As it now holds around 315,000 acres in the Delaware, LB is positioning itself in both the sustained dominance of the Permian and the push to build new AI data centers. I’ll dive into why I believe it can be a winner in your portfolio. Current Dynamics I’ll first start with the latest earnings , as Q4 revenue came out to $56.79MM, a beat of $4.83MM, but more importantly, a 55.6% Y/Y increase. On the bottom line, that came out to a net income of $18.2MM, thus making LB have a net margin of 32%. EBITDA also increased drastically, to $51.1MM, up 61% Y/Y and 14% Q/Q. This overall performance marks the seventh consecutive quarter of revenue growth, thanks mainly to a 12% increase in surface use royalties and improvement in resource sales, such as supply water and sand. On an FY basis, revenue came out to $199.1MM, an 81% Y/Y increase, while EBITDA reached $177.2MM, up 83% Y/Y, drastically exceeding the high end of the previous guidance. Nebius just reported Q4 group revenue growth of 547% year-over-year, exceeded its ARR guidance at $1.25 billion, and is guiding for $7 to $9 billion ARR and $3 billion to $3.4 billion in revenue for 2026 with a 40% adjusted EBITDA margin. So the Nvidia investment landed on top of an already strong fundamental picture. While the partnership helps validate the infrastructure thesis, the execution risk on that capex is still very much alive. What $2 Billion From Nvidia Actually Means Nvidia doesn't make strategic investments casually, which explains why the stock is exploding on Wednesday. Nvidia has a very specific playbook: identify the infrastructure companies that will consume the most GPUs over the next decade and lock them in early, and we saw that happen with CoreWeave ( CRWV ) back in January . I often feel that we are too shortsighted in our intergenerational discussions. As a gen Xer, I’ve often discussed my experiences as a young adult, which, as Lanchester points out, share many parallels with today’s gen Z. In heritage management classes, I ask students about their parents and grandparents. We compare experiences with those of the first and second world war generations, then that of our great-grandparents. At the final meeting prior to the invasion of Iraq between UK chiefs of staff (of which I was one), the then prime minister Tony Blair, the defence secretary, senior Ministry of Defence officials and the foreign secretary, in the Old War Office building in March 2003, I asked what the plans were for phase four of the war that was about to start (ie what were the plans for actions after we had won). We were told by the prime minister that the Americans had this all in hand. I asked if we could see their plans and was told we would. I saw nothing before or after the war started. Beating Iraq was clearly going to be relatively easy – what happened then was much harder and not clear. The same seems to be true of Donald Trump’s war against Iran. Something went wrong. The car charger wouldn’t work. Terrible, enervating, life-shortening faff ensued. It was to do with the wifi to which the car was linked having to be changed. I find this stuff so boring that I have been known to simply slump to the floor and fall into a deep sleep. But this wasn’t an option, as I had to drive miles to work and my car’s batteries were as empty as my soul. I’d already been on the road for five hours listening to Antony Beevor’s history of the second world war. Man’s inhumanity to man is so very disappointing, even more disappointing than a malfunctioning EV charger on a wet and windy day. I resolved to dig deep. The human spirit would prevail. If only I could find another human to help me out. I messaged the bloke who had installed it, but time was pressing, so I tried the manufacturer’s website. It was all big and glossy, banging on about a green future, sustainability, solar this, inverter that. I was invited to visit support. Click. Sorry, page doesn’t exist. Great. Deep down, hidden in the base rock of one of the pages, I found a precious relic from a bygone age – a phone number. Murmuring prayers of thanks and hope, I made the call. My phone told me I was calling a number in a small town in the east of England. An encouraging sign. It felt real. A competent techie with a strong Hull accent would have done nicely, but an automated American voice picked up, accompanied by stimulating piano arpeggios. My heart sank. I selected option two, for technical help. Hearing office noise – keyboards clacking and so on – I perked up. And then came the voice: “Hi. This is Rachel. How can I help you today?” Rachel wasn’t human. She sounded almost human, but not quite. I told “her” – seriously, what are the pronouns here? – that I needed help changing the wifi details on an EV charger. On 2 March (48 hours after the war started) I had to pay 86.6p per litre of oil. This was 10p higher than the price on Friday 27 February. Within 24 hours of placing my order, my supplier emailed me to say that “due to significant increases in global fuel costs, we will need to adjust the price of your order. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has caused considerable volatility in oil markets, leading to rapid and unpredictable price rises across the industry.” When I complained, it backed down and delivered my oil at the agreed price, but I know of others in my rural village who were not so lucky. It is hard to believe that the hostilities that started on 28 February can have had such a huge impact on oil that must have already been in the country. The only logical conclusion to be drawn is that those of us not covered by the energy price cap are going to be ripped off by suppliers.
