Holders of Ardagh Group SA ’s credit default swaps are set for a payout worth 66% of face value following a debt restructuring that saw unsecured bondholders take over the Irish packaging firm. Notes issued by Ardagh Packaging Finance Plc were valued at 33.9 cents on the euro in an auction to settle the insurance-like contracts tied to them, according to a notice on the Creditfixings website . CDS holders will receive a payout equal to the difference between the auction price for the notes and their face value. The auction concludes months of fierce debate over when the swaps were triggered, and therefore how they should be settled. External expert adjudicators appointed by the Credit Derivatives Determinations Committee (CDDC) – a panel which oversees the CDS market – ruled in December that the “credit event” happened by Oct. 7, before the restructuring went live. That could set a precedent for buyers of credit protection at a time when a growing number of restructuring deals are taking place out of court. Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos Grenadiers cycling team will be renamed and rebranded with a new lead sponsor and new kit before the start of this year’s Tour de France in Barcelona on 4 July. The Guardian understands that while Ratcliffe and Ineos head of sport, Dave Brailsford, will retain ownership and management of the team, the new title sponsor of the World Tour cycling team will be Danish IT supplier Netcompany. Disclosures by Raízen showed that the Paris-based BNP is owed 4.2 billion reais ($810 million) when the value of the debt is converted into the local currency, according to company documents released Wednesday. Banco Bradesco, Banco Santander SA , Coöperatieve Rabobank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. are each owed around 2 billion reais, also on a currency-converted basis, while Itau Unibanco Holding SA has over 1 billion reais of exposure to the company. Raízen, owned by Shell Plc and Cosan SA , agreed to start an out-of-court debt restructuring of its 65 billion reais debt, suspending payments and giving it 90 days to get buy-in from creditors on a more comprehensive plan. While the headline and core readings were largely in line with expectations, the composition of price changes shows that disinflation has stalled in several areas and that short-term pressures may be firming again. At the same time, rising energy prices and an increasingly inflationary geopolitical environment complicate the outlook, raising the possibility that inflation could remain sticky in the months ahead and reinforcing the case for a more cautious approach from the Fed. CPI BLS U.S. CPI came in broadly in line with expectations in February, maintaining a stable uptrend supported by moderate gains across all of the major categories. The headline index increased 0.3% MoM and 2.4% YoY, both in line with consensus expectations. The annual rate remained at its lowest level since May 2025, but this will likely be short-lived due to the recent, rapid rise in oil prices. February did feature some sizeable increases in food and energy, which kept inflation from easing further. BLS Food prices increased 0.4% MoM in February, with food at home up 0.4% MoM and food away from home up 0.3% MoM. Three of the six major grocery store groups increased during the month, with the fruits & vegetables group leading the way, up 1.4% MoM. The meats, poultry, fish, and eggs (+0.0% MoM) and cereals & bakery product segments (-0.2% MoM) were soft, keeping the broad food index contained. Falling resale ‌prices that are also driven by rapid advances in battery technology, range and software have pushed many second-hand EVs closer in ‌cost to comparable gasoline vehicles, while over-the-air updates and a growing charging network are easing earlier concerns about ownership. The rollback of incentives that once fueled EV purchases, coupled with ​higher vehicle prices, is also helping them gain a larger slice of the roughly $800 billion U.S. pre-owned car market. Used EV sales in the U.S. reached 31,503 units in January, up about 21% from a year earlier, according to Cox Automotive. In 2025, used EV sales totaled 378,140 vehicles, roughly 35% higher than the prior year, according to CarEdge. Like luxury gasoline vehicles, electric cars depreciate quickly as rapid advances in the features offered mean newer ‌models can outpace vehicles just a few years ⁠old. "We're seeing used EV prices normalize in ways that are opening the category to a much broader set of buyers," a Carvana spokesperson said. That has helped narrow the price gap between electric and gasoline vehicles in the ⁠used market. The premium for used EVs over comparable gasoline vehicles narrowed to $1,376 in January from $2,591 in December, according to Cox Automotive, an industry research firm.
