Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR) delivered another year of stellar returns in 2025, driven by an acceleration in its growth. The booming demand for Palantir's artificial intelligence (AI) software solutions, which are being used by both governments and enterprises, sent the stock up by an impressive 135% last year. Investors, however, are wondering if it is a good idea to buy Palantir stock following its terrific surge. After all, the company is trading at an expensive 417 times earnings and 117 times sales. Even analysts aren't expecting much upside from Palantir in the next year. Its 12-month median price target of $200 is just 11% higher than the current stock price. Additionally, only a quarter of the 26 analysts covering Palantir suggest buying it now. However, there is another AI stock that significantly outperformed Palantir last year and is trading at an incredibly cheap valuation right now: Western Digital (NASDAQ: WDC) . Shares of the data storage solutions specialist shot up 282% in 2025. Let's see why that was the case. Continue reading

Hi everyone. Today we’re diving into one of the most foolish rumors I’ve ever seen play out, but first... This week’s top gaming news: The chat platform Discord Inc., popular with gamers, secretly filed an IPO Razer Inc. plans a $600 million push to capture demand for AI in gaming Dumbest timeline On Thursday, rumors began to mushroom across the internet that the highly anticipated video game Grand Theft Auto VI was going to be delayed again. On Polymarket, chances of a delay spiked , while shares of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., the company behind the game, fell 1.7% amid all the feverish conjecture. This was a surreal experience. After all, the source of these rumors was...me — despite the fact that I had not reported that the game would be delayed. Grand Theft Auto VI , expected to be one of the biggest entertainment launches of all time, is an open-world crime game set in a fictional version of Florida. It’s the long-awaited follow-up to Grand Theft Auto V , the second-best-selling game in history, which came out in 2013. Grand Theft Auto VI was first announced for fall 2025 before slipping to May 2026 and then again to Nov. 19, 2026, its current planned date. The lengthy development cycle and multiple delays have led to paranoia among nervous fans and analysts that the game is troubled or that it might slip again, which would have big ramifications for Take-Two, its GTA-making studio Rockstar Games and the rest of the industry. Which brings us to this week’s debacle. On Tuesday, I appeared on The Ringer ’s gaming podcast , where host Ben Lindbergh asked about my level of confidence in a 2026 release for the game. I said that I wouldn’t be surprised if Grand Theft Auto VI followed the same pattern as Red Dead Redemption II , which was also delayed twice before finally landing in the fall of 2018. I added that the game is not yet content-complete and that the developers are still finalizing missions and levels. “I don’t think anyone at Rockstar could tell y...

Buy Amazon for a prospective breakout to new 52-week highs. Amazon , as all will know, has been a poor relative performer to the S & P 500 Index for several years. Indeed, the stock's relative performance peak was in the June of 2020 (Covid related outperformance associated with Covid online shopping)... and ever since, AMZN has been underperforming the S & P 500 Index. June 30, 2020 to present: Mag 7 Index: +432% QQQ : +153% SPY : +124% AMZN: +79% Here and now, we believe Amazon is setting up to break out to new highs ... and as such, we like it as an absolute trade (long) and as a relative trade (versus the S & P 500 Index). Bottom line: owning Amazon the past 5 ½ years has been a "negative alpha" affair. From here, we think owning Amazon will generate positive Alpha. DISCLOSURES: None. Jonathan Ernst | Reuters A version of this article first appeared in CNBC's Healthy Returns newsletter, which brings the latest health-care news straight to your inbox. Subscribe here to receive future editions. Next week, I'll be attending the annual JPMorgan Healthcare Conference – the largest gathering of biotech and pharma execs, investors and analysts in the U.S. The conference often sets the tone for the year ahead, and will offer an early pulse on what the health-care industry could look like in 2026. Executives from companies large and small are expected to roll out key business and drug pipeline updates, announce splashy M&A deals and offer their read on industry sentiment more than a year into Trump 2.0. That backdrop looks different than many in the industry feared earlier in 2025. Several major drugmakers ended the year with landmark drug pricing deals with President Donald Trump – and a reprieve from his planned sector-specific tariffs. As a result, drug pricing and other policies may not dominate executive conversations with investors for the first time in years. Wall Street will likely zero in on pharma's other problem: A roughly $300 billion patent cliff by the end of the decade. Blockbuster drugs such as the blood thinner Eliquis from Bristol Myers Squibb and Pfizer, and Merck's top-selling cancer immunotherapy Keytruda will face competition from cheaper competitors in the years ahead, and companies are racing to offset those drops in revenue. For example, Bristol Myers Squibb has the highest exposure to the upcoming loss of exclusivity cycle, according to a note from JPMorgan analysts in la...

Apple Inc. shares are on pace to tie their longest losing streak in more than three decades. The iPhone maker fell as much as 1.1% on Friday, putting the stock on track for an eighth-straight losing session. While Apple has had a handful of losing streaks of the same duration over the years — in 2025, 2022, 2016 and 1998 — it hasn’t fallen for nine consecutive days since 1991, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Apple shares spent much of 2025 in the penalty box amid concerns that it was falling behind in the race to deploy artificial intelligence features. Even though the stock recovered in the second half of the year as doubts about AI spending took hold, its nearly 9% gain in 2025 underperformed the S&P 500 Index’s 16% jump, something that hadn’t happened since 2022. More recently, Apple and other computer and device makers have been under pressure from rising prices for components such as memory chips, the result of heavy demand from the build out of data centers for AI computing. Its shares are down more than 5% since the losing streak began.
