Goldman Sachs sees big opportunities in two real estate stocks that it says will benefit from the booming senior population. On Friday, the firm initiated coverage of Ventas, whose portfolio includes senior housing communities, skilled nursing facilities and medical office buildings, with a buy rating and $94 price target. That target implies 25% upside from Thursday's close. Ventas currently has a 2.56% dividend yield. It also initiated coverage on Omega Healthcare Investors , which focuses largely on skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities, with a buy rating. Its price target of $54 suggests nearly 21% upside ahead. Omega Healthcare yields 6%. The new research coverage comes after Goldman identified "significant" investment opportunities in the aging population theme last year, including health care, entertainment and experiences. The number of people in the U.S. aged 80 and older is expected to soar in coming years, with the nation's first baby boomers entering their eighth decade this year. VTR 1Y mountain Ventas one-year performance An estimated 524,000 people turned — or will turn — 80 every year from 2024 through 2026, up from 151,000 annually from 2014 through 2023, analyst Julien Blouin said in a note to clients. That is expected to hit 868,000 every year between 2027 and 2030, he said. "We believe this growth in the number of primary users of Senior Housing and Skilled Nursing will support increased occupancy growth and should drive occupancy well above the prior peaks in 2015, creating the best demand environment for OHI and VTR since their inception," Blouin wrote, using the two stocks' trading symbols. On top of the aging population, there is also a decline in the number of family caregivers, which will shift seniors into senior housing facilities, he noted. In addition, the lack of new supply to the market can help drive occupancy rates to record levels, he said. 'Meaningful' upside for Ventas' senior housing Ventas should see "meanin...

Source: Alpha News New video that appears to show Renee Nicole Good in her car right before she was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis was posted Friday on social media by the site Alpha News . The video appears to have been taken by a phone held by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who fired at the 37-year-old Good on Wednesday as she drove her SUV toward him. Vice President JD Vance reposted the video on his X account. "Watch this, as hard as it is," Vance wrote. "Many of you have been told this law enforcement officer wasn't hit by a car, wasn't being harassed, and murdered an innocent woman. The reality is that his life was endangered and he fired in self defense." This is breaking news. Please refresh for updates.

Micro Greenland Lender Whipsaws As Trump Headlines Ignite Investor Frenzy Shares of a Nuuk-based commercial bank, founded in 1967 to serve Greenland's private and corporate customers, have surged sharply as investors speculate that President Trump's "Donroe Doctrine" to secure the Western Hemisphere could ultimately involve acquiring Greenland. The 42% rally in Bank of Greenland shares this year, which has since retraced roughly 20% of those gains, has been entirely headline-driven, linked to the Trump administration's efforts to acquire the mineral-rich, strategically located territory in North America, rather than by fundamentals. Per Hansen, an investment economist at Nordnet Bank AB, said investors were piling into Bank of Greenland shares on the OMX Copenhagen Mid Cap Index, whose market capitalization stands at around 1.91 billion kroner ($298 million). "Greenland could see massive investment," Hansen said. "I do not know, and investors do not know, what will happen, but it might happen. More investment means more business buzz." In other words, investors are buying Bank of Greenland shares first and asking questions later. Nuuk, Greenland Overnight, Reuters reported that the Trump administration has considered sending lump-sum payments of up to $100,000 to Greenlanders in exchange for a vote to secede from Denmark and join the United States. Trump has cited several reasons for acquiring Greenland, including its mineral wealth for military applications and the need for the Western Hemisphere to fall under Washington's geopolitical influence. Shares of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (NASDAQ: KTOS) jumped 45% this week, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence . The defense contractor focused on unmanned vehicles (drones) and advanced communication systems for combat is soaring due to a new contract win, increased proposals for defense spending in 2026, and the United States' operation in Venezuela. It has been a busy week for defense contractors. After the operation in Venezuela to arrest its President Nicolas Maduro, defense stocks such as Kratos started trading higher on the week. Then, it was announced that the United States government is proposing a massive increase to the defense budget for 2027, lifting it to $1.5 trillion compared to $1 trillion in 2026. This could mean huge investments into cutting-edge technologies, which Kratos specializes in. The company builds unmanned drones that fly alongside tactical aircraft, such as the F-35, as well as space and satellite communication systems that could be used for the Golden Dome. Last quarter, Kratos revenue grew 26% year-over-year, with projections to grow 15%-20% in 2026 and 18%-23% in 2027. Continue reading
