Jimmy Energy SAS , a French nuclear startup backed by billionaire Pierre-Edouard Sterin , raised €80 million ($92 million) to complete the design of its small modular reactor and start construction by 2029. The French government is providing half of the funding, while Credit Mutuel Alliance Federale is leading private sector financing, Paris-based Jimmy Energy said in a statement Tuesday. Some existing shareholders, including Sterin’s investment firm Otium Capital and Paris Mouratoglou’s Eren Groupe , also participated in the new funding round. Jimmy Energy is among the companies seeking to commercialize the next wave of nuclear technology by designing so-called SMRs to meet an expected increase in demand for carbon-free energy. The US, Europe and China are racing to develop such plants that would be cheaper and faster to build than traditional large-scale reactors. “The goal is to complete the detailed design with suppliers, and to obtain the approval from the nuclear safety authority for the first of a kind,” Antoine Guyot, co-founder and chief executive officer of the six-year-old French startup, said in an interview. The new money will also help Jimmy Energy, which employs 80 people, beef up its engineering capacity. The firm previously raised more than €50 million. The startup is targeting its reactors at European food, paper and chemicals makers, generating high-temperature heat for processes that would be more competitive than using natural gas, Guyot said. The 60-megawatt units would take two-and-a-half years to build, and cost between €100 million and €200 million. The company plans to start construction in 2029 of the first reactor, which would supply steam for a sugar and alcohol producer east of Paris, the CEO said. Jimmy’s gas-cooled reactors will use longer-burning TRISO fuel, which will initially be supplied by Urenco Ltd. ’s plant in New Mexico. Pinterest (PINS 1.80%) recently got a huge vote of confidence after activist investor Elliott Investment Management, led by billionaire investor Paul Singer, announced that it would add $1 billion to its stake in the company through a share repurchase plan. Elliott will purchase $1 billion in convertible senior notes, which Pinterest will then use the proceeds from to repurchase $1 billion worth of its shares through an accelerated share repurchase (ASR) agreement. Elliott's notes will be convertible into stock at $22.72 per share, which is a 30% premium to the stock's price before the announcement. The notes will also pay out 1.75% a year in interest and mature in 2031. In addition to the ASR, Pinterest plans to buy back another $500 million in shares under a trading plan. In total, the company's board increased its share repurchase authorization to $3.5 billion. Before its latest investment, Elliott already had nearly $725 million invested in Pinterest, as of the end of the fourth quarter. Excluding exchange-traded funds (ETFs), the stock was its fifth-largest holding. While known as an activist investor, the company appears to continue to support current CEO Bill Ready and the strategy he has embarked on at Pinterest. Should investors follow Elliott into Pinterest? Perhaps I'm in the minority with Elliott, but I actually think Bill Ready has done a great job at Pinterest. He has transformed the company from an online vision board into an online shopping discovery destination. He has fully embraced artificial intelligence (AI) to make the platform much more functional, with features like multimodal search, personalized curation, and an AI shopping assistant. Users can also now purchase most items they see without having to leave Pinterest's platform. The company has also incorporated AI into its Pinterest Performance+ ad suite to help advertisers with bidding, budgeting, and creative to help better target users and improve conversion. Its AI-powered ROAS (return o...

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) is expanding its ecosystem partnerships and product lineup as its shares rebound amid geopolitical uncertainty and discussions over export policies. BlackBerry QNX Expands Support For AMD Processors The move broadens the companies' collaboration and gives manufacturers another option for building systems used in cars, factory equipment, robots, and medical imaging devices. QNX said the Ryzen Embedded V2000 processor is the first to work with the platform, with support for the Ryzen AI Embedded P100 processors planned next. Developers can already access the tools needed to start building applications using the supported hardware. The companies said the collaboration aims to help manufacturers create systems that run reliably and handle demanding tasks in industries such as automotive, industrial equipment, and healthcare. AMD Shares Rebound After Sector Selloff AMD shares rebounded Monday as investors weighed geopolitical tensions, potential new U.S. export rules for AI chips, and the company's latest product and licensing developments. The stock recovered after falling last week amid a broader semiconductor selloff tied to discussions of new export regulations and tensions over the U.S.–Israel conflict with Iran. Between February 27 and March 6, AMD shares declined 3.9%, compared with a 6.8% drop in the PHLX Semiconductor Index, while the NASDAQ Composite Index fell 1.2%. Licensing Deal With Adeia Resolves Litigation AMD Price Action: Advanced Micro Devices shares were up 0.40% at $203.50 during premarket trading on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data. The move follows Monday's 5.33% rally, when the stock closed at $202.68. Photo by Poetra.RH via Shutterstock

Jonathan Kitchen/DigitalVision via Getty Images Topline Summary and Update It's been quite a long time since my last review of Rigel Pharmaceuticals ( RIGL ), where I was optimistic about the company's performance in light of the growth of their acquired targeted therapies, as well as their own internal pipeline being developed. Since that time, RIGL has seen fairly substantial gains from the market, and they are currently being valued at a price-to-earnings ratio of around 7 (at the time of writing). Today, I want to provide an updated look at the investment thesis for RIGL, as well as a rationale for why I think this stock continues to justify a "Buy" sentiment after upward moves. Pipeline Updates Acquired agents (olutasidenib, pralsetinib, fostamitinib) RIGL continues to own the rights to the targeted agents like fostamitinib, pralsetinib, and olutasidenib. Fostamatinib is a splenic tyrosine kinase inhibitor approved for the management of chronic immune thrombocytopenia after an insufficient response to prior therapy. Pralsetinib is a RET inhibitor approved for the management of RET fusion-positive non-small cell lung cancer and certain forms of RET-positive thyroid cancer. Olutasidenib is an inhibitor of IDH1 approved for the management of adults with relapsed/refractory, IDH1-mutated acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This would be in the setting of treatment for patients who have failed to benefit from venetoclax plus azacitidine (in most cases), for which olutasidenib could be the superior option compared with ivosidenib. There are ongoing studies in collaboration with different groups like MD Anderson to explore the potential benefit of olutasidenib in different IDH1-driven cancers, but these are not being driven by RIGL themselves, and it is unclear what the impact could be as far as label expansion is concerned. At this time, RIGL is continuing to assess potential acquisitions in the same vein as these; however, there are no major company-sponsored clinical tri...

The U.S. solar industry saw fewer new installations in 2025 than a year ago after President Donald Trump ended incentives for renewable energy projects. The industry added 43 gigawatts of new solar capacity in 2025, compared to nearly 50 GW in 2024, a report by the Solar Energy Industries Association and Wood Mackenzie showed. It noted that the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which accelerated the phaseout of tax credits for solar projects, altered the trajectory of the industry in 2025. As a result, utility-scale solar installations fell 16% and community solar declined 25% in 2025. Still, solar accounted for 54% of all new electricity-generating capacity added to the U.S. grid in 2025. Solar and storage, combined, made up 79% of new capacity that year. Over two-thirds of all solar capacity installed in 2025 was in states won by Trump. Texas saw the highest number of new solar installations, followed by Indiana, Florida, Arizona, Ohio, Utah and Arkansas. "American households and businesses of all sizes are demanding solar + storage because they deliver fast, affordable power to help meet rapidly rising demand," said Darren Van't Hof, interim president and CEO, SEIA. "Washington must deliver policy certainty for the market to work and to keep pace with growing energy demands. Without this certainty, less solar will get built and Americans will pay the price with higher energy bills," he added. The U.S. is expected to add 490 GW of new solar capacity by 2036, bringing cumulative installed capacity to nearly 770 GW, the report projected . Susan Vineyard/iStock via Getty Images I am glad that Helmerich & Payne, Inc. ( HP ) sustained its uptrend. Indeed, there was still some upside when I wrote my previous coverage three and a half months ago, and HP just proved it. In a short period, HP has already delivered approximately 28% returns, justifying my buy rating from before. Today, fundamentals are still robust considering its solid revenue growth and liquidity. There are also new opportunities to sustain its growth. My only concern right now is that the stock valuation is already close to my target price, which can limit its upside potential. Technicals are still generally bullish, but emerging selling pressures after recent overbuying signal caution. Q1 2026: Growth Amid Intense Cost Pressures The market stays highly volatile amid sharp crude oil and natural gas price swings, sticky inflation, tariff wars, and the intensifying tension in the Middle East. Helmerich & Payne, Inc. is no exception, considering its high exposure to these risks. Yet, HP continued to capitalize on its extensive global market presence and increased focus on its key niches. This was evident in its most recent performance. In Q1 2026, its operating revenue amounted to $1.02B , up by 50.2% YoY from $677.30M. This was mainly driven by continued expansion, especially its acquisition of KCA Deutag. This increased its operating capacity and allowed HP to acquire the existing customers of the acquired company. As you can see, its drilling services rose by 45.5% YoY and comprised 96.5% of the total revenue. After all, the acquisition of KCA Deutag increased its drilling activity in the Middle East. On a QoQ basis, revenues increased by 0.5%, showing sustained growth despite unfavorable market conditions. Drilling service revenues decreased from Q4 2025 to Q1 2026, which should not be surprising considering the weaker oil prices after the OPEC oil hike. But other revenues offset it. Likewise, its operating costs and expenses increased s...
