others closer to $1 billion. In my last analysis , I sided with caution because ulixacaltamide would undoubtedly face competition from dirt-cheap off label generics, and real-world persistence could materially alter peak sale assumptions. And, critically, Praxis sported a market cap north of $7.5 billion at this time, which appeared to already bake in blockbuster expectations for ulixacaltamide. Outside of ET, Praxis was also exploring epilepsies. But, as I noted, relutrigine’s potential in SCN2A- and SCN8A- Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathies, or DEEs, was limited due to a very low target population. Meanwhile, vormatrigine faces an uphill battle in more common epileptic conditions, like focal onset seizures and generalized epilepsy. Both of which already feature over a dozen entrenched antiepileptics. So, in my mind, Praxis was an “ulixacaltamide in ET” story, with some upside optionality in epilepsy. I ended with a “Hold” going into 2026 due to a frothy valuation, and its stock has since returned -11% vs. S&P 500 ( SPY ) gains of 9%. The company has since submitted NDAs for both ulixacaltamide and relutrigine, raised over $600 million via a public offering, and reported Phase 2/3 POWER1 trial data (vormatrigine). Below, I take a closer look at recent developments, as well as value Praxis’ pipeline. I end up siding with caution again despite the company’s regulatory progress. Recent Developments After raising over $600 million in a public offerin...

Just over a year ago, the Trump Administration issued an executive order meant to accelerate the development of nuclear power in the US. While an entire startup ecosystem has developed around the use of different—and typically smaller—reactor designs, only one of them has been fully licensed so far, and there are no plans to actually build any instances of that design. The executive order directed the Department of Energy to have three different reactor designs reach criticality in a bit over a year. On Thursday, a startup called Antares announced that a test reactor it had placed at the Idaho National Laboratory had reached criticality, making it the first new design to cross this threshold. Criticality means that the nuclear reactions inside the hardware had become self sustaining; it does not mean the reactor had started to generate power. Antares is one of a number of companies that is basing its design on a new fuel system called TRISO that takes some of the complexity and safety out of the reactor design and places them in the fuel design. The fuel design is based on tiny pellets with a uranium oxide core. The pellets are surrounded by several layers of carbon that can moderate the energy of both the neutrons and lighter nuclei that are released by fission reactions. All of that is encased in a hard ceramic shell that's designed to withstand the highest temperatures that can be produced by the encased uranium. Read full article Comments

dan_prat/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images Suncor Energy ( SU ) down 4.8% in Friday's trading as Goldman Sachs downgrades the Canadian oil and gas producer to Neutral from Buy with a $72 price target, citing multi-year outperformance that has seen the stock more than double since January 2023 compared to the XLE ETF's 34% gain. Suncor's ( SU ) strength has been driven by a successful operational turnaround under CEO Rich Kruger, whose leadership has helped improve efficiency and execution across the business, Goldman analyst Neil Mehta says. Even with less relative upside, Mehta maintains a positive outlook on Suncor ( SU ), highlighting strong upstream segment operational execution, particularly at the Firebag and Fort Hills assets, and attractive downstream earnings contributions. The analyst also notes a resilient balance sheet, with net debt below C$8B, that supports robust capital returns, underpinned by the company's commitment to return 100% of excess funds. Looking ahead, Mehta expects Suncor ( SU ) to capture higher margins by shifting its production mix from ~70% mining to ~60% in-situ, as in-situ operations currently generate twice the cash flow per barrel relative to traditional mining. While the strategic decision provides a path to higher profitability, the analyst believes long-term gains are already well-reflected in the current stock price, resulting in a risk/reward profile that appears increasingly balanced at current levels. For investors seeking a strong Canadian presence with upstream exposure, Goldman suggests four Buy-rated names: Cenovus Energy ( CVE ), Ovintiv ( OVV ), ConocoPhillips ( COP ), and Canadian Natural Resources ( CNQ ). Saul Loeb | Afp | Getty Images Days before a planned IPO that's expected to bring in record sums of cash, SpaceX has inked a deal with Google that will bring in $920 million a month by providing AI compute capacity to the search giant. According to a filing on Friday, Google will use about 110,000 Nvidia graphics processing units, as well as central processors, memory and other components housed in SpaceX's data center. The agreement spans from October of this year through June 2029 at the $920 million rate, and with "capacity ramping up through September at a reduced fee." SpaceX said in the filing that if it fails to "deliver access to the committed amount of GPUs by September 30, 2026," Google can immediately end the agreement, or accept the number of GPUs provided at a reduced fee after a one-month grace period. After this year, the agreement can be terminated by either party provided they give 90 days' notice. It's the second massive infrastructure deal announced by SpaceX following its merger in February with xAI, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company, in a transaction that valued the combined entity at $1.25 trillion. Last month, Anthropic announced a deal to use all of SpaceX's compute capacity at its Colossus 1 data center in Memphis, Tennessee. Alphabet has made a windfall from backing SpaceX. Musk's company was worth $12 billion at the time of Google's 2015 investment, and is aiming to go public next week at a valuation of over $1.75 trillion.
