It's the first oral GLP-1 approved for chronic weight management, and Novo Nordisk hopes it will help it regain market share in this area. While oral Wegovy has so far had a successful launch, another oral GLP-1 could hit the market this year and eclipse it. Here's what investors need to know. The leader strikes again Last year, Eli Lilly (LLY +0.87%) posted strong phase 3 results for orforglipron, an oral GLP-1 medicine, in weight management and in helping type 2 diabetes patients lower their A1C levels. Lilly has submitted the drug to regulatory authorities for approval, which could come down during the second quarter, so it's gearing up to launch orforglipron. The company already has about $1.5 billion in inventory, and management said it would be ready to roll it out about a week after approval. Though Eli Lilly is already dominating the weight loss market thanks to Zepbound, orforglipron should help cement its lead. Here are three reasons why. First, as Lilly noted, oral Wegovy is actually expanding the market, not just capturing existing weight-loss patients who were previously taking subcutaneous medicines. Orforglipron, then, could have a similar trajectory, helping the company attract newer patients who were hesitant to start treatment because they didn't like needles, or because the storage requirements of injections were too daunting. According to Deadline, the 24-year-old will take on the lead role for Sarah Polley, the writer-director who previously won an Oscar for her Women Talking screenplay. Eilish is reportedly in advanced talks for the part. Eilish previously acted in 2023 TV series Swarm, co-created by Donald Glover. “I used to say that I hated acting,” Eilish said in her Saturday Night Live monologue. “But the truth is, when I was little I loved it! My mom and dad were both actors. So is my brother, Finneas. And it was my dream to be in a movie.” The film is set to be released by Focus Features in the US with other deals in the works. vesilvio/iStock Editorial via Getty Images An abundance of missteps has set Harley-Davidson ( HOG ) on a long road to recovery, with substantial investment necessary to deliver meaningful change at the iconic motorcycle company. “HOG has suffered years of underperformance with no clear relief in sight,” says Wells Fargo analyst Anthony Bonadio, citing a failure to evolve with consumer tastes, activist campaigns, and three CEOs in ten years as some of the fumbles that have put the company in its current position. “The list of questions on HOG at the moment is long, existential, and underscores little visibility around ultimate earnings power,” Bonadio writes in his note to clients. “We see a long road ahead for HOG, sizable investment required for even a shot at returning to growth, and plenty of downside in the stock.” Traffic remains a problem, to which Bonadio blames the inability of its 1.2K Harley-Davidson-specific dealers to engage riders. Bonadio believes dealer economics suffered under the management of former CEO Jochen Zeitz, exacerbated by model exits, poor inventory control, retail sales declines, and financing pressures. “Relationship repair will take time, and traffic remains a problem,” Bonadio says. Under new CEO Artie Starr, HOG’s early steps towards recovery look “positive,” but earnings visibility remains low until a new plan is developed. Recently, I increased my AI holdings, reflecting sustained bullishness in the AI infrastructure cycle even amid energy bottleneck risks. MRVL now stands at 5% of NAV, Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ) at 5%, and Credo ( CRDO ) at 4%. My cash position is 40%, including 5% in gold as portfolio insurance. In any cyclical AI unwind, which is not the dominant probability but exists meaningfully in the probability matrix, I would increase AMD to 10% without question if undervaluation was stark. I would also likely raise MRVL to 7.5%, though I expect it to be more resilient due to its Custom XPU focus that engages more heavily with custom efficiency benefits that should offset energy constraints somewhat. I would likely raise CRDO to 6.5%, as long as its status in the cycle remained compelling, as it is a smaller business and hence less resilient due to customer concentration and market mix disruption risks. My current ~15% in-effect pure AI infra positioning therefore represents potential "late-cycle" caution in the first phase of a supercycle trend, though I would rather be dominantly in AI infra at ~30% of NAV if valuations were less extreme compared to historical norms. JPMorgan That said, I would like you to consider that the S&P 500 ( SP500 ) could be re-rating upward not based on "speculative overvaluation" or an "AI bubble," but because of the emergence of a higher average forward 30-year P/E.
