What we call "junior miners," which is normally taken to mean people who are not producing yet. They're working up mines and processes to produce, but are not, as yet. The reason for the excitement is that there's huge leverage here. If they find good stocks of a decent mineral, they can get them into production. Most importantly, if they do get into production, then if the price of the element to be sold goes up, then that price rise is pure profit - operating costs do not go up with revenues. The other half of the excitement is that if any of those go into reverse, then the company is worth very much less, not very much more. Opex does not fall as sales prices fall, just as one example. My concern with Blue Moon ( MOON:CA ) is simply that this current valuation is looking very frothy to me. Perhaps an excess of excitement? My analysis concentrates upon the recent price rise and the gallium and germanium mine they've just announced they've gained the rights to. This has been accompanied by a 60% rise in the stock price - that seems excessive to me. Sure, sure, this is just one person's opinion, and you should evaluate it as that. The world’s biggest commodity traders are lining up billions of dollars in new credit lines as they position for further price spikes in oil and gas that could trigger giant margin calls. Vitol Group , Trafigura Group and Gunvor Group have all been holding talks with banks to raise new credit lines in recent days as the Iran war sparks dramatic price swings across energy markets. Trafigura on Tuesday announced it had secured a $3 billion credit facility to provide a “liquidity buffer, if required during a period of heightened commodity price volatility.” Vitol is also in talks to raise about $3 billion in credit, while Gunvor is seeking about $1 billion, according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named as the talks aren’t public. Spokespeople for Vitol and Gunvor declined to comment. Commodity traders use bank credit to finance the cargoes of commodities they ship around the world. When prices rise, the value of those cargoes goes up, increasing their need for financing. As often happens, the truth lies in the middle; and it is precisely in the middle that, in my opinion, a covered call solution like the iShares U.S. Large Cap Premium Income Active ETF ( BALI ) positions itself well. What is BALI? BALI provides exposure to U.S. large caps while distributing a monthly income stream through a strategy that combines an equity portfolio, options, and futures. This follows the objective declared by management: consistent income with lower volatility than the broader U.S. equity market. The management includes stock selection, management of the written calls, and an overlay through futures.
