US May Subsidize Oil Giants To Rebuild Venezuela’s Energy Sector, Trump Says President Donald Trump said the US may subsidize American oil companies to help rebuild Venezuela’s energy sector, arguing the plan would strengthen Venezuela’s recovery and protect US economic interests after the removal of Nicolás Maduro, according to Bloomberg . In an interview with NBC News on Monday, Trump said US firms could have expanded operations in the country “up and running” in less than 18 months — a timeline that sharply conflicts with expert estimates that reconstruction could take a decade and cost more than $100 billion. “I think we can do it in less time than that, but it’ll be a lot of money,” Trump said. “A tremendous amount of money will have to be spent and the oil companies will spend it, and then they’ll get reimbursed by us or through revenue.” Trump declined to say whether he has spoken with executives from Exxon Mobil, Chevron or ConocoPhillips, adding only: “I speak to everybody.” US Energy Secretary Chris Wright is expected to meet oil executives this week at the Goldman Sachs Energy, Clean Tech & Utilities Conference in Miami, where senior leaders from major firms will be in attendance. Venezuela’s oil system has been crippled by corruption, fires, theft and years of underinvestment. Chevron remains the only oil supermajor still operating in the country, and most companies have been hesitant to commit to large-scale reinvestment. Bloomberg writes that Trump said greater Venezuelan output would help ease global oil prices. “Having a Venezuela that’s an oil producer is good for the United States because it keeps the price of oil down,” he said. The comments come amid criticism of Trump’s military operation that led to Maduro’s capture. Supporters say the move disrupted drug trafficking and reclaimed oil assets, while opponents argue the US risks violating international law and lacks approval for a long-term nation-building effort. House Speaker Mike Johnson said ...

Recent headlines have focused on AMD's role in high performance computing and artificial intelligence chips, as investors watch how its product roadmap competes with other large semiconductor players. These developments help frame how the market is thinking about AMD's future opportunities and the risks that could come with a fast changing chip sector. On our checks, AMD scores a . This suggests that some measures point to the shares looking inexpensive while others do not. Next we will look at what different valuation methods say about that price tag and then finish with a simple way to keep all of these signals in context. Advertisement Approach 1: Advanced Micro Devices Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) Analysis A Discounted Cash Flow, or DCF, model estimates what a company could be worth by projecting its future cash flows and then discounting those back to today’s value. It is essentially asking what the stream of future cash AMD might generate is worth in today’s dollars. For Advanced Micro Devices, the model uses a 2 Stage Free Cash Flow to Equity approach, starting from last twelve month free cash flow of about $5.57b. Analyst forecasts and subsequent extrapolations see free cash flow reaching $36.94b in 2030, with a detailed set of projections each year between 2026 and 2035 that are discounted back using Simply Wall St’s assumptions. When those projected cash flows are added up and adjusted, the DCF model arrives at an estimated intrinsic value of about $324.80 per share. Compared with the recent share price of $21...

The AI race heats up Delivering the keynote speech for CES 2026 on Monday, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang took the opportunity to introduce new AI offerings from his company. One of the main occupants of the assisted/autonomous driving domain is, of course, Tesla. The company has leaned heavily into the technology, most recently with the release of its Full-Self-Driving (FSD) v14 software near the end of last year. Despite its name, FSD is an assisted driving system and not an autonomous one. Alpamayo and other AI solutions Nvidia is rolling out are open-source, so their development should be relatively quick. Rangers have made a "statement" by moving to within three points of Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts - but head coach Danny Rohl says moving above Celtic into second place is "still not what we want". The Ibrox side eased past Aberdeen 2-0 at Ibrox to record their 10th win in 13 league games since Rohl took charge in October. Rangers were 13 points adrift of the surprise league leaders at that time and sat sixth in the division, having won just once in eight games. Since then, though, only Hearts have beaten them in the Premiership, with the Glasgow side's under-the-radar run propelling them into title contention with almost half of the campaign to unfold. And while Rohl was wary of making grand statements about what his side may or may not do over the next 17 games - starting with a rematch with Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday - he refused to rule out just a second title in 15 years. "I'm very proud of the group at the moment," the former Sheffield Wednesday boss told BBC Sport Scotland. "We close the gap to just three points from 13 when I arrived. It's a statement but still not what we want. We're on a journey. It's about the next game on Sunday. "When I took over two years ago at Sheffield Wednesday, we were 12, 13 points under the line. In the end we survived. In football everything is possible. "It's about small steps, belief, bringing confidence back and trusting the players. At the moment we're in a good way but have a lot of things to do."

Duke of York’s Theatre, London Sheridan Smith’s disconsolate housewife seeks refuge in a fantasy world, in critique of the emptiness of married life Susan is not the first woman battling inner demons in her middle years that Sheridan Smith has taken on for the West End stage. Before Alan Ayckbourn’s disconsolate housewife here, there was her superlative Shirley Valentine, navigating middle-age wobbles by setting sail for the island of her dreams, and John Cassavetes’ Myrtle, in Opening Night, more brittle and inebriated in her mid-life malaise. Susan is, like Shirley and Myrtle, in a mentally fragile state. That is partly because she has taken a knock to the head with a garden rake, which has triggered an alternate, hallucinatory world. This, at first, seems like a refuge from the emotionally deadened real life she shares with vicar-husband, Gerald (Tim McMullan), dour sister-in-law, Muriel (Louise Brealey), and rebel son, Rick (Taylor Uttley) who has refused to speak to his parents since joining a sect in Hemel Hempstead. Donald Trump and his advisers are looking into “a range of options” in an effort to acquire Greenland, noting in a White House statement on Tuesday that using the US military to do so is “always an option”. “President Trump has made it well known that acquiring Greenland is a national security priority of the United States, and it’s vital to deter our adversaries in the Arctic region. The president and his team are discussing a range of options to pursue this important foreign policy goal, and of course, utilizing the US military is always an option at the commander-in-chief’s disposal,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. Leavitt’s comments came as the leaders of major European powers pushed back against Trump’s long-running desire to seize the Arctic territory. In a show of solidarity on Tuesday, the leaders of France, Germany, Britain and other nations issued a joint statement with the prime minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, urging the US to respect its sovereignty. They wrote in the statement that Arctic security was a top priority for Nato, a defense alliance that includes the United States and Greenland. “Greenland belongs to its people,” the statement said. “It is for Denmark and Greenland, and them only, to decide on matters concerning Denmark and Greenland.” Greenland’s government said it had asked the US state department for an “urgent” meeting with the secretary of state, Marco Rubio, Greenland’s minister for foreign affairs and research, Vivian Motzfeldt, and the Danish foreign minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, to discuss “the US’s claims about our country”. Rasmussen told the Danish public broadcaster DR that a meeting would give the Danes and Greenlanders a chance to correct some of Trump’s claims, including that there are a lot of Russian and Chinese ships around Greenland, and that China exerts great influence there through investments. “We do not share this image that Greenland is plastered with Chinese investments ...
